Is it also possible to play a game while a patch is downloading. For example, can I be playing Dead Rising 3 while it is downloading the patch at the same time.

PAULINK

I microwave steaks.
Polygon, Gamestop, IGN all had problems with voice control on stream and in uncut prerecorded footage. Even after implying it worked good in the review.

YMMV on if it works or not. That is what it seems. Also, how close are you to the system?

I can't speak for the other streams, but the Gamespot one clearly showed that the people there had no idea what they were doing. There is a learning curve to the Kinect, not defending it just saying they really did not display that they knew much.

Works all the time for me.

Apple has at least gotten fluid processing for commands.

"Set timer for 5 minutes"

"timer set for 5 minutes"

"5 minute timer"

They all seem to work. I use it all the time to set my alarm, calendar dates, and cooking timers. Its much easier than digging into ui elements.

Yea what they have at launch is too rigid and not flexible enough but it should get better over time. Google Now wasn't that great when it first started but it's awesome now and can do a lot more.

Do we know what frequency the control runs on?

This thing keeps loosing connection for ~5 metres. There is a wireless router right here, so I'm wondering if that's related.

You're also talking directly into a phone while Kinect has to work across a room while using noise cancellation and following who is talking.

That sounds definitely like a conflict in wireless signals but wi-fi shouldn't be disturbing it as the Xbox One itself uses dual-band.

Maybe it's too close to the wireless router?

Daaaaamn. A few of my friends went to the midnight launch and are playing right now!

I totally regret being careless and spending my X1 money on random junk a month ago. Feels bad, man.

There really shouldn't be a learning curve beyond knowing what commands to say. They did design this thing (meaning kinect) in an attempt to hit the lowest common denominator market after all. You know what made the Wii and Wii Sports a massive success? Even the oldest or dumbest person could play it well, because all you had to do was wave your arm at the right time. There was no real learning curve.

Alright, going with Dead Rising 3 + KI. Kind of disappointing because my HDTV is 55 inch + 1080p. But I'm getting the games for fun and not the technical stuff (I just kind of wished I had a Forza or a Ryse to see what Xbox One could really push on my set up).

But fun definitely trumps that. And I think you guys are right, DR3 looks like the most fun.

Can someone confirm, that the XOne can´t be switched on via the controller when in Off-Mode? (Power Consumption ~0.3W). Would be a step back from this generation...

That´s what a German review site states:
Im "Energie sparen"-Modus ist die Konsole aus, die Leistungsaufnahme liegt bei 0,2 bis 0,4 Watt - per Controller kann die Xbox One in diesem Modus nicht eingeschaltet werden.
http://www.golem.de/news/xbox-one-im-test-neue-generation-alte-ladezeiten-1311-102833-3.html

Translation:
The power consumption in "Save Energy" mode is 0.2 to 0.4 Watt - in this mode it isn´t possible to switch-on the Xbox One with the controller.

So power button probably means the button at the console, not the button on the controller...

Loving this console! Forza is amazing...

So funny that after all this waiting, the thing that impressed me the most was the controller....just when you thought the 360 controller couldn't get any better... the feel, the d pad and the rumble are sooo good now!

Console is whisper quite...love it!

My router is dual band. I'll try turning off 5ghz.

Yea but this is Microsoft, you need to wait until the third revision before they get it right.

I'm sure you guys with the console have answered this a million times already, but how are you finding Kinect? Would really appreciate to get your views on the device.

At that power consumption it most likely isn't even powering the antennas for the controller to work.

So about those eneloop batteries? Which ones should I get?

Just normal Eneloops.

Voice commands are always going to have a catch to them.

So one of the latches on the box for Assassins Creed 4 was broken and the case won't shut at the bottom. I got it from Amazon. If I bring it to Best Buy do you guys think it would be possible for me to get a replacement there?

Any chance batteries are low? (I doubt it but worth to check)

I actually can't figure out how you check the battery lol.

Anyhow, I think it may be my wireless headphones that are doing it. Unplugged the base and it seems to have improved.

edit: I spoke to soon. Just dropped out whilst standing less than a metre from the console. This is dumb and I'm going to bed.

To be fair they were not even using the correct commands. They even couldn't identify the USB port on the controller. People from the chat had to point it out because they had no idea what it was.

In that case you would have the choice between this two options:

- 10-15W power consumption and be able to switch-on your console with the controller
- 0.3W power consumption without that possibility

10-15W is really massive to just want to have the option to switch on your console with a remote. A TV or current gen consoles can handle that with much lower power consumption (a PS4 as well?).

Would be great if someone could test that, if that´s really the case for the XOne.

Voice commands work good but I find the controller works much faster. I've only had a few issues with it not responding to commands but I think it's because you have to say the exact command. I've found that If there's background noise though it struggles to hear you.

I thought they should be 4000mAh? But those batteries are huge and won't fit in the controllers, :/

Also which charger should I buy for them?

That is admittedly really embarrassing considering they're supposed to be serious gamers.

Still trying to figure out where my active downloads are. If anyone figures that out please let me know.
Go to the games section. It has all your active installs and downloads. But I dont think it has the option to pause certain things or prioritise your downloads.

I thought someone posted earlier how to get to your active downloads by going to games or something.

That stream was embarrassing. I couldn't watch even 5 minutes.

While I understand what you're saying, how it should be a little more streamlined but we're comparing two completely different things here, voice commands and motion control.

I'm not compensating for the kinect voice commands but you can't just say anything you want to it, as nice as that sounds, you have to abide by it's preset commands otherwise you're going to look like a fool like the the gamestop streamers. Obviously they can probably fine tune the software and make it a litte more lax (user friendly) in the future but that remains to be seen.

10-15W isn't massive by any means and nothing compared to other stuff in your house.

Two normal AA Eneloops are almost 4000 mAh and will definitely fit.

has anyone that preordered from GAME in the UK been contacted this week to go in and pay in advance? they were supposed to be doing a thing where you could pay on the wednesday or thursday, so that at launch you can pick your machine up really quickly without being stuck behind people trading in a mile high stack of 360 games.

Are installs a separate process from download with XOne? I always liked how the 360 handled them

I thought so, but now that we are installing BF4 and looked at the queue, we saw that KI wasn't downloading.

Also, when we swapped discs we got SO MANY "Ryse has stopped installing" messages popping up.
