No offense that sounds like a terribly predictable show. I seriously doubt MS has zero unknown properties awaiting unveil at E3.

Lol none taken, I was just trying to be as reasonable and level headed as I could, gathering what I've read around here.
Rest assured, my dream E3 includes Perfect Dark, Crimson Skies, a new Remedy game and Sea of Thieves but with huge sea monsters that take several crews to hunt down.

edit: yeah I do like your list better than mine

Less than 3 weeks. I doesn't seem long ago when SCORPIO was a long way off. Now it's pretty much pre launch season!

I'm ready for Crackdown and the infinite power of the cloud. I will also LOL if they have shuttered all that stuff in place of a more 'modest' physics game. Hopefully not!

I do wonder what bombshell Microsoft could add to Game Pass to make it a big deal. A recent release or a same-day release even seems like the easiest solution, but what game would they be willing to jettison like that? Cuphead? HW2?

Gears of war 4. Like I think that game has hit the point where it's not going to sell anymore to be honest. Plus it could use a rejuvenation to the player base and it would make a splash for games pass

Wildcard prediction: MS has square Enix on stage to announce kingdom hearts remasters coming to Xbox, FF13 trilogy coming to BC today and maybe scorpio upgrades to 15

Phils Japan trip redeemed

I'd definitely be down for that! I don't think its worth their time to invest in exclusive JRPG stuff, but they could at least strive for ports of stuff that already exists. With KH3 coming to Xbox it felt really confusing to not see those remastered collections.

I mean other than that there's just Nier, Nioh and persona. And I don't think persona would happen, Nioh may have an exclusivity deal behind it. Nier could be possible, but the KH games are at least new to the Xbox crowd

Are those FF remasters (10 and 12) part of an exclusivity deal? Those would be pretty neat to get too.

I was thinking about Game Pass and how they can hoodwink people into subscribing on the regular. As a one off it's a great deal but surely most people are going to 'get their fill' pretty quick. Unless there's a huge turn over of games on a regular basis which doesn't seem possible unless it's rammed full of the dregs of the indie world.

But there's been some talk about introducing major games directly into Game Pass. So I wondered maybe they could do the regular $9.99 monthly sub and then a $99 yearly sub which includes some extras. Maybe those extras being early access to new bigger titles or something like that.

I don't think any of those were actual exclusive deals, rather they chose not to develop on Xbox. I could be wrong though.

Aside from Nioh, none of those titles have exclusivity deals behind them. They skipped Xbox due to the reason most JP stuff skips Xbox.

Nioh is published by Sony in the west.

Honestly, I've been thinking about this too. I half wondered if Game Pass might be their way to copy the EA Access method and give early access to new releases. Make the first 5-10 hours or so of games like Sea of Thieves, Crackdown 3, Forza 7, etc... free for Game Pass subscribers (10% discount included).

I assumed nioh because it was a PS3 exclusive. I don't think persona because the money and effort that it would take to the port

Alright, so Demon Souls 2 and MS conference will go "Beyond" expectations.

Let's see how your track record is post-E3.

Not sure where you're getting Demon Souls 2 from..... but does this guy know anything at all? Has he ever given credible info before?

And what Xbox hint do you mean? You mean that tweet that MS had marketing on a unannounced third party game? Because that's not exclusive and a surprise exclusive IS what MS needs.

But Thomas himself has hinted on this site that we'll see something this E3, I'll try to find the post.

Yeah I recall this as well. Something like they were looking forward to E3. It's kind of a hint.

Maybe. It seems to me they will need to provide incentive to get people to re-sub. In an ideal world the selection of games would be enough reason but as said I don't think there are enough of them to do that for most people. Maybe for a few months but then they are gonna run out of games surely.

Or perhaps MS are mainly targeting the poorer end of consumers and young kids, the types who can't be buying new games all the time. It's great for a parent to just spend 10 bucks a month and your kid has 100+ games to play all the time.

He's the one who said Demon Souls 2 is coming. The Xbox hint is the MS E3 will be "Beyond" expectations.

Oh I see. Well that's interesting and I also don't believe it for a second. Well maybe a Demon Souls 2 isn't impossible and MS has shown Dark Souls trailers during E3s before. But no way an exclusive. But I believe he didn't claim that either.

Beyond expectations can mean anything I guess. To me that would mean several new promising IP being announced and shown and sadly I just don't see that happening. Not this E3.

Oh... I think we're looking at this from two different angles. I definitely think they have enough inherent value built into Game Pass for it to be successful on its own. 100+ games with X amount getting cycled on a monthly basis would easily justify the $10 sub fee for a lot of people IMO.

I'm moreso thinking that they could (and should) use Game Pass to assist games that might not reach as big of an audience otherwise. But to re-iterate, I don't think Game Pass as a service needs that push to be successful.

They will definitely open with Scorpio. Show off hardware and talk about it for a bit. Save the price and release date until the end.

Demon Souls is a Sony IP :P

Which makes is super unlikely for it to get a sequel because if they could get a new From Software exclusive, why would they opt for Demon Souls 2 instead of Bloodborne 2? Hence, I'm not really buying the insider credibility.

If MS really wanted a From exclusive they should get the Otogi IP from Sega.

Would love to see a reboot of that.

Combined with "the power of the cloud" they use for Crackdown 3, they could do some amazing destructible environments. That's my most wanted og Xbox game now that we got Phantom Dust. :D

I would love to see an Otogi comeback. I just wonder if they will do similar to Phantom Dust and just port it to test the waters.

too much to manufacture.

like a few weeks after? a month? possible but highly unlikely. gonna target the holiday season.

look at their games lineup the last 3 years. the fucking love the holiday season

They are definitely going strong with manufacturing right now.

Not to mention that they'd never keep something like that under wraps in today's day and age. Retailers would probably have units already and it'd be leaked to high heavens.

I just think they would want to release it before destiny. They release it in november thats a lot of games to buy with a new console. I think it needs breathing room. I see a July, August release.

We will get Minecraft VR/AR demo too I think, maybe even timed exclusive to Xbox. Minecraft probably makes gaming division a lot of money and not talking about it makes no sense.

I would be worried though if MS doesn't have some good surprises planned for E3 in terms of reception to the conference.

They need to ditch showing games coming out soon and go all out with future plans even if it is CG only. And they also need to select better portion of the games to demo.

Crackdown 3 can be a very sleeper hit of the show if it has a good demo. I expect Forza to blow people away graphically.

Well with RDR delayed my hype has personally lessened. I know the delay should've been anticipated, but fuck I am bummed right now. AC and Far Cry better deliver.

Honestly that's one of only two big bombas that I see Microsoft having, something to make a big splash in the industry. The other ace is a Minecraft sequel.
But a full Windows Xbox with Steam support and have a custom driver like that GeForce thing that optimizes your games for Scorpio's specs, that would be a giant bombshell.

I think they have to do something because their 1st party hasnt been so hot. I am sure they could pull it off very easily. Steam support would be huge.

I think you hit the nail on the head. This will be marketed by and to consumers that don't buy every new game that comes out. If they market it right, it will work really well with parents like you pointed out. I can see MS making indie level type of games that would be exclusive to it perhaps, like Netflix does making original content, but the library will be 100 games, some old, some not as old. I don't think we will see new, full price releases on this service and the main draw is for parents to spend $10 bucks a month and kids have a ton of games to play.

I think that Forza 7 will be a poster child for Scorpio and Forza always release in September, so I have a feeling that they will release Scorpio in September...unless they go with something else as the flag ship (show piece) title that will release later. If the intent is having the best machine in the world to play 3rd party games, they need to release in September.

Im thinking late sept as well with 2tb sku or higher end sku at $500 with $400 versions coming in nov.

I personally don't think there is going to be two sku's for Scorpio. I think there will just be a 1TB model...at least just at launch. Would be pretty dumb to release the more expensive sku in the case of Scorpio...that tactic won't work like it did on XB1S.

I can see a 2TB sku maybe next year, but not this year.
