Xbox One X Preorder Thread

I do hope that Microsoft does another free cable program for those who have the OG Xbox One and Kinect. I still want to use Kinect with the X.

Bummed I missed out on the free promo with the S.

Same, I just bought a Kinect a couple months back and I like it for voice commands and stuff.

That would be nice. I have two Kinects but only one adapter.. When I trade in my OG I'll need a second adapter. They're like $40 each aren't they?

Yeah, $40 :(

MS had a free promo with the S for a limited time.

This. I'd imagine there are quite a few of us of Xbox one owners upgrading that skipped the s and would benefit. Microsoft pls

I never believe these "whisper silent" claims. People said that about the PS4, the PS4 Pro and the Xbox One as well. I can hear all of them.

My One S is pretty quiet since I got the fan fixed with the warranty. The PS Pro on the other hand sounds like a vacuum when playing pro patched games. I'm hoping for at least some middle ground with the X.

Can anyone think of any good reasons why I need one of these when I have a killer gaming PC? For some reason, I really want one but I am struggling to justify it.

Other than the UHD Blu-ray playback (which I could get for ~$100 with a player), I am coming up short.

For those in need (and in the U.S.) it looks like Target.com still has pre-orders available. If you sign up for a Redcard you can get 5% off as well. I have one that's just tied to my debit card.

I mean, the UHD Blu-ray thing sounds like you might want a One S just for that, previous exclusives that won't hit PC, and backwards compatibility. Otherwise you'd probably be happier with your high-end PC from the sounds of it. I'm the exact opposite as I don't have the time/patience/interest in building a PC. Xbox fits in perfectly as a replacement.

Play Anywhere titles?

Other than it being a damn fine looking piece of tech, I think your PC might cover what you need.

Depending on your setup of course, if you want an easy 4k-apable machine in your front room, could be worth it.

Best buy needs more stock, I wanted to grab it from their on my best buy card but they were having issues and were unable to pre-order it. later turns out it was an issue with their system and they were sold out.

No more stock anywhere (for now) it appears. Good luck in the future.

I don't think the "regular" X1X will be difficult to obtain. It's just the "limited-edition" that's gone for now.

Unless you prefer console gaming over PC gaming (which by the sounds of it, you don't)........then frankly, no. Not at all.

Or is this just a rhetorical question
and in some cases shitposting maybe?
as it keeps getting brought up over and over again and I'm too naive to notice?

Xbox and Xbox 360 BC?
If there are a significant number of titles that wants that he can't already get on his PC - then this is a good point. And since he has a "killer gaming PC" I'm assuming performance always matters for him, so having the X1X over a 360, OG XB1 or XB1S will be cost-justified.

If these apply to you:
1) You like the brand and want to support it.
2) You like collectors editions and the Scorpio Edition appeals to you.
3) You feel you want the latest and most powerful versions of your consoles (PS4 Pro and/or XBOX One X).
4) You like the services/offerings on the XBOX platform.
5) You like the Backwards Compatibility feature.
6) You can take the system anywhere you like easier than a gaming PC.
7) Other reasons.

That's a reason to buy an S, not an X, isn't it?

For most - yes. But for someone stating they have a "Killer Gaming PC" they are probably very in tune with having the best performing games possible, which the X will give better performance for BC games than the S will. (from my understanding at least - correct me if I'm wrong)

So for that particular poster - then the X is probably worth it.

My local GameStop still had preorders this morning, kinda not interested in the project scropio edition, but I'll take it.

My OG One was inaudible, with the exception of the power supply which emitted a faint, but high-pitched whine. My One S can be heard from 10 feet way with the volume muted. I went through 3 PS4 Pros before I could find one that wasn't truly offensive, but even the current one can sometimes be heard 10 feet way during quiet gaming sessions.

These things are all manufactured with a stupidly wide variance

This is (unfortunately) very true. I'm hoping for the best with my One X.

Same boat here. I got a i7-7700 with a GTX 1070, but I want try out Halo 5 in 4K. Is it worth $500 though??

Better performance on the X especially with GPU dependent games. Also 16x AF.

Fair enough. If I had a killer gaming PC, I was thinking I wouldn't want to drop that much on the X compared to the S but I can see the point.

Another reason to get the 1X if you have a killer PC might be HDR. Getting HDR working on my PC has been a huge pain in the ass that i've just about gave up. On my PS4 pro, it's handled by the system, you don't have any fiddling to do. I imagine it will be the same on the 1X. Not sure if this is worth it to you though.

I decided to get the 1X for the UHD player... had gamestop GC (bless you GAF) as well that made the purchase a no brainer.

I understand, I was just from the viewpoint that if someone was willing to drop that $$$ required for a killer gaming PC, then what's an extra $250 to get the best BC game performance.

I'm still waiting for a decent game to use HDR on the XBX. I mean, I have my LG B6 and the HDR content I have access to is limited.

Guy that is currently at gamescom reports that the PS Edition has gradient from dark grey to black as you can see in the image below that was taken there. I am personally not happy about that if the color difference is indeed that visible!

You could get hit by a bus tomorrow?

You're alive for a short time, always do what makes you happy*

*unless of course what makes you happy today fucks something else up.

Hmmm. Not sure about this. Black or White is fine but the gradient jars.

I'm hanging on to my pre-order for the time being, but I'm probably going to cancel it for the standard, black, one.

That does look odd but may be an effect from flash in the shot or something? Surely if it was actually that severe under normal conditions it would've been noticed in one of the videos by now

lol, the scalpers don't even try to hide it.

Amazon cancels my order claiming I was using multiple accounts to bypass their limits (I wasn't) and cites "trying to be fair to customers and not people trying to resell on sites like ebay"

Yet... this dude isn't even trying to hide it. Good on him lol

No way people are actually buying it at that price.

Is the only difference with scropio edition and normal one the text, or is the texture special also?

I really like it personally. But had hoped it was an actual texture

The image has not a very good quality tbh. Here is another shot with a little more distance and better light and something to compare to

The lighting is definitely messing with the image. Take a look at the stand and compare how it looks on the right side (top side of X1X) compared to the rest of it. Besides, in the unboxing videos on YT, you can see the gradient, but is is not that drastic.

I really hope so. I take you by your word ;)

Woah! I had no idea that the color gradient was there. I just thought that was some interesting texturing on the entire console. Honestly I really like that look. It'll keep the box from just blending in completely with my entertainment center without looking too jarring. I love my One S, but the white stands out quite a bit right now.

Bring on November 7th! Between this and the Assassin's Creed Origin's information that Mike Ybarra just tweeted I'm a happy camper!

Edit: This unboxing video has the best view of the console yet. The gradient is definitely noticeable but I quite like it.

OH I actually quite like that, it's a really nice grey to black.
