I bought my series S to play my library at a bettwe performance/fidelity.
The exclusives are lacking brother. And I've been with Xbox since the Duke was mandatory.

I have both PS5 and XSX and also a not so good PC that i don't really play on just checking demos on it. I enjoy both my consoles, i think i play more on PS5 but have my fair share of XSX gaming, like in the last 2 months i played both A Plague Tale Requiem and High on Life on Game Pass and had a blast, now i will be honest and say there's been some months i didn't play on XSX, that's because i have a limited taste in games, and GP doesn't have enough games i like so there's that, Also if you own a good PC then there's almost no reason to buy a Xbox console as all Xbox games are day one on PC.
Overall i don't regret buying both consoles, especially with the studios MS bought, that eventually will have games you can only play on Xbox if you don't game on PC.
Halo infinite and Psychonauts 2 were also great on XSX.

What i always find weird with exclusive questions is how many of these exclusives will you actually end up buying/playing? Also just because sony, ms, nintendo releases exclusives whos to say they will be good/your cup of tea? With all the games avail from indie to aaa by 3rd party devs how can someone not find games they can enjoy and play throughout the year? Are exclusives the only way to enjoy gaming? Does no one else makes good games?
Only nintendo fans should be worried about exclusives since their 3rd support is horrible.

I think their current-gen lineup has been completely underwhelming. I'm with you on that.
But I think the same of Sony's PS5 current-gen lineup. Most of it is made up of cross-gen games anyway. I personally found Ragnarok to be underwhelming.
With that in mind, I think the Xbox has been the better experience over the last couple years, simply due to Game Pass and backwards compatibility. I've played so many games with my friends, because we all had access to those games. I discovered games like Day Z, which I never would have purchased, on GP. I've replayed favorites like Ninja Gaiden Black and Metal Gear Solid 3 in glorious 4K or HDR for the first time.
So while I do agree with you, I think that GamePass and backwards compat have been the saving graces of this gen.

Buy a PS5 if that's what you want. Don't base your ownership of an Xbox as part of the decision.
If the ownership issue is still bothing you, then sell the Series X if you want. Decide later if you want to buy another Series X or maybe even go Series S.
I have all of the consoles but there's also 3+ people in the house that enjoy gaming. So I would never sell any of my consoles but then again none of them gather dust.

I own both Series X and PS5, and I've been happier with what Xbox is offering this gen more so than PS. And this drought might be a big deal if my backlog wasn't so big. I don't have time to play games like I used to.

Maybe it was the wording 'cause i see people insisting on the "exclusivity" thing but :
Exclusives = games that are made with a big budget (usually) as to be able to display the hardware's capabilities.
DOA3 was a system exclusive and it showed the OG XBOX's potential, same with Panzer dragoon orta and Ninja Gaiden (remember how Itagaki kept mentioning the Xbox's hardware in interviews).
Gears of War = xbox 360 exclusive, 1st real taste of "next-gen" gfx back then.
God of war trilogy = PS exclusives, all pushed the PS2 & PS3 hardware.
The last of us 1 & 2= ^ same thing.
Gran Turismo series = always pushing the envelope tech/gfx-wise
That's not always the case obviously but there's an association between "exclusive" and "big budget production".

I have been playing Forza Horizon 5 and Sea of Thieves off and on with my friends since launch, Rocket League the last 5-6 years, and now Modern Warfare 2. Sprinkle in a backlog of SP games I still need to beat, and there are no moments where I yearn for something new to play, except Starfield. Bethesda and Rockstar are the only two devs that stop me in my tracks.

I shit on them but the story of microsofts first parties has been a roller coaster. For a while i think they were under the impression that they didnt need first party studios to be successful. That was proven wrong and they’ve spent the past 5 years trying to catch up. The problem is that one triple a game takes about 5 years to make so by the time they acquired these studios they had to wait for them to finish their commitments.

As somebody that has on MULTIPLE occasions sold a console when I wasn't using it much only to buy it agin down the line (sometimes multiple times...looking at you WiiU) I'd say you'll probably regretted it.
Hell I'm guilty of it within the past couple months. I sold my XSX to my buddy who's a big Bethesda fan and I've already purchased a new one...
I'd say get a PS5 now if you can afford it and hold onto the XSX.

Having both a XSX & a PS5 is so redundant. There is no reason to do that unless you have the comfortable financial means to do so. May as well add in a gaming pc too at that point so you can have three versions of the same multiplat games.
PS2 and XBOX were a different story. It was a totally different experience on both systems, much less on PC at the time.

I was a Dreamcast to Xbox gamer as well. Unfortunately, all those great Sega franchises from the Saturn, Dreamcast and OG Xbox days aren't coming back. Although with Sonic Frontiers and PSO2/New Genesis, a sliver of the past is still there.
The OG Xbox had a bunch of great FPSs and Western RPGs as well. With the acquisition of Bethesda/id, Obsidian and InXile, Game Pass has FPSs and WRPGs in spades. Take a deep dive into those genres while waiting for the next big release. Almost every single game from the Doom, Wolfenstein, Elder Scrolls, Pillars of Eternity, Quake, Fable, The Bard's Tale and Wasteland series is on Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate.

PS5 grants you access to all the great Sony exclusive content.
Xbox Series X grants you access to Game Pass and MS 1st party games.
There is a strong case to be made for owning both systems.
Pretty much. Ps5 is a must have because returnal, demons souls etc
XBX is a must have because.. well it saves money with Gamepass currently (and Sea of thieves is a must have imo). Nothing else currently exclusive is a ”must have” - but the Bethesda stuff IS coming

Not trying to convince you to do that, Giallo Corsa, but have you tried Sea of Thieves or Grounded? I think this is the stuff that xbox excels at the moment and does better than anybody else.
But judging from your story, it's obvious you want to play these 7-8 games that xbox can't give you. Now, it's up to you if you want them now or sometimes in the future.

Oddly, I did acquire it for the exclusives (of previous generations). I do not know any better way to play Dead or Alive 4, Fable 2, Forza Horizon 3, Ninja Gaiden 2, Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, and Dead Rising 2: Case West. It also has the titles from the PS3/360 era that are hard to emulate or find nowadays.
I look forward to news of the new Fable, but Gamepass has provided me with enough new entertainment to justify the purchase.

Folks keep looking past Obsidian, but I am personally a huge fan of inExile (Brian Fargo, swoon). They are all building up their studios, and some great stuff is around the corner. But if not Xbox, then grab a PC to get some of these cause they're going to be awesome (and plus the PC has a shit ton of other exclusive to it and "better on PC games" like RTS, strategy, etc).

get the ps5, sell the Xbox, use the money to buy a PC and install the Xbox app. That way you still have the part of Xbox that matters (the exclusives and gamepass) and you don't have to wait for Playstation stuff
