XboxEvent.com just registered by the same company that did Xbox's E3 presentations

They must not have the box finalized yet. That might point to an April announcement if they haven't done the thermal cooling yet.

Or maybe they'll just pull a Sony and show the features without the actual console itself.

The first posting is definitely Kinect 2. Like...seriously. I bet design for it is essentially done and ready to be shown off by now.

I don't doubt it. They have a number of postings for kinect manufacturing-related jobs:

What is that job listing have anything to do with internet connection required
Sony have their own cloud service now,i can't see MS won't follow since they have azure

Well, I know that cloud support can mean anything, but cloud services needs internet connection, the "always online" possibility is there.

Losing interest in what? It's not like the ps4 is on sale.

Some people mistakenly believe that you can win a sales battle months before you actually have something to sell. Some people didn't pay attention to what happened to the 3DS, Vita, PS3, and Wii U. Announcing early means nothing since the general public doesn't tend to give a crap about stuff that they can't yet buy.

A game required internet doesn't mean console will,2 different things

When I talked about consoles?

There is a thread about it, but it is not a confirmation. EDIT: maybe not "online mandatory" but online will play a big role in the game:

Hyper-connectivity is obviously a core subject in our game. It is everywhere, from the innovative tool you use in the game to our entire online experience. The entire game structure is based on the idea that everyone is watching whether it’s in single player, multiplayer or everything in between. It is within the game and also outside of it…

Halo 4 uses Azure for multiplayer hosting, I'm guessing the same goes for the Halo Waypoint service.

fingers crossed for dedicated server support for all XBOX games.
P2P for silver members, dedicated servers for gold members

Azure is great cloud platform and one big competitive advantage. They could easily provide it to publishers.

Or at least to exclusive games
One can dream :)

I hope P2P for all (and servers as a possibility), I don't want the "shutting down servers" issue, as EA games.

You can already code against it. You just have to pay for it. Maybe they could do it for free.

Something like that. I meant that should provide it as standard xbl service/api just like matchmaking.
Expenses could be paid from developers (license fee) or customers (gold). In MS case probably both ;)
Azure (or any cloud platform like Amazon) is ideal for this with its elasticity and automatic provisioning of servers. It can automaticaly scale with demand for each game. Since most big MP games are not released at the same time and they peak for short time, they could just move server resources to the new game.

or they could use it for always-on drm checks....i hope SimCity servers are not hosted on Azure ;)

Doesn't look at all an Xbox/Entertainment Division event.

Is there any way in hell MS waits for E3?

If they do an event before E3 (which I think they will), what TV station do you think they'll use? MTV again? Spike?

I can't see them wasting money on that nonsense again. Pre-launch announcement events and hype bear no correlation with the success of a console. They'd be better saving that money and spending it on marketing the console post-release, rather than 6 months in advance.

Or, doing an Apple and saving it until a couple of weeks before - maybe announce Durango in November? :)

They will do their own thing, as they did with WP8 and Surface.
I just hope it's better...

I think the MTV event was pretty smart at the time, because they made the console look "cool" to the late teens to mid twenties crowd. Everyone tries to do it now, but that was some of the best marketing and advertising since the "Genesis Does" days.

It's probably nothing but the company (42Entertainment) who did the ilovebees (Halo2) and Hex168 (Xbox360) ARGs registered only a few domains this year all including "history hackers":
www.historyhackers.com
www.history-hackers.com
www.historyhacker.org
.
.
.
All these domains are still parked at GoDaddy though.

As I said - it's probably nothing because they also do ARGs and viral marketing for other companies but I thought it's at least noteworthy.

I LOVE BEES was amazing...

Doesn't really belong here, but I figured you all would get a laugh. Over on the Halo Waypoint forums, a kid believe he's "Xboxdamus" (Xbox Nostradamus, yeah) and for months he's been making crazy ass "predictions" of what Microsoft will do. Here's his latest about what the Xbox will be called, the release date, price, and some features.

I have been thinking that the next Xbox will be called the Xbox 360 2 or what the masses might call it the Xbox 360 Squared.

I think that it's start up screen will be a cube that has the current Xbox X in the center of the cube, and it spin's 360 degrees (no pun intended), and then a 2 appears in the top right corner above the cube.

I think it will have a UI similar to Windows 8 (Sadly), and that it will require the use of Kinect 2 or what the masses might call it the Kinect Squared. Users can speak or use hand gestures to controller the new UI.

The Xbox 360 2 will be slightly more powerful then the PlayStation 4.

Xbox Live will be about the same, with added additions such as integrated Skype and Internet Explorer.

It will have a upgraded Xbox 360 controller that has a built in screen the size of the Nintendo 3DS's top screen, it won't have 3D though.

It'll have 5 USB 3.0 ports.

It'll use Blu Ray for it's games and media.

It'll launch at $399.99, and then in December a holiday bundle will be announced that includes Halo 2 Anniversary (Halo 2 Anniversary will use the Halo 4 engine, and will have cross play with Halo 4, like Halo Reach had with Halo CE Anniversary) and GTA 5. The holiday bundle will retail for $449.99.

Also Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 will launch on November 19th.

Sincerely Xboxdamus

ps Will this prophecy come true ?

When the event is ready it'll clearly be an Xbox event folks. Microsoft does a lot of random events.

Yeah, I don't know why people think it will somehow be secretive. They'll give everyone plenty of time to get hyped, and they'll promote the shit out of it being streamed live on their XBL App.

I think people are itching to see what Microsoft has to say because it's all so unknown. That's why everyone was so excited for Sony's event.

I mean we're all excited for the future, and I know the PS4 and Nextbox are both going to be fantastic devices, but the unknown can always capture the imagination and attention.

Nothing big really but I noticed that http://www.xboxevent.com now directs you to a Bing search site instead of just saying that there is no connection. First it displayed a GoDaddy Network Solutions "under construction" site (with a bunch of links and the image of that woman with a backpack). Then the site went completely offline for some weeks, but today it seems there's some "activity" at least.

As I wrote it's nothing big but I thought it should be mentioned. It would be kinda strange if they haven't at least announced the event come GDC (March 25-29), so maybe a theme site or something is being prepared (like the one Sony had for PlayStation Meeting).

Definitely is a mild teaser. All of the search results talk about the announcement of the next Xbox, so they know what they're doing.
