Xbox World 360 asks: "What game is this?"

Am I alone in thinking a Goldeneye remake makes no sense?

Sure, it has nostalgic value, but that's about it. Has anybody tried playing it recently? It's not too special compared to newer stuff.
Besides.... does anybody care about James Bond anymore?

why do any old arcade games get remade/rereleased on XBLA and other online services? And why do they often sell like hotcakes?

isn't it the second magazine to claim "excusive" there ? or is it the same that I've already seen ?

That issue has been out for a few weeks now.

Thanks. I appreciate it. And yes, I would guess Goldeneye as well. But a full-on remake? Hmm..

On second thought, I'll just assume they're ripping a page out of IGN's book and this is Tomb Radier: Underworld for Xbox 360.

I don't think it'll be a complete remake, although I do think that they will update the textures, given that so many of them were repeated ad-nauseum through the game it shouldn't take long either! :D

Would have to have dual-analogue controls either. When I look at an N64 pad these days I scratch my head as to how I managed to play the game.

I didn't know tomb raider was exlcusive..?
A magazine getting exclusive coverage of a game does not mean the game is exclusive to a platform. Just that other magazines have to wait before they can run (p)reviews on it.

I broke out the N64 a few weeks ago to test that theory. It wasn't as bad as you may think, but it does take a little getting used to.

Of course it seems very dated now . . . but you gotta view it in comparison to the other games of the time.

A remake would cure all the issues that make it seem lame today.

They could use the same music though.

I'm pretty sure Goldeneye had a dual-analog mode where you used 2 N64 controllers. It'd be pretty easy to map that control scheme to a dual-analog pad.

hmm, i remember being absolutely floored when i first so Alan Wake screens.. now it looks so, normal ?

I think screenshot is from the first batch of media that Remedy released, however the last screenies made it look like they had improved on the engine a lot.

I think shows off the updated Alan model, but you'd have to see the teaser to get an idea of the lighting engine in action;

It's definitely not a new SSX (why would EA make it an exclusive? I mean come on!), I'm guessing it's Goldeneye.

Now here's the question: if it IS a remake of Goldeneye, would you want dual analog controls, or old school single analog controls?

Goldeneye was the first game I played with dual analogue sticks. Using two controllers made it a lot easier to finish the last levels at the hardest difficulty.

How the hell can it be Goldeneye? Nintendo owns the rights to the game, the design and the coding, and Activision owns the rights to the Bond license.
