I'm a big fan of Firehouse Subs. The one in Tampa even carried a hot sauce rated at 400,000 Scovilles! That was the greatest hot sauce I ever had the pleasure to try.

The thing with Subway is that it's so ubiquitous and available nearly everywhere (well in Miami) that it's more convenient than Quizno's. Of course there's a ton of local chains here and this mom & pop locale beats the shit out of any sub that these chains offer.

my goal is to only spend less than $6.00 on food a day.

luckily I have quite a few "$1.00 OFF Footlong" and "Free chips 'n drink w/ Footlong" coupons for Subway (2 blocks from where I live), so I tried the "one meal a day" thing earlier this semester.

Also, there's "free chips 'n drink" every Tuesday at Quizno's (block from where I live).

Maybe it's cause I eat it less often, but I love Quizno's (I've only ever had the roasted chicken w/ bacon). I like Subway too though (this year have only had Tuna w/ tomatoe).

I have "$1.00 off" coupons for footlong sandwiches at New York Sub, a good place with somewhat different taste for the Tuna sandwiches but definitely good (haven't been there since last semester though).

I'm a big carbohydrate freak though, loving the footlongs for all the bread (I get the fiber-filled honey-oat and wheat breads). Going for the carbs is definitely the best way to keep full for the cheapest buck. I'm pretty skinny so I'm not worried about carbs, but even then, I do limit my eating for spending reasons...

If I had a fridge like last semester, I'd play it smart again and eat 1/2 the Tuna sandwich at Subway (inlcuding 2-3 fills of some drink), and then save the rest in the fridge for later in the day, basically giving me 2 meals for $5.50 (including tax after using coupon). Also, the dollar menu at McDonalds is great if you've got your own cheap soda or better yet, powdered Country Time lemonade or Kool-Aid...

Dunkin' Donuts > Krispy Kreme
But Tim Hortons > All.

Man, I spent one week down there in Boston and what did I miss the most? My freaking Tim Hortons.
