I can't find the source but I vaguely recall Iwata mentioning last year that Monolith Soft was aiming for no loading times between areas, compared to how Xenoblade had loading screens between its large maps.

On another note, I've been curious about Xenogears for a while now but this full reveal has really made me want to try it out soon. Should I give it a shot?

you can kinda see where they hid the loading
the sky and dino intro cutscenes are well placed into new areas

Try it out. One of the best RPGs ever. Deep and very philosophical story, solid battle gameplay, great cast of characters. Really great game.

Only if you can stomach the battle system. It's easy, but it is a slog most of the time, at least I think so. The music, story, and character art are great, although the 2nd disc is the most obvious rush-job in gaming. Town exploring and NPC interaction were classic Square. Despite its faults, I think it's worth a playthrough, but only if you have the time.

I guess the only thing I didn't like is that the game still has the 2d grass that moves with the camera to give an illusion of 3d. That should really be a last gen relic.

Well, the Wii U is technically "last gen" in terms of its hardware specs.

I think what he's saying is no-load sequence when going from one big map to the other, not counting the in-between cutscenes. Kinda like entering and exiting towns in Xenoblade, where there is no loading sequence, even the transition of music was smooth.

I was hoping for a little bit more character relationships/romance in this game but being able to customize and having both genders can't really expect Mass Effect levels of shipping here :/

but I welcome the customization over this. I liked how treehouse play white male first run and black female second run, everyone should be happy, seeing the lady run animation made Ubisoft jokes possible

I just bought Xenoblade 1

so if Nintendo Announces a HD remake, you are all welcome

Are you me? I just bought a copy yesterday!
Then I ripped it onto my PC and played it at a downsampled 1440p resolution :P.
World is massive!

Zelda U will be at most 1/4 the size of Xenocross
...what?

Remember, the 1st 5-7 hours or so are tutorial, if you can dig through that and get the 3rd party member, then the game really starts opening up. Enjoy playing.
...Whaaaaa????

The game/world is that massive and long? I only played 2 hours of it. I don't know if I should be excited or very scared lol.

It's pretty massive. The 1st map in itself will require a good number of hours just to explore everyrthing, plus avoiding nasty monsters lol.

Nothing to be scared of really. Once you get used to exploring you'll enjoy doing it the rest of the game.

I wonder if the 3 moons are the new locations? remember in Xenoblade what you always saw in the sky was pretty much where you ended up later

the more I think of it the more I think that is what the treehouse guy was hinting at

O_o

had to create a gif

also that big dino is only level 45 LMAO

you know in Xenoblade as long as you get within 10 levels off a monster you can pretty much beat it

can't wait to see the level 99+ dudes :D

With a doll and space ships at your arsenal, anything is possible right now.

that has to be it because that one moon is HUGE and beautiful at night like a focal point
they teased us so much on Bionis and we already seen space battles in the intro for the story including crashing on the planet

Nah, people were screaming "downgrade" after watching the E3 2014 trailer. Weird, cause the new trailer didn't show any environments at all unlike the previous trailers. The 2014 trailer instead showed the story and characters, which the old trailers didn't. They have nothing to compare it to, but yet the graphics are downgraded!

Don't forget that one guy who said X looked worse than Xenoblade running in Dolphin with hi-res texture pack.

Yeah, he's got nothing on that L80 guy in Bionis' Leg who aggros to your party on sight, around where you find Juju's crashed vehicle. Then again, I'm guessing the Primordial [Whatever] is more akin to Colony 9 than Bionis' Leg.

true, I am still going to grind like crazy even if death is not really punished

also happy for no fall damage love jump off high places. super hyped!

wish they would release more trailers and images now that E3 is over

Them monster hunter opening scene flashbacks.

Love that they do this, even in Xenoblade, just showing enemies chilling.

I really liked that about Xenoblade so far. Even at the beginning, the world feels so full of life.... especially a lot more than another particular, big-budget, huge open-world RPG that I love.

I'm not scared of the game itself, just how much it will consume my life.

I doubt the Dolphin guys will ever stop hyping how great they were able to make the game look

we would have had many more voices asking for an HD remake if this was not a thing

you are just starting? I envy you wish I had another 200 hours of playing in that world

Did we play the same game? Xenoblade remains the most artistically beautiful game I personally have ever played.

Seriously. Xenoblade is ANYTHING but "bland". It's one of the favorite looking games from an artistic perspective. Absolutely gorgeous areas.

Edit: I love how a random flying enemy is passing by in the scene.

Mother of god. That is SO beautiful. This game will suck so many hours away of my life just like Xenoblade did.

Eww,,,,,major downgrade. I'm disappointed.

Not sure if serious.

The epic scale of this game is the best part of it. Was Xenoblade anything like that?
I'm one of those filthy people that didn't play the first one... :(

Yep. Just not graphically impressive as this Wii U game. Though the draw distance is awesome in the Wii game.

I just wonder what kind of altitude we're gonna be able to get with these Dolls. I wanna fly up out of the atmosphere and nosedive into Neo Los Angeles.

I really wish they demoed more of the character creation. I'm so going to try and make a Shulk. :P

I hope there isn't any Citan/Jin lookalike in this game. 'Cuz it's gonna be really awkward when he meets my character and discovers he has a long lost twin.

After watching the second treehouse demo, I noticed that level scaling mechanics seemed to be more balanced this time around. When he attacks the level 45 dinosaur like creature, all of his attacks actually hit. In the first xenoblade, if you attacked enemies that were more than 5 levels higher, or were attacked by enemies more than 5 levels lower, nearly all the attacks would miss. One of my biggest problems with the original was how significantly easier the game became if you were a little over leveled since you basically became invulnerable.

How do people feel about some of the changes to gameplay mechanics?

-being able to target specific body parts and cut off appendages such as tails
-not being able to change time on the fly
-level restricted equipment
-no healing techs outside of the timed B button prompts that heal your team
-TP system

1.GREAT I love monster hunter because it gives me the opportunity of deciding how I want to approach. Cripple him of attacks or rush the highest dmg points? I imagine that one pig monster won't be able to use head charge when his crest breaks and those bosses won't be able to use tail stab or be off balance after charging/jumping. I love this.
2.Kind of bad, but they seem to have like a "capsule". Immersion? idk.
3.Bad, but it makes sense thinking about the whole "can actually hit level 45 monsters". Imagine if you could cheese some of the monsters like you could in Xenoblade with Melia's spear break insta-kill at level 27 to a lvl 90 monster and get a super OP set of weapons for the rest of the game. I believe it's a trade off between being able to really challenge oneself with these higher level enemies but not being able to cheese and break the rest of the game. Kind of like in MMO's, a level 200 player could just drop something for a level 1 guy to use and if it had no level restrictions? Game broken. This becomes increasingly important if they are going to implement online down the line so I see it as more of a necessary control at this point.
4. I imagine we'll get new ways to heal, just that the 2 characters shown have no real defensive arts.
5.So-so. This one's REALLY mixed for me. I like the idea of more resource management but if TP can only be restored during battle or via menus, it would force me to use menus that I don't want to constantly scroll through. Xenoblade's battle system might have been pretty simple, but had a sense of beauty to its simplicity.

We still don't have a lot of info about this game.

1. Sounds fun. No reason not to like it really.
2. Hmm, I liked how easy it was in Xenoblade, but I'm assuming they restricted it to ease up all the loading of assets.
3. Could be interesting, especially if it acts as an incentive to Level Up certain stats.
4. So-so, although I hear the best parties in Xenoblade 1 didn't rely on healing. Plus, as mentioned, it's possible the healing techs/methods just weren't shown.
5. Not enough shown/don't understand to comment : P
