Yakuza Ishin PS4 1080p Launch Trailer

I have the system notifications for video recording blocking turned on and this is the first game I've played to block cutscenes.

How does this work? PS4 always records the last 15 min of your sessions. Would those sessions be full of black bars while you're playing?

Lightbar also flashes red when enemies see you and start chasing you. It's a nice touch.
It looks really clean, and 60fps are very welcome.

60fps makes such a big difference. It really doesn't have much impact on the actual gameplay, but just running around the world while everything is moving silky smooth just makes it a much more enjoyable experience. I hope that they keep that framerate going forward with the series on the PS4.

Hmm... the full game seems to have the screenshot feature completely disabled. I've played for about three hours now and made it to the second chapter, but I haven't been able to take a single shot yet.

This makes me want to set someone on fire. I was hoping Sony would stand up against the outdated mindset of these dinosaur Japanese companies, but I forgot that SCEJ itself is king of the fucking retirement home.

Looks great! Hope they do the smart thing and release this in the West.

So all 93 people could buy it.

There needs to be a Kickstarter thing. Like, if enough people lock in their purchase, the game comes over. As it stands, the amount of US Yakuza fans could be described as minuscule.

Man this looks like such a nice world to roam around in. Love the vibrant colors, and the NPCs look natural, feel like a convincing part of the world, at least in screenshots.

It's both. It's convincing and "game-y". On the latter's point, I love how the series mixes both areas. It's involving but I still feel like I'm playing a video game.

Also, I streamed this game for a few minutes and I lost more than half my viewers when Kiyru's naked ass appeared on screen.

That was a terrible trailer, that song ruined it for me. Graphically, I'm not really impressed with what I'm seeing, but as long as the story and gameplay are top-notch, I'll be happy.

Wait what? I'm able to take pictures. Probably not allowed during cutscenes and shit.

Gameplay feels dated (from all yakuza game to date) tons of fetch quest and funky animation. But the world and the story always make up for that. Also, the combat system is really old school but always so satisfying, at least with fist. Never played Kenzan or Ishin so I don't know how it really plays with swords

So you can have both PSN accounts activated as primary at all times?

Yes exactly.

I was able to stream the demo briefly, mainly wanted to test out the feature. Pretty cool.

Went ahead and bought it, hope eventually I can follow along a guide and complete the game but I never had Kenzan so it's nice to have Ishin.

The share function is disabled in the main game. You can use it in the premium adventure mode (I don't know what that mode called in Ishin).

Is this supposed to be rural Japan or centuries ago?

Are you jocking ? You think rural japan still has people wandering in kimono carrying swords ? It's set in the Ishin period (hence the game called Ishin) or Restoration period, when the traditional japan (the shogun and samourai) disapeared in favor of western culture and industrialisation (something you can see in the Last Samurai with Tom Cruise) and it's around the year 1800

So why are they using the same characters? That's just lazy.

How would this work if I wanted to buy this... Can I have it linked to my psn ID with my normal trophies?

Can games on the Jpn psn store be bought with my credit card or do I have to get Jpn psn cards ?

Also, how would someone who doesn't know a lick of Japanese play this game? If the voice acting is presumably in Japanese, there is likely no English subtitles right?

They did the same in Kenzan, set in 1600. They use the same character because it's easier and because fan loved it in Kenzan. I think it's really fun to have the same character (and some who died in previous eps) coming back with different names and role in another period

What you mean they don't? I thought it would be just like China where everyone knows karate and eats dumplings with chopsticks

Easier without making a JPN PSN account would be to import the disc from Play Asia for example. But it wlll be expensive as japanese games are super expensive at launch plus importation taxes and fees. Game will be full japanese... dub and sub...

I'm french. I'm having frogs and cheese right now on baguette for breakfast, wearing my beret and looking at my fine wine collection and two girlfriends in my bed.

You need JPSN cards. They dont accept any CCs that were made outside of Japan. Also if you dont know how to read or understand Japanese I dont suggest buying the game. And yes there are no English subtitles. There rarely are cases where Japanese games will include English subtitles in them. Sure you can find examples but when put into comparison with the rest of the titles out there its a drop in the bucket.

Demo.

That's really odd. Did you double tap the button?

Def can't take shots in the full version. You actually get an error that you can't take a screenshot. Seems Sega also disabled streaking too cuz I can't do that either

Ok thanks

Add me to the list of people wanting a localized port for the west then!

Never played a yakuza game but I'm desperate for something on my ps4 that's not a fps

I still really do believe this title has the best chance to make it to the west due to various factors. So keep your fingers crossed!

I loved the world in Way of the Samurai but those games are not great, would love to play this so much. I think as a cross-gen game it looks fine. Footage always looks worse than in-game anyways.

Now that Sora No Kiseki 2nd is being localized, Yakuza 5/Ishin are my most wanted localizations. :(

How much did Yakuza 4 do outside of Japan? Man, I even bought Dead Souls to support the franchise. A kickstarter type thing might be a good idea, even if they do it themselves, have a portal for people to lock-in pre-orders, and if they get a certain amount, they will release it to pre-orders and then limited run in stores or some such. Hell, make it digital only for all I care, I just want them.

In the full game and not the demo? Any time I try to take a shot, I get a "cannot take a screenshot here." message.

Aside from that, I'm really enjoying the game. They FINALLY got rid of any kind of loading/transition screen for random encounters. Makes everything much smoother.

I just looked it up and apparently the screenshot feature is disabled for the entirety of the story campaign and only unlocks for the post-game content. That sucks.

Does this have the huge panoply of side activities like the other Yakuza titles?

Sega would be idiots not to give us a Western release.

I can take Snapshots and video from the Demo version, so it seems they're only disable on the Full game? That's odd. The only think i hate is the SEGA icon on each screenshot/video, but i can live with it. Also, no matter what, i keep loving the battle system; it's still damn fun. Was Kenzan the same?

Some Gifs i made from last night playthrough:

The battle system has received minor improvements with each game. This one is definitely different than Kenzan with the various forms you can switch between, but Kenzan had a fun battle system, too, for the time.
