Oh wow, you really do join a new squad every time you boot up the game. I thought it was more like a guild.

As a random note, going to strive to post on FrontierNav more.

Are the thunderstorms in Oblivia supposed to just slowly kill you?

I've seen 3 now while I'm just exploring and I either have to warp someone else or wait until it kills me, very annoying.

The cool thing about them is you can take actual shelter from them. Get inside any building or cave or under an outcropping. That's the intent I think, that you wait for the storm to pass in a safe place.

I'm actually in disbelief at how poorly this fetch quest stuff was implemented. If you've saved your game and don't have access to the Internet then you are in for a world of boredom you can't escape until you finish the quest. With the lack of helpful information given in game it could take hours or you could even find yourself stuck at that part for a very long time. Are there a lot of quests like this or is this one of the few like this?

Ok seriously wtf? Am I missing something or is this game really poorly designed? I'm doing the affinity mission called the repair job where I have to go on a fetch quest for 3 different items. The game doesn't specify the exact location of these items. Do they really expect you to search the entire maps listed for hours for those items? You can't even cancel the mission if you don't want to go through that. Is this really how the game is designed or am I missing something?

*sigh*
I think at some point I'm going to write a quick starter guide because many beginingers get stuck and frustrated with that affinity quest while seriously I had already the most of the items...

First don't panic because NO, you're not stuck rookie.
When an NPC give a quest to gather items it will usually tell you where you can get them, just talk to him again.

Second, you can still explore the game, you just can't take any other quests.
So go plant some probes, it will help you for your affinity quest (to get white cosmetic).
Again, don't panic, the item that you've to gather through the probes will appear between 30 mins or 1 hour.

Here's the location (from Prima guide) of other items of the quest :

- Gather three L-002 power cables in Primordia’s Starfall Basin.
The good news is that the radar tells you the areas where you gather these parts in nearby treasure chests. The bad news is that there are some heavy-hitting Ganglion Skells over there (around~level 50!). Stay clear of the Skells as you look for the power cables.

Second part of the quest

- Gather tubes from Puges
https://fanofxenobladex.wordpress.c...hronicle-x-lin-affinity-quest-the-repair-job/

I'm sorry if I'm not 100% accurate because it hs been a while that I did that quest.

Stop jumping to conclusion, if you had explored a bit before accepting a quest you will have less problem.
Also only the Blade gathering quests are frustrating because they're the only one where you've no indication but at the same timethose Blade quests are not important to do except for the social quest (that actually lead to normal quest)

In your case, you just didn't talked again to the npc to get some details.
Also if you're only at the first part, the prima guide say that item quest gather area is actually shown on your map.

Last advice : READ THE MANUAL
That game won't hold your hand.

Edit : that game do have flaws, but there're some workaround and we're here to to give them to you.
But whining while asking for help won't help anyone.

It's easy enough to look on the Internet to find the material locations. But the point is why should you have to use a guide to avoid wasting hours on a tedious fetch quest? What rubbish game design. Are there alot of other missions like this?

To be honest the quest requirement is straight forward. They explain Frontier Nav can be used to gather item. They mention which enemies drop the item, the "puges" (which probably is the main issue for most people, you need to break both arms to get the drop, but you can just use tickets to make your life easier). And they tell you to go to Oblivia to get the cruise deflector AiR, which is a common collectible.

For this game, people need to read the manual.

There are sometimes hints as to where you can find stuff if you talk to the right people. But yeah it's old school on that aspect.

Yes, there are hints for these missions which people may overlook. I like this design, but I totally understand that there are people who miss these hints or go straight off to the mission without fully explore NLA. This design adds immersion and encourage people to explore, while creating disturbances and frustrations to many players.

Btw, I have just finished Chapter 5. I sit there and think about the impact of THAT reveal to the story... Damn, some of my questions to the story and settings are answered with many new questions popping up. Very good plot twist.

I was in the exact same boat until I bought this game. Now, the WII U isn't being sold unless the NX can play WII U games (whenever that comes out).

Yeah you should get it, it's really good.

Ok, sounds like a must buy.

The game's a bit of an acquired taste I feel. Look at some gameplay vids and whatnot first before you decide. It's a really deep game that may take some significant time before it really starts getting to you. Don't go in expecting it to be like the original Xenoblade, I'll say that much. I still love it though, but I've seen plenty complaints which are understandable.

Playing Fallout 4 at the moment. And want something similar to it. Something like a huge singleplayer mmo with tons of quests and a nice world to discover. I have no Idea why I asked my question, xenoblade seems to be a game that gives me everything I want.

I didn't think it could kill you? Don't you just get down to 1 HP?

It killed me the first time I went to Oblivia...

The cool thing about them is you can take actual shelter from them. Get inside any building or cave or under an outcropping. That's the intent I think, that you wait for the storm to pass in a safe place.

Its a neat idea, but after the third thunderstorm its pretty boring just sitting waiting for it to go away.

I've spent maybe 2 hours in Oblivia, maybe I'm just unlucky.

In addition to everything else said, yeah, that's how it's designed. If you accept an affinity quest, you unfortunately have to finish it if you want to continue with the story.

Fear not, though, that's the one quest most people tend to get stuck at for a while. Rest of the quests aren't nearly as time-consuming.

In my personal opinion (and I have played a bit of fallout 4), I like it much better than fallout 4. I find that everything from the map, the UI, getting new gear, etc is so much easier and better in XCX than Fallout 4. Also, IMO, it scratches that MMO itch you may have as there is so much to do and you don't have to rush to get everything done and you can just enjoy the game either by yourself or with a group.

EDIT: If there is one negative to me, that is the font size in the game. Since I can't see very well in one eye, the font can be really small to read.

There's actually a female blade in the skell hangar below the main Blade compound (close to doug) who will tell you the exact locations of rare collectibles.

Of course you can't ask for a specific item but she'll say what info she hears.

You have to complete that early sidequest with two Blade guys (one is her) just outside of NLA who want you to go to Sickle Rock to look for their teammate. When you finish all it she and her team hang out in that location.

You could also stop whining since the game gives you info on where to find all that stuff, and you can even buy the energy tubes with tickets.

I did this quest and the Frontier Nav stuff and the Oblivia stuff is pretty straight forward. The puge tjing however is really really silly in that you have to break both arms. The fact that there is only 3 in that area aready is an issue but I was also overleveled so.actually breaking both arms before I killed the monster was way more difficult due to my party members. A lot of these quests that have drops that require broken parts should be more explicit that that is the case. It literally does no harm to say "you'll need to break both arms"

I don't even know what tickets are. I have been reading the manual a lot too :/

I don't mind the design on the game if they want you to goout and explore. Some of the stuff will becone second nature after a while. But it really has an issue with introductions. That mssion is one of the first affinity missions. Nothing of value is lost of being more to the point.

Well sure, if that's what you're looking for, then yeah. It's kind of a no brainer. It'll keep you busy for possibly hundreds of hours depending on how far you're willing to go.

Ha, I have the exact same problem actually. My right eye aint up to snuff, especially on the gamepad I feel like some sort of granddad that has to almost put his face onto the thing to read the text.

I don't know exactly how you get those tickets but you can use them at your house at the Squad panel to buy some loot that actually drop from only an ennemy.
Depending of the item, it can be quite expensive in ticket though.

I agree that some quests could be more explicit but the tone he took wasn't friendly.
We're here to help but if beginnners start to be agressive, it will be difficult to help them since we have to read their anger to understand what and where they've a problem.

Like for example, I don't even know at what part the guy is stuck and what item he is actually searching since Lin quest in 2 part since he posts was about just ranting :(
How can we help efficiently beginners that way ?

So let's try to make everyone life easier while asking for help don't hide it under frustration and anger, please.

The frontiernav part is the least straightforward considering you can apparently get the item from only 3 specific nodes in the game, if you happen to not put mining probes on those spots then you're screwed.

Also I don't think you NEED to break both arms, it just greatly increases the chance of a drop. I didn't do anything specific to get the drops, just hung out for a while and fought dudes.

This may be helpful for people that don't have the mechanical skill level 5 yet, like me. lol

7NPAMJE.jpg

It produces a little over 101K of miranium storage, enough for Prog Ares. I was about to start doing the collectopedia, when I noticed that I had already finished Primordia and I got the G2 booster ( as seen in SparksterMeta0's post a few posts above), making this possible. Not sure if it's easier than the one that got posted before, as this one uses more Boost probes if I'm not mistaken, but as I said, it doesn't require mechanical skill level 5 and it needs one less Storage probe.

Hopefully it will be helpful to others too. Anyway, Prog Ares, here I come. :D

It's small and it's incredibly low resolution, it's like the developers could not separate UI and rendering resolution from each other so the text is 720p too.

Personally, that's my only flaw with the game.

People are getting really defensive about the fetch quests, but nah, they're bullshit. A lot of them don't tell you shit about where to find the items and it is absolutely insane that the game would lock you out of story or affinity quests while doing fetch bullshit.

All that said, I love the game. My GOTY.

Honestly people, what are you doing? The HP doesn't go down all that fast, you can fight some weak enemies to recover HP, you can take shelter from time to time to recover HP, if you really get into trouble you can just fast travel away from Oblivia, how is it even possible to let yourself get killed by the storm?

If you're really worried btw there's an augment that makes you immune to the storm.

The quests really should say "collect 5 grongles from gooblexes by breaking their tails" or whatever.

Or "collect 6 dingleberries in the northern sea areas of Promordia."

That's what I'm wondering. It does 50 damage/tick to my party and I noticed it and proceeded to go into a cave. Why the hell would you just stand around if you're getting damaged? lol

Actually going back to her she only repeated the same two collectibles but said if she heard more she would say.

I haven't started chapter 4 yet so I am early.

Without her though I wouldn't have completed a mission since the item seems located to one weird cave lake.

I don't think there are many who straight up defend them

I think the picture is a spoiler, too.

In the same way a pic of a moogle in a Final Fantasy game would be a spoiler?

Did not know that about the frontier nav. I assumed it was simply a common drop amoing all the nodes in the surrounding area. I accepted this quest well after the required level because I did not was to deal with being potentially stuck.

I had one energy tube from before hand so I only needed one. I dont think I got my second one until I managed to break both arms. Who knows. Its still a poorly designed quest either way. I hear that is he only really shitty one though.

By the way, you can take other quests that are not affinity or story mission when you already started an affinity mission.
So again, you're not stuck rookies.

What´s a good way to find good weapons? In the beginning the indigens were dropping cool stuff, but now they just drop useless equipment and the shops aren´t selling anything really good.

The message system seems weird anyway. Does it always show squad messages in real time? If so, some guy was really upset yesterday, kept regularly getting messages that just said "you guys suck" presumably because nobody was doing the squad mission. This wasn't the miiverse broadcast to everyone thing, it looked like it was the 32 person "local" chat, but the same message kept coming up so I wondered if the game was treating it like the repeating global messages.
I got the same message, we must´ve been in the same squad! I think messages just repeat over every certain time as I always get many copies of the same message over a play session.

So I keep reading that you can tap on the different segments on the touchpad to get some info on what you need to do to clear that segment of the map but it doesn't work for me. Is there anything you need to do before the information becomes available?

Don't serve me that crap, I don't like the way affinity quests work either, but you basically nerd raged 5 times in a row without acknowledging people responding to you.
Yes there is information especially on that particular quest. And it's not hard or time consuming, unless you haven't been probing stuff, otherwise you probably already have the mineral. It's okay.
There are worse examples in the game.

It is pretty terrible. Here is a world 4x the size of TW3 and FO4. Now go find a random thing with minimal information. The flavor text for items should at least have the same information as that spreadsheet in the OP. FrontierNav seems like a real POS if it can't even keep a database of where you found something. Having to search the internet for every little item in this day and age seems ridiculous and I am not even asking for a big arrow pointing me in the right direction. Then there is the fact that certain items only drop from when you break certain appendages. Yet they give you little control over selecting said appendages. I still like the game but these annoyances and the battle AI for your squad are really dragging the game down for me.

No, it's a spoiler because
the glasses are obtained in a quest where you have to go find them. They belong to Tatsu's father. He is worked up about it and it turns out they are a pair of goofy looking frames. It's a funny moment of the game that could be ruined by seeing this picture now.

Randomly run past someone with a yellow bubble above their head that will give you that information. I am sure there is some method to unlocking these properly but I don't have any idea how or when.

You need info from npcs (assuming you're talking about the world map). You might have already seen those yellow bubbled npcs in town.

Finally got my Skell license, but have a couple of questions if anyone wants to help... first, is there ever a way to get a flying Skell of any kind? (Dunno how to reach some areas of the game without this) and can you level up Skells in any way?

Also, that fucking new LA theme song has been stuck in my head all week now and it's driving me mental. All I can think about all day is just "I can't see you, I can't hear you... 1, 2, 3, 4...".

Fucking love this game.

It depends of the information that the citzen will reveal to you (yellow icon).
Sometime it will let you've new infos and sometime just show a new icon on the segment.

My only advice is to keep in mind that in the futur you take the habit to break the different part of ennemies even outside of quest :)

You will eventually be able to get a flying skell after Chapter
9
. The skell itself doesn't level, the initial one you get is a special level 20 skell. There are additional skells you can buy at level 30 and level 50 with improved stats.

Completed chapter 6 and got my Skell license yesterday.
Dat feeling when you finally get to use it aaannnnnddd realize you cannot fly yet -_-

But still I really find it awesome to be able to customize everything on it with all those parts The game is definitely getting better and better (was already great from start)
