Yakuza 0 |OT| Yes, you can start with this one!

If it seems that way it's because "smooth mode" is enabled, which was introduced in the Saturn version. It's also present in the 3DS release, developed by M2, who also converted the game for Yakuza 0. All smooth mode does is make the backgrounds run in 60fps, it does not change the game speed at all. If you compare the Yakuza 0 conversion with the arcade pcb you'll see they run at the same speed.

Thanks for that.

Must just be my hazy memory!

Still can't believe I used to play such a low fidelity game on a huge arcade machine screen with a hydraulic plastic Ferrari attached to it!

Flashing usually means you are hitting something with Super Armor, meaning they are in a circumstance where they can eat hits without being stunned even while they may be attacking. If you level up Kiryu's beast stance enough you will see him flash frequently as well.

A white flash indicates the person is under a "super armor" effect, meaning they can't be hit-stunned out of their attack for a few hits or possibly the entire animation. Both Majima and Kiryu can do this with certain attacks, usually in the Slugger or Beast styles.

A red flash indicates a retaliation attack was triggered, Kiryu can do this with the Brawler style by hitting square, triangle or circle after getting hit. If an enemy triggers it (Mr. Shakedown comes to mind), then something you did triggered it. Usually it's something like too many frontal attacks or too many attempts to hit through their guard.

Brilliant, thanks.

Wait... Marina... Emiri... Kokoa... Is there any female NPC that's not based on a gravure model?

Isn't gravure softcore? All the girls here are downright hardcore porn actresses. It *is* a bit weird to have them appear in substories so frequently. The previous games had a lot more regular and average looking women in their substories, while the porn actress cameos where limited to the hostess girls.

Wait, they're actually all in porn? Damn, I knew some were, but I said Gravure just to be safe (guess it's possible to do both, though).
To be honest I didn't even notice it until I saw some of the names on the cards matching up with random NPCs...

Caught a Great White shark. O_O

I don't think the waters of Tokyo are safe to swim in

I caught a friggin Coelacanth. I don't know what I'm supposed to do with this thing.

Actually I caught way more fish than I needed to max out the sushi guy, are these needed for anything other than that?

Whenever you finish one of their substories, you unlock that girl's video in the erotic video store.

whenever I'm in a story battle near a river I make sure to toss everybody over the side just because it's funnier when they are all lying around on the ground 3 seconds later. Also it seems to be a 1HKO regardless of how long an enemy's HP bar is.

That is one good thing about Kenzan and Ishin, people got messed the fuck up and were clearly dead. Until the fight ended and they were still there begging for mercy.

You're gonna love Yakuza 6.

You can even throw people from the top of a train station walkway onto a moving train and they'll just get transported to whereever the train is going.

I still don't get why I am collecting those business cards. And why they are only JAV-stars from today and not from the 80s.

Not that I protest against that. 😌

Yup, the entire game with a limit to how far you can go/what you can do. Should you buy the game then the limit just vanishes and you can continue from your savegame.

Fighting by the pier in 6 is hilarious. I managed to knock two people into the water with one throw. After the battle was over they were just floating, motionless (and face down) in the water. I'm sure they are ok though.

Most brutal heat move in 6 has to be the microwave finisher, but my favourite heat move (bar the train heat move you already mentioned) is probably the hammer counter heat move (I'll try and get a capture of it tonight, words don't do it justice).

For Yakuza 0, my favourite heat moves are the various counter heat moves on every style - especially the beast style counter heat move. Also, the hot plate heat move where you burn a dudes face off. Really brutal!

My favorite move so far is just the one in Beast style you get when you've got a grappled opponent and are surrounded. You just swing him around and take out everybody in slowmo. Also the umbrella one for Majima surprised the hell out of me because I didn't even know I had an umbrella equipped.

Embrace the mini games and sidequests. Good to have another yakuza member.

Definitely! Mentioned some of my fav sidequests originally but forgot to spoiler them so deleted them quickly haha. So far,
the fake Yanki punks, training up the dominatrix and being the stand-in producer on a gourmet food show
have been amazing.

Tales of Berseria debuted at #14. Yakuza being above that is pretty big (well, hopefully).

If I had to estimate, I'd say this means sales of around 5,000 to 10,000. Hopefully digital adds a couple more thousand copies but it's definitely a good start.

I do believe digital sales are around 20k to 25k so it should be about 360,000 sales so far in Japan. Hopefully it can break the 400,000 barrier at some point.

Does Famitsu's sales count other Asian territories? As I think I remember hearing it sold ok there as well (it sounded like Asia is picking up the slack from the drop in Japanese sales compared to past titles).

Is it worth it spending CP on Majima's business stuff? I got everything in that tree for Kiryu, but are the hostesses you get worth it?

On a separate note? Can you reload the Golden Rifle? I got 2 of them with Kiryu, and if you can they seem like a great way to take out Mr. Shakedown.

You can reload/repair weapons in Dragon and Tiger shops.

As for the hostesses, I bought half of them and finished that mini [more like MARKO] game yesterday no problem, so take from that what you will.

I never thought I'd see so many newcomers share tips, strategies, and just chat about, not only this game, but others in the series too. The release of Yakuza 0 really feels like a game that was made possible by the loyal fans of the series that have stuck with it since the early days, and boy does it feel good to see people taking this opportunity to jump on board and experience it all. I'm envious. These games are like nothing else on the market!

is yakuza kiwami going to include the english dub from the Ps2 version of the game?
No, just the Japanese re-recording. While this is a direct remake of the original game (even using the same animations and such - don't worry - it just highlights how good the originals were) there's also some new content/areas that weren't in the original, meaning no VA was recorded. Kiwami will be English subs only.

Nope, original japanese.

oh, damn. it's all the same dub though isn't it? why couldn't they include the original english too?

Was having a stressful time play RE7 because it just stressed me out being kinda scared the whole time in VR lol. Needed something to cleanse my pallet. Saw some reviews, saw all of you guys talking about it, bought it yesterday digitally. Just finished chapter one. At work now and cannot stop thinking about playing chapter 2. LOL. I'm all in.

I GUESS they could, but you'd have parts of the game that wouldn't be dubbed because new content was added to Kiwami. It'd be weird having some dubbed and some not. They're far more likely to just stick with the re-recorded audio from the Japanese release. Not to mention, the dub for the original game... not the best.

Mark Hamill though.

Mark Hamill though.

Yes, Mark Hammil. Everyone likes to talk about his performance because it's literally the only one worth noting. He's about the only halfway decent performance in the dub. The rest, by far and large, are pretty damn bad.

Though to be honest, I still get a good laugh out of it! XD
