I do think there are those that have said xbox hasn't had games for years but there seem to be quite a few frothing at the idea of being able to buy the games. It's all a little confusing from all sides tbh.

I wonder if them licensing Xbox OS to third party means that they might try to go Android route? Though ideally they should have unified Windows and Xbox OS or created a compatibility between them.

I get, this is a rumor. But you (and I've seen others) are adding in stuff that isnt even implied like games being ported over along with Game Pass.
Yeah thats a possibility, but all we're going on is games being ported. Thats it. And lets be real....older tentpole games are probably off limits. But games after the the big acquisitions? Indiana Jones, Hellblade 2, Avowed are probably on the table. Added Hellblade 2 because it might fall in the niche category.
I swear in separate threads with different ppl we are witnessing the beginnings of meltdowns.
Funny you say this, because the parallels with what happened with Windows Phone are so similar. Granted they were already doing the OEM thing, but they tried unifying the OS at that time too. Windows Phone wound up being the one left behind.
I keep saying, ppl should pay attention to what happened with Windows Phone. Not saying the same end result will happen...but the similarities are interesting.

No offense but this is your own fabrication, the only word on this is that they’ll release games on platforms where Gamepass exist.
This is why they need to talk, they need to detail their plan and not leave any room for misinterpretation.
Because they’re not in control of the message until they talk, the lack of detail combined with social media will soon make it sound like everything will be multiplat. It’s difficult enough to control the message even when they talk since every opportunity to misinterpret something will be everywhere in the hunt for clicks.

They're getting obliterated in sales; it's clear that their focus on Game Pass is paramount over the console sales themselves, which just kinda...doesn't bode well.
Sony has hit after hit coming right now in TLOU2R(regardless how you feel, it still sold very well), FF7R-2, Helldivers, Ronin, Stellar Blade all within these few months. We still don't know what awaits the rest of the year, nor what their first party is up to.
I'm not sure what Microsoft has been doing of late. I don't know if it's just their missteps finally caught up with them and they're scrambling, or if they really just want to transition into this sub model that I'm not entirely sure gamers want.
They've got to find a way to make that $69B worth it and it may result in just various games coming to PlayStation and Switch 2.
I wonder how much this change in strategy will alter Elder Scrolls VI or a future port of Starfield, considering Zenimax is supposedly the source here.

And again, what does controlling the message do to sell xbox units today. You're assuming they'll eventually deny the rumors, because that is the only thing that would slow the stem of concern from the xbox community over the future of xbox. Commenting on it at all other than to say it isn't true hastens the end of xbox.
How does them saying they're releasing games multiplatform control the message today that not commenting on it doesn't?

It’s not added, it’s the only official word on new Bethesda games outside Xbox, was said by Phil after the acquisition. Something like : This is about delivering great games on platforms where Gamepass exist.
And that Tim guy said in late 2023 that they want Gamepass on every screen. Gamepass everywhere is their endgame dream scenario.

GP has a very low ceiling, incl PC where it isn't taking off at all.
The only way forward for MS, if GamePass is going to be their 'platform', is get it onto every platform possible.
Otherwise, it's a dead end.
That's why I'm curious to see if Sony and Nintendo are willing to allow it and at what cost.

With the reality of Microsoft going multiplatform becoming more and more likely, what games would actually buy on PS5 or Switch? Assuming these releasesd for the same price they are now, but potentially more.

It is such a shame that they dropped Windows Phone. It was so good (granted companies did not develop apps for it). Some stuff from Windows 8 and Windows Phone era was kinda (it was basically attempt to become Apple but it failed) cool - especially AI integrations + unified windows kernel, that would be amazing. And as Windows supports Android app nows, it would have opened a lot of possibilities. If they started producing their own silicon (like ARM), maybe there is a chance for return.

If Xbox doesn't go more multiplatform then they have to take a machete to studios they paid serious cash for, so if they DO want to publish games on Sony or Nintendo's platforms then they will do it on their terms.
This isn't 2020 anymore, the foreclosure strategy has been tried and has failed already.
I would be shocked if they get the 80/20 split Kotick used to get from Sony.

I think you're assuming multiple things in jumping to conclusions and the need to accuse people of being disingenuous. For example, someone might have a casual interest in an Xbox game, but not enough to think it great or buy an Xbox console for it. I'm sure there's a lot of casual interest. But thats different from thinking the game is amazing. It's not where I am as I have an XSX, but I can totally understand why someone else might not think much of Xbox as a first party, but still not mind giving a couple of their games a go.

As a PC gamer I have nothing to prove (and I own most of MS games on steam), but Hi-Fi Rush, Forza series and even Starfield will benefit tremendously from the DualSense support.

Fair enough. But, it is once again polar opposite to what I have been told. ABK was Satya's idea. GamePass as a subscription service was Ybarra's pitch initially which he isn't happy about not getting enough credit for it.
And, Phil wanting GP on PlayStation/exploring MP games on PS is when they were in absolute doldrums without an open coffers from Satya to swim in. It predates the situation before consolidation happened. After that, they wanted to corner PlayStation, leaving them no choice to either give in to Xbox or leave the business. However, let's agree to disagree.

Mike never told me GamePass was his idea and if he was disgruntled about not getting credit for it I would have 100% heard about it.
He told me about a month in advance about him leaving Xbox (which I am pretty sure I shared those receipts with Mod of War) and he never mentioned being upset over Gamepass
He told me several other reasons for his decision which a couple of have never been made public
