Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Hype countdown

Myself, I played the original Xenoblade Chronicles in emulation which was great.
Now I bought the DE for Switch but never touched it.
Is there anything new there or is it more or less the same game with improved graphics?

Not only has improved graphics but also lot of QoL, especially the way you track quests It also has extra chapter called Future Connect.

You both could work together to make the OT???
I was wondering about it so I looked and there is a guy in the official thread of making official threads, Komatsu Komatsu who is either willing to do it or wants to do it. If he wants to do it, it's his, otherwise I'm sure I can make one that will be decent for my first try.
I think I'm almost done with Xenoblade Chronicles DE. Do I really need to play 2? I'm more hyped for 3 and they're the same price.
You don't really need to play 2. But...Your hype betrays you. While XCX is my favourite, XC2 is objectively their biggest, grandest, most bang-for-buck complete game. I had the best possible experience because I played it years later with all of the added content like a bunch of awesome extra playable characters, challenge modes with rewards and a playable prequel story all present, as well as patches that improved performance and balance released. The best way to experience XC3 would be firstly, with the context of having played XC1, XCX and XC2 so you can see how they connect to XC3 as you play, and also with all the extra content that they will be releasing over the next year or so already out and packed in to complete the experience.

So if you could somehow transfer your hype from XC3 to XC2 and play that while waiting for the extra content for XC3 to get released, that would be the optimal experience. But that's not really how hype works is it. I'm super hype right now and I won't be able to resist jumping into XC3 day 1, even though it would certainly be a better experience if I could somehow wait.
No boobs?
I'm...I'm sorry. Would that it were not so.

Imo the graphics are not that improved because of the severe dynamic resolution. That is to say it looks great in cutscenes or when standing still but the resolution drops and gets very blurry whenever the action on screen picks up. I'm sure XCDE could have had no dynamic resolution or more likely subtle dynamic resolution, if nintendo had committed the resources to make it so. I'm not so sure about XC2 since it has so many insane things happening at once with all the characters and blades and specials moves and what have you, maybe the switch really couldn't have pulled off that much crazy action without a really big resolution drop. But people like to point out that Monoliftsoft had to commit resources to helping nintendo with BotW and they know the switch much better now as well, so maybe XC3 won't have similar problems. But I'm expecting it to have bad dynamic resolution since you can have 7 party members on screen at all times doing fusion transformations shooting anime lazer beams and other crazy stuff.

Whining about the graphics aside, I still think Definitive Edition is the best version of Xenoblade Chronicles, because of other improvements like the HUD.

The HUD is excellent now and a huge help when playing, check out this video for example. Enemies that reflect spike damage back at you clearly show it with a big warning graphic on their life bar, so you know when you need spike defense gear or some other way to deal with it. It also makes really clear what debuffs and buffs are active. This high level boss in the video gets hit with a max chain multiplier poison attack at 0:57 and takes massive damage over time that melts his health. You can see the poison clearly above his bar at the same time as any other buffs and debuffs, he goes into rampage mode at 1:14 and has a lot of buffs activate but the multiplied poison over time is too insane. The game also makes it much clearer how long topple and daze are in effect so it's super useful when planning your moves.

The menu screens are better too and there's extra content like challenge modes and outfits and stuff. And there's also future connected I guess but I'm not a huge fan of FC.

So there's another angle in play here, and that's my wife. She's seen the XC3 trailers and is excited for me to play it. However, I can already tell you the second Pyra comes on screen in XC2, I would end up having the same conversation that I had about Sharla in XC1, which went something like:
"Why are her boobs so big?"
"Because that's how the character designer made them, I have no control over that."
"...Is that what you like?"
"Me? Hell no. I hate beautiful women with immaculate heaving breasts and a fat ass that could suffocate you if it sat on your face. Gross!" *Removes her from my party*

There is kind of a way you could approach this that might work. Fairly early into the game, maybe 15 hours or so (it's a big game) you get access to challenge arena and one of the early rewards you can get there is the ability to permanently "disguise" Pyra so she's less fiery stripper angel and more of a modest cat-ear hoodie girl. It's a really good outfit and she can wear this in all battles and cutscenes once you unlock it. Maybe you could play the first part of the game when the wife's away to unlock the costume and have Pyra wear it afterwards. There's another girl later called Mythra who also has a modest costume option too.

I still want my boobies man

I've reached chapter 9 in Xenoblade 2 and I think I'm on track to finishing the game before 3 releases. And holy shit what a turn of events.

It's all-out war!! I love, LOVE that the story has delivered this big set piece of the same epicness as the battle against Egil in Xeno 1. It's exactly what the late-game plot needs. Amalthus, you sick bastard. Controlling not just blades but titans as well and using them as weapons while putting all their inhabitants at risk? Now he's a full-fledged villain. He even displays a giant hologram of him a la Emperor Neo in Nadia The Secret of Blue Water.
Mikhail has become super based?! Turning the ship into a mecha-titan and fighting Indol head-on? Wow I'm rooting for him now, although it's obvious he's going to die. Love the reveal that he's a blade-eater, it adds a lot to his character.
I need to unlock Poppi's third form...

My only dilemma now is whether I get Xenoblade 3 on physical or digital... digital is cheaper overall (no delivery and customs fees) and allows me to start the game from day 1, but I really want to own the jacket and game card... sadly there's no store where I live that will bring the game at launch.

Man Poppi turned out to be one of my faves in XBC2. Unlocking forms and her abilities was a neat surprise and had fun gameplay elements as well. The minigame was cool too, fitting the theme well. I wonder what neat surprises the new game will have...

Can't wait for July 29th, the waits proving more difficult than I thought.

I'm getting a lot of good advice not to power through all 4 Xenoblade Chronicles games ( 1, X, 2, Torna) over the next 4 weeks in order to prepare for Xenoblade 3, and I just want to say that I'm kinda sad part 3 will somehow been connecting some or all of these stories because I wanted to experience the game on day one along with everybody else. But alas, for the sake of my sanity and the ability to properly appreciate each entry, I will avoid rushing through these games.

Games like Skyrim and Elden Ring are a lot of fun to experience when they're entirely new to the whole gaming community (with Youtube vids, memes, and conversation) and I wanted to do the same here, bjt since I'm brand new to the series as a whole I didn't even understand what type of game this was when I first set out to play Nintendo's latest and great, in Xexo3.
Not to be a dick, but why didn't you play them earlier than a month before this game? What about this game grabs you that the others didn't?

I'm pretty hyped for this game, but I want to go in 100% blind (outside of seeing the initial reveal trailer) so I'm not reading any of ya'll's anything.

But I'll be there, day one assuming Amazon gives me actual release day delivery

Made the mistake of starting Ys IX which I'll never finish before the new Xenoblade is out... boy does that game look rought tho. I hope the Xeno devs can get a bit more out of the Switch.

A Cinematic Fan Film Tour of Sylvalum

That video in particular is really good but since Sylvalum is my favourite area ever across all the Xenoblades, here is some other stuff too.

Sylvalum Night Theme Piano Version

Here's a random Let's Play character affinity quest that mostly takes place in Sylvalum

Solo vs a giant boss

One-Shotting a superboss in an overpimped mech

The colony seems to be ranked from the castle, which is the center of the nation. The lowest rank is called "Tsuchikure", the highest rank is called "Ogon", and the next rank is called "Shirogane"!

There are two patterns of connecting arts combos. One is "break" that destroys the enemy → "down" that makes the enemy fall → "stun" that stuns the enemy → powerful blow "burst". If you connect to the burst, the angry enemies will calm down and items will drop!

I will also introduce another way to connect combos. "Break" that destroys the enemy and "Down" that can roll the enemy are the same, but after that, "Rising" that launches the enemy → "Smash" that hits the enemy will cause great damage. I want you to find your favorite combo, smash and burst!

Two patterns of combo routes can also be instructed in the strategy. If you indicate which is better, the damage-oriented "smash combo" or the additional effect-oriented "burst combo", your friends will decide the arts in a timely manner. It feels great to collaborate with friends!

Ys IX on the Switch is an absolutely shameful port and I usually don't care for poor Switch performance. It's a great action RPG though so it's worth playing it on PC or PS4.

That's actually quite an improvement compared to previous games, pretty nice.

In Xenoblade 3 they are bring best mechanics from XC1 and XC2 and even adding some mechanics from XCX.

This game is basically everything Monolith learned from pervious games.

I'm on media blackout for this now myself(haven't watched the direct either) but just wanted to add to the thread and say that this is the most hyped I've been for any game for a long time.

MonolithSoft are probably my favourite JRPG dev these days. No other dev has sold me on as many new consoles with their games lol.

I bought a Wii for Xenoblade Chronicles.
I bought a Wii U for Xenoblade Chronicles X.
And I bought a Switch just for Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

I have a week booked off work for launch and will just soak this up once I have it. Cannot wait!

Huh, so smash doesn't give items, only big damage. Item is only from burst.

hows the hentai potential for this one?
Still no clue, but...
