Xbox One- what would it take to get YOU to buy one ?

i think there're well-reasoned and logical responses why people don't want the bone. the emotional attachment seems to come from the bone's main defender in this thread, pcxb1ftw.

Three of them are in that league. Like I said, I haven't seen this level of defense in months. It's like we time traveled back a year. I was going to say wait for someone defending the original Xbox one bullshit, but pcxb1ftw already started.

Wut the fuq. I'm just glad that @neogafshitposts documented it all. :lol

This thread has become interesting. Two things are true.

1. Its ok to prefer the XB1.
2. Its also ok to prefer the PS4.

Neither of these opinions are unreasonable or part of a big conspiracy to demean the fans of one or the other.

Thanks for this, it added so much to the discussion.

They are going to have to come up with some new exclusives because what they currently have isn't appealing enough to me. I realised last gen that I could get by with only one console. I hardly touched my 360 so it really felt like a waste of money.

I owned all 3 consoles last gen, and bought a mix of PS3 and X360 games. I'd usually buy MP games on PS3 because I did not see the value in paying for gold when none of my friends were there. When news that the 360 was plagued by the RRoD came up, I cut down on most 360 multiplat purchases and only bought exclusives for it. It made me dread the RRoD every time I turned it on. It finally RRoDed when I tried to play Halo 4 on it, which was way past the warranty. And you know what, I didn't care to replace it. All those exclusives on the 360 that I bought, they're not appealing enough to warrant me buying a new 360. I have mass effect on PC now, never completed lost odyssey and couldn't get past blue dragon. Gears of War, Fable, and Halo just don't have the appeal that I thought they had. I don't even care that I've not played a second of Halo 4 yet. So unless they come up with at least 5 exclusives that I really must have (current count is 0), I'm not going to get an Xbox One because I am satisfied with my PS4. I just can't justify buying another console only to have like 10 games for it over its lifetime anymore.

Also, at this rate, I would probably get a WiiU before I get an Xbox One.

Wasn't intended to. Just a recap of having to deal with crazy people all evening, as noted by @neogafshitposts, punkin.

And to think, none of this would be considered "shit posting" if the PS4 and Xbone's (sorry, PCXB1FTW, but I like that name for it) situations were reversed.

Quite the opposite as bad posters were defending the ps3 sad state at the beginning and being called out for it too.

Yea this pretty much speaks for itself at this point

Nothing. Got burned by X360 and can't trust them anymore on anything they say.

Also, they don't have the games I'm interested in except for maybe Sunset Overdrive.

Huh... I never really thought of it before, but my feeling is that at this point I probably could not care any less for a One. Truly, I find the Wii U much more desirable, and the PS4 still eclipses the Wii U in my level of want.

I already made my choice of system for this gen (ps4 + WiiU).

So at the moment...nothing microsoft does (realistically) is going to make me buy one.

I guess the 2 factors would be:

- Much lower price
- Many more exclusives

by which I mean that I plan to get one at the end of the generation.

But it wasn't more powerful...

I'm pretty sure what he meant was it played most of the multiplats better. Having played a handful of games on both the PS3 and 360, I can see a clear difference in the 360's favor. I actually find it hard to play multiplats on my PS3 just because of this and my 360 was the preferred multiplat machine.

jumped on the best buy deal to get the one for 150 bucks off when trading in a 360 plus 30 more dollars for each controller including 2 white ones. Traded that in, used a best buy movers coupon for 10% off my order and had 42 dollars on credit. Picked up my x1 and dead rising 3 for 210 bucks down from 478 after taxes (DR was used and ca taxes). I dont regret it at all. I think I actually prefer the x1 controller to the ps4. Just feels more comfortable and familiar. Sure I have a gaming pc/wii u ps4 etc but theres always those gems on each system I wish I could play. Should I hate waited for the pc version of dr3? Probably but the games fine on the x1 too. I enjoy turning it off then coming back turning it back on and picking up where I last played with no loading. The ps4 does that too right? I swear I've never had my ps4 do it for me even when entering standby mid game.

Forza Horizon 2 will push me over the edge, though I may wait for the white console. I might not have bought one for a fair while longer if it weren't for that game but it still has more to interest me than the PS4, which I only have already because I was able to get one new at half price.

How?

As long as Microsoft stands behind the Xbox I will never buy one. But if Samsung, Google or Amazon would overtake the Xbox brand I might considering to get one some day.

Sounds harsh but I really dislike the whole company of Microsoft. It´s not only their behavior in the gaming sector, it´s their behavior with everything that stands in their way.

And when it comes down to games I don´t believe MS has this enthusiasms that the other 2 have. With Nintendo and Sony I can see that their top peoples really care about games like Iwata or Yoshida. But with MS I don´t know. For MS it seems that market share and profit is more important then anything else.

I'm not acting like it still does. I just have a good memory and I'm not good at forgiveness.
May I ask what there is to forgive? None of the policies that MS announced ever came to fruition. So you're just holding on to contrived anger toward MS for something that never happened. Plus, there's really no such thing as one mega corporation being more trustworthy than the next, but for some reason people act like MS is the big bad wolf and Sony is mother teresa.

I rest my case

But it wasn't more powerful...

It ran games better. That's why. People naturally followed the trend. PS2 > 360 > PS4 > Xbox One

-----------

Let's be real. Everyone has their personal biases even while they own all. Doing the whole, "I'm not bias because I own everything" preaching isn't saying anything. Personal bias on everything exist, especially in game titles.

I hate this expression that someone is being less foolish or more mature because they own everything and any one who owns one over the other is being daft or immature. It's like great, good for you, that doesn't mean because I don't find this system to appeal to me means I'm being immature if I have reasons that you may disagree with with why I like one over the other. I didn't know it was wrong to not like something and must be kombaya for everything.

It's just an easy way to completely dismiss anyone's real concerns or dislike for something. It's becoming real stale now.

Quite the opposite as bad posters were defending the ps3 sad state at the beginning and being called out for it too.

No, it wasn't like that at all, especially after Uncharted came out. People weren't holding irrational grudges against Sony like they are with MS. People act like MS burned their homes and killed their families. Their mere existence is enough to anger people. Other corporations have done far worse things to people (and the environment, for that matter) to deserve hatred, inconveniencing how they play their video games is not one of them.

I hate microsoft because they touched me in my secret place. Nothing they ever do will make me forget what they have done to me. No game they ever release will make me give them a chance at forgiveness. Now every relationship I have with games is tainted because of them.

I'll consider it the day the Xbox One is officially suported in my country, half of the features won't even work here

Ugh, this.

There are people who aren't trustworthy of Sony after the hack. There are people who hate Sony for Other OS. There are people who don't like companies for various amount of things they do. Just because YOU are willing to forgive doesn't mean someone should not hold what you all would love to call a "grudge". A line has been crossed for some that they are not willing to throw money down to support.

It's absolute BS that anyone who feels this way is being ridiculous. What is MORE ridiculous is the assumption that anyone who holds the grudge against MS must think of Sony as some Gaming Savior when quite frankly, they were simply more clear about their vision and completely stuck with that. It's really that SIMPLE. If they mess up then the same will be said about them. This is so tiring to see in every thread when someone brings up the DRM situation.

It's how they feel and that's that.

I own both systems and really like both systems. Probably enjoy the Xbox more at this point but that probably has a lot to do with the the controller...lol. And to be honest my three most anticipated games this year will be on the Xbox (Forza Horizon, MCC, and Destiny). I could see next year being a heavy PS4 year, though. Anyways, I guess my worthless point is that both are worth owning...

How about some exclusives?

I mean the most anticipated game is a ......collection of old games. pretty freaking sad TBQH. and halo is really palyed out at this point. why cant MS create great new IPs like uncharted or last of us?

Make it cheaper then ps4, announce that Nintendo has teamed up with Microsoft to make mother 4..... okay seriously just tons of awesome exclusives. I'm really simple like that!

Well guess what? EA was voted worst company in the world despite the fact that Bank Of America scams people daily, BP poisoned a whole ocean and Comcast could care less about customer service, but obviously people didn't feel that those things compared to the EA charging Microtransactions, Forcing DLC and fragmentation with map packs, selling BF4 broken, etc.

So something are more warranted offenses than others even when your life isn't involved.

But it's funny you mentioned Uncharted. It seemed like it was a game that changed the overall perspective of the system. Hmmm, so maybe it's about games after all right?

Sunset Overdrive is going to be fantastic, as is Forza Horizon 2. The Halo collection is the most hyped because of how big of an online multiplayer game it's going to be. I know it'll be my go-to FPS for the foreseeable future.

Did u not see all the last of us threads lol the most anticipated game for ps4 around here was a remaster that most already played. They have exclusives u must be high.

One company actually tried to ruin gaming. People get to be mad.

Sony only had a high price and acted a bit assholish about it.

It's how they feel and that's that.

The DRM thing happened a year ago, still being angry about it (or not forgiving them) is holding a grudge. People normally move on after a small amount of time. I was recently pissed off about the lame Club Nintendo Gold and Platinum rewards. I expressed my disapproval of it in my Game & Wario survey and moved on. Hopefully NOA gets the message and things are better next year.

Not only that, they won it twice in a row (with the first one being laughable, thanks to the controversy over Mass Effect 3's ending).

Yeah, I think people start to shut up when good exclusive games start coming out for a system. They don't have much to talk about until that happens.

It's doesn't matter if it was a year ago, three years ago, etc. People are entitled to there feelings. There are people who will never buy a LG washing machine because their first experience with one is bad. That's reasonable and sound even if they made changes. This isn't life or death where you are required to move on. This is not a real life situation, such as a relationship when it's essential to move on for your health. It's a product you can choice to support or not. And if that reason has to do with business choices that one did not like and do not trust, there is nothing wrong with that. I don't know where this notion came from that you MUST move on and find something else to hate or love rather than the things that you do really hate.

And if there is something that changes people's mind, they will either accept that and go. It's ridiculous that labels are being thrown on people and their feelings because they are not allowed to feel some type of way.

Yeah, I didn't forget it, either, but it doesn't mean I'm going to hold it against them forever. Its not like they stuck with it.

Such an important point. MS changed their plans before a single person bought an Xbox One. People are avoiding the X1 for something MS abandoned 6 months prior to launch.

Honestly not sure. There is just nothing about the system that draws me in and nothing on the horizon either. It's the indecisiveness of MS too, bundle kinect but as a gaming peripheral do nothing with it, well that was pointless for nine months wasn't it. I don't think they know what they want so as consumers how do we know what's coming.

I also have/had a problem with the people who were the face of the gaming division. Mehdi, Mattrick etc, they've obviously made steps to rectify things in PR but a leopard doesn't change its spots and ultimately I find it difficult to trust this brand (xbox) with my money.

If you look at the xbox brand over more than a decade then is it any wonder that people have finally lost faith. They dropped the original xbox and the consumers that had bought it, they released xbox 360 and knowing the console was faulty releases it to the masses. Then they tried to pull the wool over people's eyes with always online and cloud computing.

I continously feel mislead, it's not about what would make me buy a Xbox One, it's about what would make me go near another piece of hardware with Xbox branding.

I'm not sure there really is anything, unless it's completely far-fetched.. like Nintendo going 3rd party only for xbox, or FFXV only coming to xbox.

I just honestly already have too much to play between 3DS/Wii U/PS4/Vita

I might get one in the future, my current PS4 and Wii U set up is scratching my gaming needs currently.

I don't dislike the Xbox One, and it was great to see MS listened and changed the vision they had for the better, but unless they bring out a must play exclusive for me then I'm happy with what I have got.

I also found that when I owned both the PS3 & 360 I hardly used the 360, and ended up selling it, and I could see that happening again if I bought an Xbox One.

Right now? Drop the price another $100 and I might start to pay attention. That's unrealistic but not much else would get me to buy one right now. It's the lingering impact of the original vision of the XBO that left it a bit hamstrung in terms of performance and not enough significant software exclusives to compensate. I'm an older gamer at this point, really have neither the need nor the time to OCD on every piece of game paraphernalia just for the sake of boosting my gamer cred. One console is enough but I'll always keep my eye on the alternatives. Maybe in another year or two when the price is down and enough unique content has built up for the platform.

having owned both systems, I can also say I never turned my xbox one back on after getting my ps4

Booting up the PS4 was more welcoming, plus there was a large selection of games in the store

I think on xbox one, I had the choice of....Hot Shots Golf and Max

where PS4, I turned that puppy on, and I had DC Online, Warframe, ect ect, a lot of choices outside of the multiplatform titles

But to each there own...Xbox One felt bland to me, snapping wasn't something I was impressed by, I don't -need- to play a game and watch tv, I like to focus on just one thing.
Plus, no incorporated DVR features on the xbox one killed that TV aspect for me.

So yeah I'll add that to the list, if they allow me to program my cable boxes dvr through the xbox one, I would move that to the top of my list of complaints I wanted fixed.

Say what now? there must be a mix up lol
