Stupid...just stupid.... I have all consoles,if my PS5 can play all Xbox games then why the fuck do I need an xbox again?
What does it matter? If you like Xbox games, just buy them on your PS5.

Things change. He doesn't run Xbox, nor does he work there. The people he gets his leaks from can be right until they aren't and it seems like Microsoft keeps evolving it's stance over time. it happens.

Because one of my 3 investments becomes a paperweight?

What kind of a question is that?

Ofc it matters, exclusives differentiate the experience of each platform, without that might as well play everything on PC and just kill consoles altogether since a console now costs as much as a PC anyway, right?

You would have to be a brain dead person to believe Phil's stupid lie of just these 4 games from earlier in the year. At this point no sane person believes that Xbox will have any console exclusives.
yet Jez "super blogger" Corden still is trying to spin and damage control.

Xbox will not even have temporary exclusives

Sounds like hyperbole. Microsoft typically supports their products long after death. Xbox 360 still functions online, you simply cannot buy games on it any longer since July 2024. But also, they've dictated that they are making more consoles, and from the way the OP's tweet reads, they will get first party launch exclusives, then bring them over to PS5. So no, your Xbox isn't and won't be a paperweight.

How ? Your Xbox will still play the same games as it did before they started making games for PlayStation.

Trust me this is the better option for you as a Xbox fan because the Xbox games would have ended after all the low sales .

This is survival

It's good to hear this come from someone like Jez. If he's getting it, then everyone else must be - you'd hope so, anyhow. I still run into Xbox diehards occasionally who seem in denial about it.

In my mind, it still remains to be seen 1) how long the exclusivity windows will be, and 2) whether the backcatalog of exclusives comes as well or whether this just pertains to future exclusives.

It seemed very likely for a while now, but for me it was confirmed after Indiana was announced for PS5 before the game was even out and now with the Outer Worlds 2 being on PS5 day one. The only question I have is what happens to their older releases and if they'll be porting all of them.

That's bullshit because he should've just left it at the first part. By adding in the "fanboy hopium" he inserted himself into the mess like everyone else that's backtracking.

I guess Microsoft is gonna go same route as Saga and become publisher instead.

I don't blame them, at this point they have no hope able compete with Sony and Nintendo.

For BC if you have a big legacy library and for Gamepass and your Gamerscore. Maybe your friends list too. Controller perhaps. Those are the only reasons I can think of.
I swapped to PC. No regrets.
But I use my PC for Sony games as well so no real difference there. Gabe is king now.

Gamed with a few people that knows stuff

I would bet huge amounts of cash they will still have Xbox labeled hardware just maybe not a traditional console

Phil Spencer said there would be more Xbox "consoles". Anything you hear contradict the "console" part specifically?

Well they got to finish off the old inventory.
Nahh we will get new "consoles" from them

Not many times I plant my flag on a hill but this is one of them.

Everyone knows about the handheld but that's so far off who knows where that will land

Just talked specifically about something much more powerful (even if it may be PC based)

Ah....so console will be the handheld, but other hardware will be PC based. Pretty much in line with our speculation months ago.

3 options will be available…😜

Yeah, the timing of this is quite telling.

It comes right after Indiana Jones flopped, so it's clear that MS needs Playstation sales to actually have game sales.

GamePass isn't growing either. It'll probably stay at ~35M max for the foreseeable future.
