I'm extremely satisfied with most of what I'm seeing and reading about the Xbone.
The UI looks super slick, and most features seem to be working as advertised...

Buuuut... the voice commands seem super spotty at times, I hope that improves over time!

Gamespot and others were cringe worthy when they were clearly using wrong commands, using commands while content loaded and even saw one outlet complain about how it didn't work when two people commanded at the same time....

Gamespot is the only one I have really watched and they clearly have no idea what they are talking about. It is painful how many things they are saying is wrong.

They thought Kinect was motorized. And they complain about the batteries even though they said the PS4 controllers had to be constantly charged or else they'd be dead.

Like the PS4, they like it. It has its quirks but overall it's a solid system for launch.

Panicked when I got an email from Amazon that wasn't my shipping notification but it was just a standard email advising people to make sure their credit card info is valid before shipment. Phew!

So did I especially since I paid it off with gift card credit a while back. I was really panicked when i saw a topic on the amazon forum about autocancellation after this email. I chatted with support and they said not to worry. I'm totally going to worry til it ships!

My PS4 order went through no issue so I wasn't too stressed about my X1 order. I have enjoyed the PS4 this week and I'm looking forward to getting Ryse and Forza Friday.

Two new consoles in two weeks. It's a awesome time to be a fan of gamming!

Brad says he thinks the new kinect is good and calls the original kinect a piece of shit. Theyre overall impressed that the kinect works as well as it does. Also they really like the controller syncing using the kinect and the lack of storage management is fucking dumb.

So yeah, it is still very much the system I want first. We all knew there would be some launch quirks to iron out, but it sounds like a solid foundation to build on for sure. Plus, it has more games I want to play. Hardly the disaster even I was expecting only a couple of months ago.

I think some are just having trouble getting the right commands down. Not sure why some of the app commands are so specialized. Most seem to think the tech is ok for now and once the kinks get worked on, it could be more useful.

CVG Review conclusion:

For consumers who use Netflix and Skype as much as Forza, Xbox One presents an attractive multimedia offering this Christmas. But for core gamers Sony's package is perhaps more attractive at the moment, with more visually impressive exclusives (Killzone and Resogun are not matched by anything currently on Xbox One) and the options to stream and share game footage straight away.

Whichever system you chose, neither will entirely fulfil the vision laid out in those bombastic press events earlier this year. The seeds of next-gen gaming have been planted, but they'll need time to flower before your $500 (or $400) purchase can bear fruit.

I am seriously disappointed about this, I was not expecting issues with that feature. I hope that it's not a hardware or license issue and that they will patch that soon (and not in 6-12 months), because otherwise I don't see the point in connecting a device to it. The stereo downmix is just a joke.

At least you guys have consoles that are compelling enough without games to warrant not only reviews, but really detailed in-depth reviews. When I were a lad (back when it were all fields) the review would have been:

"ColecoVision is large and black and if you are quick enough after selecting a game, you can swap an Atari 2600 controller in, but it is hard. It costs (IN TODAY'S MONEY $488.51 and the 8k rom cartridges are $74. The end."

This is absolutely insane.

Overall, good but mixed reviews. I've seen a few optimistic mentions of Ryse. The UI seems undercooked, unless the day 1 patch helps a lot (mostly coming from the Kotaku review).

We had 15 total PS4's, 8 for pre-orders and 7 for walk-ins. We also have 15 Xbox Ones Day One editions but all are for pre-orders. Unless we get another shipment in the next two days (which is unlikely) we won't have any for walk-ups. Damn at 48. Is yours in a major city? I'm at a smaller suburban Milwaukee store.

Can you customize the length or size of the "Snapped" apps? I didn't check to see if that was an option earlier.

Also, not "everyone" is saying it's fine. Here is from Eurogamer:

Wish they named a specific app, because in the gamespot stream when they snapped some apps it paused the game while you're controlling the snapped pane... but you could switch back and unpause the game

obviously this would only be useful for something passive though and not to browse the web during an unskippable cutscene

Another example: The units we've been testing mess with the audio that comes from the cable box, and are currently only able to output surround sound if you dig into the menus and tick off a "Surround Sound (BETA)" option. Otherwise, it downmixes your cable's 5.1 surround to stereo. My boss Stephen Totilo likes to watch pro wrestling, and when he does, he likes to watch it in surround sound. (The better to hear the taunts and the body-slams, I guess.) But if he runs his cable box through his Xbox One, the audio comes through in mere stereo. Microsoft assures us that a non-beta option for surround audio throughput is coming, but it won't be there at launch.
