I just managed to get this. Thank god I got super lucky and the ai kinda began failing(makes me wonder if they programmed it in to fail after x amount of tries or if the mistakes were due it making higher risk plays since I got lucky on the break shot and got instant 25 points) but when I beat it, it was way more manageable
----
And my heart just sank the request for karaoke part 2 is 950 points instead of just 900 my best at otometal is 910. x_X
Why do the yakuza devs do bullshit like this the last two requests are a complete joke compared to this. urgh
The Karaoke song was just down to timing for me. I just changed the timing on when I was pressing buttons to just a little earlier and I smashed the score required. Its still nowhere even close to how bad this was in the original Yakuza (get 20 home runs in a row... yeah, no). I was glad that they'd toned the difficulty on this bit and the climax challenges down, makes getting the plat way easier for me!
I wonder, when all is said and done, what the most BS requirement will be for the plat: Haruka's Requests, Climax Battles, or Ch. 9 on Legend? May have to take a break after I finish the 100% first run and come back to this BS!
I pretty much kicked his ass with the first two. The last one let me stay ahead of him the whole race until the end where I had to use my boost to outspeed his.
I'm having a difficult time trying to locate Majima and he is supposed to be hiding in a plain sight. I checked a guide, and it told me to find him in champion district, but I had no luck so far.

I'd probably say Haruka just because that bit took me the longest. Had no issues with chapter 9 (I assume that's the on rails section?), Climax Battles really aren't all that hard at all bar maybe a couple at the end. Haruka on the other hand had the gambling challenges, the karaoke (which in hindsight is at least a pushover compared to some of the crazy crap DJ Max has me doing now!) and the Pool challenge.
6 is hilariously easy. It has no 100% trophy, no climax battles and only one grindy trophy (100 wins in gang wars) which is just grinding a super easy mission over and over. Even the legend run is a pushover as you can just clear the game, load up a save before the final boss and switch up the difficulty for that one fight to get the trophy. Super easy stuff. Even Amon is easier than usual!
Man, this "Hannya-Man" isn't giving me much options other than square X3 since I'm limited to Dragon style.
Anything else is dodged, grabs are immediately thrown off or even countered.
Makes me think I'm trying this too soon.

Unfortunately that fight is terrible and a slog no matter what due to the restrictions. You can kinda make it less painful by getting all the damage upgrades, but honestly it won't make much of a difference.
Could have done a lot more, but this felt like a good time to just go to the final chapter and beat it. Not as good as 0, but still enjoyable. I probably would have played more if some of the Sub-Stories were better, because most of them felt pretty weak. Still a few great ones though. I'll probably come back to this every now and then, but I do want to beat some more games that I've gotten recently and in my backlog.

Sounds diabolical still Yakuza plats are truly tests of how much abuse you can take.
The worst part isn't even the requirement it's that they make it so painful to try again.
Like for karaoke you get 1 try before you have to exit the building and waste 15-20 sec loading and talking to try the song again.

My guess ch 9 legend. I'm scared xD.
Right now I don't got any other game so I'm giving stuff a try in between other stuff let's see how stubborn I can be.
Am I missing something or do I really need 500k for this card? It doesn't seem like a lot but I've been earning no money in this game. I'm only at 322k now because I sold some Italian items.
Just encountered Majima in the Champion District and because the streets are so narrow, the camera made his model disappear so it looked as if Kiryu was hallucinating it all.

Game Theory: The Majima Everywhere system is a representation of the torment and stress Majima's seemingly never ending presence produces in Kazuma. He's actually in a coma.

how in the heck do you get 4k+ chips in baccarat? I'm working on Haruka and her meter and I'm absolutely stuck on this. A strategy I found in Japanese said to always bet 1k on a tie and when I finally won I got 9k chips but Haruka didn't take it as me winning. :/
Edit:
did the same thing again and it triggered it. Odd.
I think I must be going crazy here because as much as I've enjoyed Yakuza 3,4,0 and even the original 1 on PS2 I'm finding this a real drag so far.
The first few hours are so slow to get going and so full of pointless busy work (don't even get me started on that ring quest at the start...) And the majima stuff seems so shoehorned in it's almost painful.
Also every time I open the menu it wants me to upgrade abilities. Has it ever considered I might be saving up for something?
I'm going to keep going though... I can't seriously say that Zero is on my list for GOTY contender and not give this more of a go but damn, it's really not grabbing me atm.
Just got to the end of chapter 3 and genuinely thought I was supposed to lose that fight at one point, the boss just kept grabbing me and then I'd struggle free, give him a few hits and then get grabbed again. 20 minutes of bordem and button mashing out of grabs later and apparently that was how that was supposed to go?
Sorry for the rant, but after how much I enjoyed Zero I just felt a vent was needed!
Finished the main story today. Also have 44/48 Dragon abilities, so mostly done with Majima too
(done with Komaki)
. Missing 16 (?) side-stories.
Zero is the only Yakuza game I'd played before this one.
I feel that Zero had better pacing and presentation. I also feel the characters had more "presence" so to speak. I did feel that Zero clearly crested before the final couple chapters and I was less disappointed with how things were tidied up in the finishing chapters here.
(I felt Zero started out more hard-boiled and ended too strongly romantic. Gangster melodrama can obviously use both, but the ending was too sappy and too "we're the good guys" for me.)
The drama was mostly left to the
Nishiki
flashbacks and I think the game could have used heavier story-telling throughout. The scheming for the empty lot and the twist that tied that into Tachibana and Majima were just a lot more fleshed out and emotionally delivered than the story of the 10 billion and Haruka, despite the material clearly being there. I just pretty much always wanted heavier delivery than I got.
Part of the issue is that it is quite clear I played the games in the wrong order--Zero was made in part to flesh out and enjoy the characters who are important in this game after the fact. I came into Kiwami as a sequel, not as a starting point.
I thought the
Reina traitor
storyline and
fake Mizuki murder
storylines were particularly limply delivered.
...
The game feels less insurmountable than Zero in terms of extra content. I'm not going to get through the minigame completion list still, but that's fine.
I've been pretty lucky with Majima everywhere so far (just one more ability tied to his randomized encounters as far as I can tell). I've also enjoyed it, even if it can be a bit much . I did do the real estate in Zero but it was much less fun and I didn't get too far into the cabaret career before I quit playing.
Beat it this morning with a final time of 28:17. Great as usual but 0 is still the better game. A lot of the callbacks to 0 really make me want to play it again lol
Moonfrog, you actually did good in playing them in that order. I mean, yes, it's better to play Yakuza 1 - 5 before 0 to really get all the love put into the title, but if you're having the PS4 releases as your starting point, it's better to start with 0 and see Kiwami as its sequel.
Kiwami has many callbacks to 0 after all, and admittedly the original Yakuza lacked a lot of development for characters that got a lot of exposure in 0 for the first time. For example,
Nishiki's downfall cutscenes weren't a thing in the original and you're still supposed to care about him betraying you despite just being some traitorous idiot you never heard of before. 0 made him a very likeable character and Kiwami later showed you what drove him to do what he did. Same applies to Reina, Dojima, Shimano and Kazama as well (Shinji too, kinda) since there's barely any context for you to care about them in Y1.
So yeah, as funny as it may sound, I'm guessing Kiwami is the first time many long time fans have ever cared about most stuff in the Y1 story, haha
It still feels quite weaker than 0 of course, but there's only so much they can fix from a 12 years old game being remade on a budget. And well, 0 is the absolute best at everything in the series, haha.

I bet I can guess your problem, as I had exactly the same problem myself. The game asks you to get 4K in chips to win the trust mission. However if you bet 1K chips and lose, you'll then need to get 5K chips to win etc. Its a really annoying catch as its never mentioned anywhere in the game and the gambling stuff is purely luck based. Poker for example you'll have a shit ton of bad rounds before getting an incredibly good hand. The best bet is to save before starting the objective, and then just reload if your first hand isn't a win. That's what got me through all the gambling objectives.

Been watching my husband play through Kiwami, but he forgot to heal up before bartender Majima and he lost (horribly). Is there any way to retry it now that we're already several hours further in the game or are we just permanently locked out of an upgrade?
