Xbox One Preview Members get early access to the Halo 5: Guardians Multiplayer Beta

if you go in to MCC there is a placeholder for the beta. I would bet anything that is the only way you'll be able to play it. I will eat my hat if there is a standalone app for the beta that is just for this weekend.

From OP:
The first code allows you to download the Beta to your console, and the second code is a small download that grants you access.
I would undo that bet lol.

MCC owners ARE being rewarded. Just a smaller percentage of them, only the ones in the preview program.

We all deserve a reward after the mess MCC has been.

You're still getting exactly what they promised you in regards to the beta. However now you're probably getting it in a more stable form because they're letting the preview members try a portion of the beta for 2 days a week before it releases for everyone else.

A more stable form? If the MCC is anything to go by, if this thing is broken, it'll stay broken for the entire time.

This not only IS a beta but is having a soft launch to make sure the big launch will work on the day it was promised, people still complain.

Is there anything that would satisfy you?
I'm the wrong person to ask since I don't even own the game.
It's just... seriously dickish to offer a product on the promise of SUPER DUPER AWESOME ACCESS as a major selling point and then toss the idea of getting first access out the window. The start of the beta has been something to cling on to hope with for people who have had awful luck with MCC.

I'm not even saying the actual testing is a bad idea! It's probably a great idea to test some stuff before the big wave starts given how MCC has played out. At least give the codes to people via random selection like a lot of PS+ alphas/betas/tests. Select out of people who have logged in with the game, etc., something, whatever.

joke's on you! I don't even wear a hat!

but for serious, I highly highly doubt they will have a standalone app for the beta when there is a launcher for the beta within MCC.

we'll see what happens tomorrow!

The first code allows you to download the Beta to your console, and the second code is a small download that grants you access. You will need to redeem both tokens on your Xbox One console or on Xbox.com to participate in the early access period for the Halo 5: Guardians Multiplayer Beta. Be aware that redeeming one token will not allow you to participate; both are necessary.
Bolded part kinda leads me to believe there will be an app or something to access the beta from. I'm guessing it'll be open to all preview members.

Okay, but that has nothing to do with this. Because MCC owners deserve a reward, nobody else can be rewarded for anything first?

(I own MCC, for the record)

They could be rewarded in a different way, seeing as we paid money for the MCC, while preview members got into that program for free, and are getting early access to something people have paid money for.

Ms seems to actively antagonize the halo fans these days. I wouldn't mind this move if they announced it before MCC ever launched. But after the launch and after the fiasco that has been the MCC release (that isn't resolved) it seems like another poke in the eye to their fanbase.

I don't think a few days extra in the beta is intended to "antagonise Halo fans". People should get used to preview members getting to try stuff first, its going to become a trend.

For everyone asking for invites, the post says it is only for people that were in as of this morning

Heh, got an invite to the preview program just last night. Pretty sure I deleted it on the spot.

Why? Once you're in you can opt-in and out of preview updates if you decide buggy releases aren't for you

I guess I will just have to keep beta testing MCC instead. Thanks 343!

It's not a beta test, if it's never going to be fixed. That game is broken at its very core. Thanks Microsoft for giving the beta to the people that are willing to put up with your buggy home screens and not the people that have been unable to play MCC since launch.

Yup. I figure if they're doing this for Halo it's probably going to happen for Gears too, among others.

Get in while you can.

Looks like I have a reason to open the MCC. Had purchased it from Best Buy during their B2G1 deal but never opened it. Glad something is here to make this not so stellar Preview Program worth it.

I just wonder if it is going to recognize I should get the Beta since I am just installing MCC right now? I have been in the Preview Program since Day 1. I was in the 360 one so got the invite for the One program right when it launched.
