Developer and publisher that actually made the game and can see sales, subscriptions, and engagement data: "We're very happy!"

You're the one who started comparing to Concord. Of course it's still a waste of time and money, especially if you bought physical.
Sure, in the sense that people enjoying a game doesn't prevent it from failing or a studio getting closed.

Which was what it was about.

Microsoft has lied about this before. The biggest example is in this thread.

Please, pay attention.

Hi-Fi Rush? Just because Microsoft shut Tango down doesn't mean Hi-Fi Rush didn't do well. There's infinitely more variables than that.

There's a reason Tango was acquired and a Hi-Fi Rush sequel is in development.

right, companies often shut down developers when they deliver successful, profitable, and high quality games. Especially publishers who badly need a content pipeline to feed their subscription service.

Come on man. Nobody knows if Avowed is actually a success but this is obvious BS, especially because she says there are no metrics.

If you're saying they tried to shut down something that had success then no one should give a shit about what's considered a success according to them.

Yes, so clearly the rational reaction is to just assume that every game Microsoft claims is successful from here on out is actually a super secret failure /s

I dont recall the Professor ever giving a statement that she was happy with the reception. Which is what this is about.
My reaction was to someone implying Avowed can't be a failure because people are enjoying it.

Could've used Hifi Rush, if that's what you prefer?

that's an obvious strawman

not everything they say is successful is actually successful, that seems like a pretty reasonable statement to make

What do you mean by this?

The audience for these announcements seems to be mostly Playstation-fans. They are reacting the most, anyways. I find it funny when the same fans yell that Microsoft is "treating their audience like fools", not realising who they are calling fools.

No we don't. Again, a studio being closed isn't "evidence" of anything other than that the studio was closed.

And we have plenty of "evidence" of successful games being released by Xbox Games Studios as well.
Exactly a studio closing doesn’t mean anything. Studios close all the time for no reason at all.

It’s wild the lengths people will go to just to defend MS. They lied, they mislead people like they’ve done many times before. Its not as complicated as you want to make it out to be.
