I was hyped for the ps4 and pre ordered that during e3, but because of launch lineup and xbox fitness, I want an xbox one for now with a ps4 early next year. I should have known DR3 would drag me back in. I didn't pre order though so I'm hoping to grab one at best buy or toys r us... Fingers crossed it doesn't sell out. Should I wait in line at midnight?

If you use voice commands to start the Xbox One, does it also automatically change the input setting on your TV or must you still do that by hand?

Just curious: How many Xbone day 1 people were also PS4 Day 1 people and do you think that influenced your game purchasing decisions? I bought 2 PS4 games and so far nothing for the Xbone largely because the PS4 is here now and DR3 is probably the game I would like most out of all launch titles not coming to PC. Had the releases been reversed I would have likely had 2 Xbox games and just gotten buy with the PS4 freebies. I will eventually buy some games for it, but there are too many games to fill my time already.

Note: The biggest factor in keeping my XBone preorder was Xbox Fitness, my wife will love it.

I'm so looking forward to it, Frontier really know how to make me smile.

Oh man, that's great. I cant wait to hear more/see reviews.

I'm a sony guy myself, came in the thread just to see the discussions of sony's competitor then saw this

... Wtf is wrong with people?

Neogaf has been like this for months, where have you been? 90% of the flack has been directed at the Xbox crowd.

People don't want/realize if you get all 3 consoles you win as a consumer. Instead they want the others to fail. That's society today

I preordered both. If there were X1 games out I would have picked up a few but Yesterday I purchashed BF4 and AC4 because I Didnt want to wait till friday. Im going to trade AC4 in for DR3 I think though. I feel you I was thinking the same way.

Actually the launch lineup is why I cancelled my PS4 pre-order. I will buy when the first real game I want comes out for it. Infamous is the first. Unless something else catches my eye.

I think the XB1 lineup is really good.

Just got me an extra controller at Wal Mart. Won't know how well it is till I get some playing time but I really like the form, weight, and everything about it at the moment. One more week :D.

I have preorders for both. Gaming is my big hobby so it makes sense for me to have everything.

I'm confused on how to do the TV integration with Direct TV. I understand the DVR functionality, I won't be able to do that while viewing the satellite signal via HDMI in on the xbox. However what about the menu system?

Is there some kind of method to make a IR list of activites, such as turn home stereo/cinema system on, change TV input, etc like a harmony romote since it has IR blaster all over your room?

No they just want to be able to justify their personal choice by belittling others choices.

Like I said in a previous post, I had both preordered. I finally decided last week which console to get. I went with Xbox. I know I'll have a PS4 early next year, but to start the next-generation, I wanted to go with Microsoft. I still have some time left on my Xbox Live. The exclusives for Xbox are more to my liking, and Xbox Fitness is going to be pretty awesome for someone like me, who started a diet a few weeks ago, and is now looking to start some exercising (lost just under 20 lbs so far!). Also, I think the UI is a lot "easier" to look at on the One. When it came to games on the last-gen, if they were coming out for both consoles, I would always go with picking them up on 360. My friends were all on 360. I liked the achievement system better on the 360. All of these things swayed me in my decision to go with the One at launch.

I had both pre-ordered, and now I'm only buying the Xbox One. Main reasoning for this is Killer Instinct, and the PS4's launch lineup really isn't interesting to me. I definitely plan on getting on down the road for Naughty Dog's games, but right now Xbox One seems like the better choice for me personally.

I really need a kinect extension cable....my stuff is centrally located and definitely not within 6 feet of the tv. I don't know why they can't make it direct wireless (see WiiU and PS4/Vita) and just have a separate power connection.

My PS4 is working well but I am not terribly excited for any games on either system at the moment...maybe that will change when I play them.

I'm going to buy an Xbox One in the coming weeks. I said I wasn't going to but, I can't help my itch to have everything. I want to experience everything and my inner nerd won't allow me to stay that ignorant anymore. I still have some xbl left so I'll just buy the system now, around black Friday, pick up some xbl cards for cheap.. I'm so excited! Now that I got the PS4, it doesn't feel so bad so I now can't wait to have an X1!

As much as everyone hates some of the X1 features.. Im super excited for the TV + Game feature. The scenario they show in the commercial with Ray Lewis is something I actually go through every sunday...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3H9vVleT7M (here is the video for reference)

This is a feature that is going to work out of the box right?

Hold on, friend! I'd love to share with you some swell news about the Windows 8 Metro UI! Wait, where are you going?
If you use voice commands to start the Xbox One, does it also automatically change the input setting on your TV or must you still do that by hand?

From what I understand it should change everything for you, like a Harmony remote.

On another note:

Does anyone have much experience with pre-ordering from Amazon? I pre-ordered in June and the estimated ship date has been Nov 25th since I ordered which was before they announced the release date. The estimated ship date still hasn't changed, is that something the change on the day they actually ship? I would suck to get my order a week later than everyone else.

you can control most of your set top box functions through voice and controller inputs - pause, rewind etc. You can search and use the integrated Xbox one channel guide, which uses your DirecTV schedule.

if you have a situation like mine, where your significant other prefers the TiVo control and guide until she gets used to the new features, just say Xbox, live tv" and (in your case) pass her the DirecTV remote and at that point its just a DirecTV. Make sense?

so if while on my TiVo guide in full screen I say "Xbox go home" the TiVo view and grid will appear windowed in my Xbox one dash.

mine is also set up to turn my tv and receiver on and off - you can tinker with that to suit yourself.

I imagine that the depth of functionality and macro style control will improve.

Thx

yes. And while on the guide (at least in the US) you can say"what's on HBO" and it will go to that location in your channel lineup. Same with any channel in your guide (DirecTV channels, the broadcast channels they carry and ones you add), from CBS to Netflix.

Do you have a system at home or in the studio?

Excited!

I've got the following on order and paid off.

Xbox One (Day One Edition)
Dead Rising 3
Ryse: Son of Rome
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

and I'm planning on grabbing these on the day too: -

Killer Instinct
Crimson Dragon

really tempted to grab a Day One XBL card just for Shadow Jago but I have to really evaluate just how important it is to spend that money, lol.

Somebody asked - I'm also grabbing a PS4 on launch too (29th). Killzone, Resogun Battlefield 4 and Knack. I was initially unsure of whether I should've kept my order but the Uncharted announcement has me excited again to just grab my PS4 and get that out of the way too. Oh and Infamous :3

I'm probably going to buy the XboxOne in the future, but I'm curious about the largeness of the hardware.

I'm aware this has been repeatedly rehashed, but it's funny how the power supply is still external.

Did Microsoft overcompensate to prevent overheating this time around? Any good articles written about the design of the box?

Question for people - I've already run out of HDMI ports, lol.

So what should I run through my Xbox One? I've got a WD Media Player - would that be my best option? I read somewhere running another console through it isn't really advisable.

(I'm still not 100% sure what the point of running something through it in the first place is - is it just to get snapping capabilities when you're using whatever device you're running through it?)

The guy on twitter that got his early (and got banned and then unbanned) said the power supply had been on for hours and was barely warm. Not sure about box itself.

Hope we have TV functionality in Canada.

I have my doubts

I use Rogers and I don't think any of their boxes support HDMI-CEC

at least I have never been able to control them with my tv :(

blaster method would work... I just wish MS didn't dump mediaroom and they'd push X1 as a bell fibe/telus optic TV box...

I would have dropped Rogers in a second for native IPTV control

Will the xbone have volume control through your receiver? If so how does it work?

I remember reading this somewhere, but found it on Wikipedia just now.

The console can monitor its internal temperature and adjust accordingly to prevent overheating; alongside increasing fan speed, additional measures can be taken, including forcing the hardware to run in a lower power state—a new feature that was not present on Xbox 360. Restricting power consumption lowers maximum performance, but the setting would be intended as a last resort to prevent permanent hardware damage.

This is a great article from Polygon: http://www.polygon.com/features/2013/11/1/5043870/xbox-one-industrial-design

Seems like they were scared of another RROD:

Over the course of the project Ledbetter's team built over 75 variations of the final Xbox One design. Engineers responsible for the guts gave Ledbetter's team feedback on each of these models, commenting heavily on the need for venting. It nearly drove Ledbetter mad.

I still think we'll get native IPTV on some cable providers eventually (maybe in a year or so). Time Warner mentioned in their Xbox 360 app press release that Xbox One details would be forthcoming... which means were getting something more than IR blaster

Yes. IR blaster

I really wish X1 supported a slingplayer streaming over internet solution just because I am forced to drop sling player because of the HDMI input :(

hell, I'd accept it even if restricted to local network (tablets)

that kind of feature would be killer.
