Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

I believe the architecture part. No doubt

But I'm calling shenanigans on the will to do BC. Otherwise if they are really #4thegamers the would let you play games for free on PSNow that you already own digitally on your PSN account. Same with the PS2 games

I can't argue with that. PSNow support for games you already own should be free. I can see them saying that you still have to have PS+ to help pay for bandwidth and maintenance. What really gets me is PS1 is super easy to emulate. They do it now on PS3 and PS Vita. I really feel that since they are leading market share again this gen, they are starting to slip back into the old Sony ways.

Yep, Regular, Undead, & GOTY.

I'm curious as to why it's getting announced for a specific date, rather than today.

was probably planned to be a part of a BC announcement from Major Nelson. Also letting gamers know early will make sure they have a chance to get the cheap digital version that is currently on sale I believe.

Yeah, but the sale runs until Monday.

I know I'm wondering what the significance of Friday is, too...

What's the likelihood of the 360 Tomb Raider games (Legend, Underworld, Anniversary) getting BC? All are on sale for $5 each, and I kinda want to pull the trigger, but don't own a 360 anymore.

RDR is great news and I hope more Rockstar games are to follow. Particularly keen for Max Payne and Midnight Club but wouldn't say no to LA Noire, Bully, GTA4/5 and Table Tennis.

Heads up for anyone else thinking about uncrossing their fingers and just getting another 360, Gamestop has the 4GB E in stock new for $109. They're also doing a 50% bonus trade in through the 26th. I traded in a handful of games I'm not playing anymore and ended up only coming $35 out of pocket. I'll just pop my 128GB flash drive in the back and roll with that.

...

BTW, considering my luck and history of immediate regret in regards to buying electronics, now that I've bought this 360 expect every single 360 title to be made BC all at once sometime next week. You're welcome in advance.

Funny thing, after I gave up and bought this 360, the only two games I installed were Fallout: New Vegas and Red Dead Redemption GOTY.

Going by this trend, maybe I'll install Crackdown next.

Happy to hear about RDR, picked it up earlier after it was leaked as a BC playable title earlier.

My List:

Bully
Lost Odyssey
Amped 3
LEGO® Indiana Jones 1 and 2
Project Gotham Racing 4

And what's the go with Arcade titles? Any chance titles like Duke 3D, Outrun, Marble Blast Ultra could be BC?

Outrun and Marble Blast Both got delisted due to licensing. So I wouldn't expect either of those to show.

Max Payne 3(seriously want this more than any other game)
Mass Effect 3
Lost Odyssey/Blue Dragon
Blacklist
Orange Box
NFS: Most Wanted
MGS: HD Collection

All I care for at this point. The remasters knocked off a good portion of games as well.

So i bought Dark souls to play on xbox one but that shit is taking forever to install, its 20 min in and only 3%! The other game i bought from xbox one installed quick but this one is taking too much time, is it normal with 360 games?

With 360 games, when you put the disc in the system it doesn't install from the disc. It starts a download of the whole game. So installation time is dependant on your download speed.

Xbox One games will install from the disc and download any patches at the same time. So it can be equally as slow if there are a lot of updates.

Thank you but both games were bought digital, the xbox one was very quick while dark souls tooked forever to install, dont know why.

My internet speed is 100 mg and Dark souls is a small game, its a last generation game, so theres something wrong here.

Would be really cool if they made all Splinter Cell games BC, including Double Agent. Now that Rockstar has made RDR happen, let's hope if they also allow Max Payne III, Bully or LA Noire.

I heard that PGR4 has a few licensing problems and probably won't happen, if I look for it in the marketplace it does not even show up. A shame really.

What multi-disc game will be the first to become BC on Xbox One do you guys think?

Lost Oddesey and Blue Dragon have been confirmed by Phil Spencer but im not sure those will be the first multi-disc games. Perhaps Mass Effect 2?

Your connection? Try restarting Xbox, router, run speedtest.net etc

Lost Odyssey should be the first multi disc game in my opinion.

Both Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter games which were among the annoucenment teased games, are still nowhere to be seen.

They'll probably be announced as free downloads if you get Wild Lands, which isn't until next year.

The amount of salt/downplaying in those other threads is unreal, and people want the thread title changed? lol. It's still relevant (maybe more than ever).. it's poking fun at those guys.

Deus Ex Director's Cut is already BC.

I'm pretty sure RDR GOTY comes multi disc aswell.

Mass Effect 2 and 3 now...

I don't think they had licensed music, so they're probably going to be announced as preorder bonuses for Andromeda... right?

sorry for bumping the thread, but was wondering what double disc games are there that yall waiting for and has a chance of being BC?

all i can think of are the RPGs like Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Infinite Undiscovery....

edit nvm yall posted above me haha

I really want to replay RDR. I hope it doesn't run like shit.

It works really well. The original Xbox 360 version suffered from screen tearing from dipping below 30fps a reasonable amount (something which would cause it to be burnt at the stake for in 2016) but this is fixed on Xbox One - forced vsync is engaged.

For anybody who only played RDR on PS3, the XB1 version is 720p native (i.e. better res) and then upscaled to 1080p (or 4K on Xbox One S). The 360 version also had things better foilage etc.

Already ran good enough when it accidentally was playable. Should be even better now.

Great.

I played RDR on PS3. It was ugly as sin. I remember seeing the 360 version and it looked so much better.

Gears 3, judgement and halo reach has soured me on BC.
All i ask for is stable 30 fps.

Amazing. Thank you.

Anything that uses special peripherals won't be.

Likely some stuff that got pulled due to licensing.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 has an achievement that's unobtainable because it uses the stupid 360 Eye camera. Unless it's an integral part of the game I don't think that'll be the hold-up.
