Xbox will show the PlayStation logo in their showcases from now on, says Phil Spencer

The way this is going there'll come a time when certain MS published games won't even come out on Xbox anymore because the sales aren't worth it...

If the Series S parity rule remains then weā€™ll see plenty of PS5 games not on Series consoles.

Both from Microsoft and other third parties.

"And I know itā€™s not what everybody else is doing, but I just believe games should be the thing thatā€™s at the forefront. Maybe itā€™s because of how Iā€™ve grown up in this industry."

I agree. If games had been at the forefront of the last Xbox console generation, I do not believe Xbox sales would be as poor as they are now. Letting a flagship title like Halo go through what it went through...

Does Microsoft display the PS logo in game for crossplay games? I've noticed in Space Marines 2 that PlayStation shows a TV screen logo for Xbox.
I would think so, considering that Fortnite you can see skins from Xbox or PS IPs on either machine. It's all game dependent and whether devs add it, probably.

"""and we actually even had this discussion last year for the June showcase, and by the time we kind of made our decision, we couldnā€™t get all of the assets done and it felt weird to have some of them in and some of them out"""

Of course Phil, it was "impossible" to put PS5 in the trailers for Gears, Fable or Perfect Dark xDD, you don't even believe it yourself, you just didn't want to piss off your user base any more.

Because Phil was probably fighting management to advocate for the Xbox platform last year. Do you really think he likes Microsoft retching control from him over the direction of Xbox? You could tell he didnā€™t agree at all, but at this point itā€™s get on board or get lost - and he chose to get on board.

Whatā€™s good for Microsoft is not good for their customers. This has been the case for their entire history as a company, so Iā€™m not surprised they want to enshittify their platform this way.

Its already there.

Xbox and Square Enix have made a big deal about games coming to Xbox.

SE is gonna be mega disappointed when they realize their games arent going to sell jack shit on that platform at all.

Xbox has conditioned their users to only subscribe to Gamepass and not buy games.

Gamepass is the ultimate catch 22 for Microsoft.

A gaming industry CEO engaging and doing interviews with these no-name podcasters is so fucking weird to me. You will never see Hideaki Nishino and Shuntaro Furukawa doing shit like this.
At this stage, Phil isn't doing anything else.

MS won't fire him because they'll have to pay his liquidated damages clause, Phil won't quit because he has no pending offers to go elsewhere, and so we're at an impasse where he is a man on the inside with zero influence on where the Xbox ship is headed. Might as well live it up while you can because once he's out, the emails and phone calls asking for his time and input are going to dry up.

Not only that, after June they were still being coy about how many games they would port, so well he is admitting he was lying.

I think he is pretty transparent and I appreciate that, and I mean that by a corporate executive he's more open than most. I don't care about platforms I care about good games.
Phil Spencer transparent and open?? Your joking right? A quick Google search tells a complete different story. I 'am not gonna post it here, it would be a wall of text, but Phil was everything except "transparent and open". He has been talking as a second hand car salesman for years...

Yep. He's been Captain Ambiguity for over a decade.

But now the writing is on the wall...

And itā€™s about time. Xbox needs to focus on games. So far they havenā€™t been able to do that at all for two generations.

To get 3rd party games on GP, Xbox is paying publishers a large sum to cover potential loss in sales, though.

It's mostly Xbox that is hurting from it.
