Xbox One- what would it take to get YOU to buy one ?

The White Sunset Overdrive bundle has me sold already.

I am weak.

Nah, just capable of deciding for yourself. There's a strength required to make the unpopular choice and then come here and announce it where you'll likely be ridiculed for it.

I might get one if MS releases a new Xbox one model that is on par with PS4 hardware, but also cheaper ;d

As a nintendo fan, looking to expand his horizon, since ( lol no 3rd party on wii u ) ps4 looks far more attractive atm since it does have the better version of most of all the multiplats games.

I don't really care for Sony first party or MS's ones but sunset overdrive and Kamiy's scalebound atm do interest me a bit, if only MS built a more powerful machine =/

If you own a wii u i don't see how powerful hardware should be a deciding factor.

It's safe to say Sony has its own faults especially in the PS3 era. A list just as large can be made including many arrogant comments by its executives. No company is angelic.

Sony is a business, too. It might have said the right words during 2013, but they're the same.

Ultimately, I would have been so bored so far this year without my Xbox One. Forza 5, Killer Instinct, Titanfall, and Powerstar Golf have given me incredible value.

Yes because people not buying one are being pressured. What is wrong with you?

Ridiculed for it? So SonyGAF then?

I was always planning on getting one next year, the white Xbox One is just to sexy to pass up.

Because the WiiU has games that you wont get anywhere else, whereas the majority of the Xbone's library will have superior versions available on a console that costs the same amount of money.

I love powerstar, mostly because its the first game since Hexic 2 and carcassonne my wife actively strives to beat me at as opposed to just spectating. Got it on one of those Deals of the week, great bargain.

My friends don't want the machine at all yet and that's the biggest thing for me.

I don't trust 343 with halo so they need to show me that they can make a great halo. The halo reach update and halo 4 just didn't go over well for me and Halo is the reason why I bought a xbox when my ps2 broke. It's also the reason why I got a xbox 360 first.

The support for the 360 slowly declined last gen as the years went on and once I got a PC most games on the 360 were irrelevant to me. It went from being a multiplatform machine to a exclusive machine like the ps3 I got later on which is fine but it stopped giving exclusives I enjoyed.

Speaking of exclusives I enjoy there is only one game on the X1 I want right now and that's killer instinct which looks to be getting bigger the longer I wait. So a library of games I want to play, having a group of friends to play with, halo, and consistent support over the entire gen are the biggest things for me to consider when buying an X1.

KI was the best launch title on XB1 and I'm a Forza player since the first. I dont regret buying the XB1 but if no other game interests you (personally I'm looking forward to MCC) i'd hold off too.

What is it with you putting words in my mouth? I never said pressured or sonygaf. Defensive much?

Seriously, I think I'm done responding to you, you never address the actual words I say and beyond trying to twist everything I say to fit some view you have of me, the only other thing you've done is call me a name...

I'm new here, can you tell me how to block you?

Really hard to say anything besides a ridiculous price drop and some innovative exclusives. It just never feels right paying the same for a less powerful box so I would rather a PS4 if I was going to jump onto one of the "twins" - but even then lack of backwards compatibility on either makes me hesitant.

It is really too bad they couldn't show anything really interesting with the amazing Kinect2.

PC, WiiU, and 3DS owner

I need to see if Halo 5 can deliver. I am not a fan of where Halo MP has gone, and I'd like to see it return to classic H2/3 style. I'd like to play KI, but that isn't worth $400 to me.

Obviously a price drop would be needed, but I'd need more 1st party content to really sway me over the PS4. I'm currently rolling with my Wii U I got last Cyber Monday on the cheap bunduru.

That being said I'm not near as adverse to the Xbone as I was before and around launch. I just need to see a compelling reason to get it over the PS4 which in theory MS has as I like Halo more than any Sony franchise.

Ya the MCC looks great and I know i'd enjoy it but I feel like my money would be better spent on other titles that I have yet to experience. I also still have halo 1(and anniversary), 2, 3, odst, reach, 4, and wars at my disposal and have no issue playing them in their current forms if I feel like doing so.

What is it with you putting words in my mouth? I never said pressured or sonygaf. Defensive much?

You just said it took strength and that he was deciding for himself. I quoted you. I'm not putting any words in your mouth. You've been on this fanboy trek this whole thread.

Downplaying the RROD, saying that the guy that had multiple RROD had a dusty house. You're ridiculous. I've not seen this level of defensive talk since like one month after the Xbox reveal.

I ask again. What is wrong with you?

Backwards compatibility, or $200 and a collection of exclusive games I just GOTTA HAVE. (At least 6). Not getting fooled again. (That goes for the PS4 too, thus far KH4 is seriously the only reason I want either system)

Because the WiiU has games that you wont get anywhere else, whereas the majority of the Xbone's library will have superior versions available on a console that costs the same amount of money.

Wii U isn't the only console that offers exclusives though so it's not as if the One only offers multiplatform games.

No, i asked how do I block you. (anyone is free to answer this question by the way, how do I block this rabid fanboy?)

. I didnt downplay RROD, I related my own personal experience with it. I didn't even bring up RROD, YOU did. Remember? The guy with the failures never said they were RROD, thats an assumption YOU made. And yes, I did say he thought for himself (instead of making the popular choice) but I never said pressured.

you cant say quoted me when you use words that werent words i typed, its a requirement for it to be a quote.

Now really, since you don't seem to know what quoting is, nor do you seem capable of acknowledging that you have once to actually reply to something I typed instead of how you interpreted it, I ask again, how do I block you? You're no longer interesting enough to justify having to explain to you what quoting is. And now your back to name calling, fanboy and douchebag, lol. Its a good look on you, LoL.

Wii U isn't the only console that offers exclusives though so it's not as if the One only offers multiplatform games.

No, but the majority of the Xbone's library is going to be multiplatform, shared with the PS4 and PC. Whereas I would hazard a guess that a larger chunk of the WiiU's library is going to be exclusives that will probably never be on another platform. So if you want to play most of the WiiU's library, it doesn't matter that the hardware is weaker because you don't have a choice. That's not the case with Xbone.

No, i asked how do I block you

You are seriously hopeless.

Sigh, you just can't stop can you?

You seem to have a real agenda here. Just stop.

No agenda here chief, I just dont appreciate people dismissing out of hand my experiences as if they didnt happen or arent that common. Blanket out-of-hand denials (in the past by MS) are one of the reasons why I'm not getting one.

You are seriously hopeless.

Hi Mr Pot, I'd like to introduce you to mr kettle!

And with that I'm done, really for real this time. Please do continue to call me names and attempt to put words in my mouth, just know I've deemed that you rate no further replies.

The Last Guardian exclusive

...I already own PS3, PS4, Vita, Wii U and 3DS so odds are very slim. I would much rather save up for a decent gaming PC.

Hi Mr Pot, I'd like to introduce you to mr kettle!

Hiding behind semantics doesn't change the ridiculous spin you've been conducting for an entire thread. Being called out for it isn't negated by saying nuh-uh or pot/kettle. But I'll let GAF take care of it as posting the way you are never lasts long.

By the way, go to my profile and click Ignore. It's easy. You should be fine.

But, look how easy it is to share sony games? remember that video? that was so great.. they are so smart...

No, nobody forgot, they just choose to black it out.

Just like the Geohot mess...

All because of a stupid, misleading cutesy video about sharing...

Truth. And as an XB1 owner, I'll tell ya an underdog and motivated MS has been pretty damn cool. My XB1 has evolved quite a bit since purchase and I don't think its close to done yet. But yea, this guy you reply to should keep hoping the only real competitor to the console he's a legionnaire for goes out of business, because Sony has such a stellar track record of looking out for the customer, lol.

It's time for him to move past that cutesy but misleading sony sharing video from last year.

First of all why do you continue to bring up the sony sharing video when nobody else has even mentioned or spoken about it. Second how on earth can you claim it was "misleading" it was about the most straightforward matter of fact video ive seen out of a company in a LONG time. This bullshit strawman attributing everyone's "forgiveness" of Sony's many corporate fuck ups solely due to a zinger they made at E3 is laughable. You are completely ignoring everything they did right both last gen and current gen. They built significant value over the course of the generation with their first party studios and created a program that saw customers receiving a steady flow of games for a yearly subscription cost. They also championed independent studios and provided them with dev kits, funding and development support that they would otherwise never have been able to attain. They continued to support their platform with exclusives throughout its lifecycle even continuing to do so leading up to and following the launch of their new platform. They listened to what both devs and consumers wanted out of a console and incorporated that into their next gen system. Then, they proceeded to emphasis gaming as their focus in both their hardware and marketing leading up to their next gen release. This was all in stark contrast to what was seen from MS. Sony did a LOT of things right not just a "cutesy sharing video."

Of course it would be worse, sony brought out a 600 dollar console when there WAS competition and It couldn't even have better multiplats, Just saying.

Furthermore I find it absolutely ridiculous that you are equating a $600 pricetag and the lawsuit against someone who jailbroke their console against MS's attempt to force online DRM and games as a license down everyone's throats. The two are not even in the same ballpark.

lol that 3rd one is a bit of a stretch... and are you saying no warrior stuff goes on here, cause you know that's not true, right?

But yea, I guess if you want to label me such because I disagree that sony having no competition is a good thing, go ahead.

Basically there's like two of us who wont agree that MS is evil and theres no reason to own an XB1 and anyone who ever played on an XBox was fucked over by MS, and people keep yelling at us for it.

What is it with you putting words in my mouth? I never said pressured or sonygaf. Defensive much?

No, i asked how do I block you. (anyone is free to answer this question by the way, how do I block this rabid fanboy?).

You have been calling out people who gave reasons for why they would not be purchasing your preferred console because you did not agree with them. You put words into their mouths claiming things that they said or insinuated things that were never actually said and then you issue blanket statements calling them "console warriors" when they dare to refute you. I think you may just be looking into a mirror here buddy.

Quantum Break.

I need my dose of Sam Lake.

I'm afraid they are going to overhype that game like they did titanfall. I know i'll like it because I too have an Itch that Lake seems to know how to scratch, but I wonder how many "it didnt live up to the hype so i'm giving it an 8" we'll read about it.

You need to calm down man. I think you have some reasonable points in some of your posts, but you are being awfully hostile. It doesn't help to keep passive aggressively making victim posts either.

There's plenty of good things about the Xbox One, many of us know that. But throwing out "console warrior," douchebag," and "fanboy" does not cultivate a good dialog.

Basically, if you want your opinions to be respected you need to earn the right. Not saying you're wrong, but your message is getting lost in the delivery.

Will probably not be buying any games on the Xbox this generation but I bought one for Xbox fitness. going to purchase the p90x set next time I exercise.

The reason a big part of the Wii U's library are exclusives is because they system has barely any support as it is outside of Nintendo. There was a huge drought initially in the first year of the Wii U because of this. X1 shouldn't be chastised for offering more options. It's not as if Nintendo is making up for the lack of third party support with exclusive software, the Wii U lineup is barren this final quarter even with Nintendo's first party.

If you took away most of third party support from X1 you could say "Majority of the X1's library won't have superior versions available on a console that costs the same amount of money." But all that means is that you'll just have less options, not great first party support.

I don't think at this point can go back to consoles for any game. I started with PS1 and had hundred of games but now as a pc gamer can't think a game to purchase a system. For me consoles need to be competitive again (for me) to actually buy another one. Like free internet, more open, apps custom, with mod support and with no closed market. So there is more competition in prices for games.

I didnt say douchbag or fanboy, those were directed at me. I did say warrior, because theres some crazy warrior statements going on here, like it would be better for everyone if sony had no competition. That makes me a bad person it seems.

Its ok, I've ignored the people who yelled at me for saying my issue with RROD wasnt so bad, and that I don't want to live in an all sony world. So as I won't have people responding not to what I said, but to however they twist it, I'll be much more calm.

I'm not debating the reasons though, I'm just saying that's why hardware power isn't important.
Just like Alan Wake, pretty much. That studio gets way more hype than i would expect from playing their games.
To be fair, Max Payne 1 & 2 are still incredible. But Alan Wake was all style and no substance. And after the flaccid mess that was its plot, to hear that Remedy are putting even more emphasis on narrative is a little unnerving.

Mega Man Legends 3 bundle with Legends 1,2, and Tron Bonne HD remasters releasing that day as well.

No one else is bringing it to me, so MS can exclusive the hell out of it all they want.

You don't really know how many platform exclusives the One will ultimately build over time yet. Could be less than the Wii U's or it could be more but the One and PS4 are going to offer unique platform specific titles all the same.

Adding in games like Ori, Titanfall, Ryse, Dead Rising 3, etc. actually strengthens the One's library regardless of whether they're available on PC.

Nah, just capable of deciding for yourself. There's a strength required to make the unpopular choice and then come here and announce it where you'll likely be ridiculed for it.

Nah he made a poor choice to grab an exclusive game based on a new IP that looks average at best from all the gameplay videos posted.

The marketing might push this game into terrible/cringe worthy territory.

Well I would like to eventually get these games:

Ryse
Dead Rising 3

Future stuff I'm interested in:

Below (though only timed exclusive?)
Inside(same as Below)
Master Chief Collection
Sunset Overdrive
Ori and the Blind Forest
Quantum Break
Fable Legends
Halo 5

Way Future:

Scalebound
Crackdown 3
Gears of War

Nothing on this list screams Day 1 purchase other than Quantum Break and Halo 5. It seems for me the best time to jump in will be around Halo 5 release. Hopefully by that time the system will have had a major price drop and maybe a revision, and many more interesting exclusives announced or shown.

Right, but the point is that the significant library overlap with PS4 makes the power difference between PS4 and Xbone significant where the WiiU's hardware shortcomings are not because there is no significant library overlap.

This is what took me to buy one --- I owned a Playstation 4 since launch.

DriveClub was delayed. So I ended up playing Need for Speed Rivals instead. It isn't a terrible game; actually I quite enjoyed it. I also played Assassin's Creed Black Flag, which was good, though in the back of my mind I could have played it on my PS3 instead. Same with Rivals. Picked up Battlefield 4, which was also good, but i could have played it on my PS3 instead.

There was Killzone Shadow Fall. Saw it on E3, at the show floor....and it was really, boring. The graphics were spectacular when you weren't playing it. But the actual gameplay just felt really basic, and I got that impression watching a live demo of it at E3 2013.

There's Knack. I saw this demoed at a Sony store and it was....okay. It seemed like something you could play on current gen, with better anti-aliasing and more stuff on screen. Didn't feel like a must buy.

Several months passed and all I played on my Playstation 4 was Need for Speed Rivals. I was just waiting and waiting for DriveClub....which, incidentally, I had played at E3 2013 too (along with Forza 5). It was really disappointing to see it delayed for so long.

Eventually I got Infamous Second Son. Played this for about a month. It was the best game on my PS4. Really pretty, great framerate, felt good, lots of action, it was worth it.

Then there was nothing on the immediate horizon again for PS4. Maybe Destiny and DriveClub, but it was a long drought. Most of what PS4 will be getting looks like multiplatform games, which is great....but I was looking for some exclusive games that will really be memorable. Yes, I got Resogun too. Just okay for five minutes of distraction.

After E3 2014 and seeing Sunset Overdrive and the Halo Master Chief Collection, I got an Xbox One. I was originally one of those who was really pissed at Microsoft after E3 2013 but after the 2014 show I was convinced they were making amends. Well, they even fired Mattrick (or asked him to resign) and that was a good sign.

Picked up Forza 5. I never touched Need for Speed Rivals ever again. Still don't like their DLC policy, though. But the game itself is so good to play. I made the decision to pick up Horizon over DriveClub this Fall, just because of my experience with Forza 5. The developers of this game just nailed how 'driving feel' has to work in a video game. And the audio (car sounds) is incredible too.

Got Killer Instinct. I can't find a game online (probably due to my location in the world) but despite that, the A.I. is really fun to play against. Really pretty game.

Got Dead Rising 3. I think it's next gen; there's nothing with this level of carnage on current gen. I don't see any frameskips in this game. Playing is believing. I don't buy what Digital Foundry keeps on saying. Gears of War series games had frameskips but they never bothered me, the game is playable, and I think the same goes for DR3.

Got Ryse. Oh man, the graphics. It's a stunning looking game. Gameplay wise, it's pretty much Double Dragon, Final Fight or Streets of Rage. If you don't like those games you probably won't like Ryse. But I liked those games. The QTE stuff is fine, not as annoying as the press says.

Other things I liked about the Xbox One:

The Youtube player. I can't believe the PS4 doesn't have one. It's great for unwinding when there's nothing good on cable.

The Upload shows. It's kind-of like Youtube but curated by the Xbox team. These can be fun to watch and a lot of them are user-created stuff.

The layout on the dashboard. Just a lot of things to watch when you turn it on everyday. I love how they highlight game news or new previews.

What I didn't like about the Xbox One:

The massive updates when you first plug it in. I think this is their biggest negative point at the moment. When you buy an Xbox One it can't even work without downloading a day one update for the console itself. When I got the PS4 it would work immediately, even without internet. I think this is a big advantage for the PS4. Microsoft should reconsider their approach when it comes to selling new boxes.

That's about it.

TLDR: buy an Xbox One if it has games you want to play. If not, stick with PS4. Graphics / performance is not really the ultimate deciding factor--- just like last gen, and just like previous gens.

I have no idea how you can judge the game at all at this point.

Based on the fact that Alan Wake was an 8/10 with a poor narrative, and they're apparently going all in on the narrative in Quantum Break?

I'd love for QB to be really good I just don't see it from Remedy.
