Now they're out of stock of the X in eastern, central Europe. Now would seem the sensible time to push it.

Whats going on is that they sold 400k units in November. Whereas in November 2017, 4 years into the gen, Xbox One had its best November ever selling well over a million units.

Turns out, telling people not to buy your console is retarded.

I can't believe they thought they were going to be able to sell consoles without advertising them

Its actually fucking nuts

They don't seem to understand that consoles are the entertainment business.

How microsoft remains one of the Worlds most successful companies will always be confusing to me.

1) Windows is now a bag of shite

2) everyone I know who uses Teams absolutely hates it

3) they use endless numbers of contract workers, leading to a total lack of joined-up development in most of their products

4) they stuff Copilot into everything

5) They can't decide wtf their videogame business is and then make that explicitly clear to their customers.

And yet they make assloads of money. They're just a bit shit but their shareholders don't seem to give a fuck.

Must be nice to have so many government licences that you don't need to make any real effort.

Can they really not stick to one vision for more than a week? Do they have different PR teams competing with each other or what's the deal?

I honestly struggle to think of a worse marketing strategy I've seen.

They need to be teaching this to show people what not to do with a product.

as is telling people that everything else is your console...

Feels like an explanation post after a genuinely confusing and bad ad campaign. And they still haven't explained how much of the Xbox experience you actually get on other devices. Can't rely on cloud and there are no official legacy Xbox emulators. I want DF to go test that "This is an Xbox" strategy.

Bureaucracy. That's how.

Like I said in another thread, there will be business books written about this installment of the console wars.

The stupidity that Microsoft has been serving up in this market since 2013 has to be studied by all business majors.

People in business use Microsoft products because people in business use Microsoft products. We will never escape this cycle.
