We are beyond the midway point afterall... this year has been pretty lacking for albums.

My pick:

Can't really choose at this point but probably:

Bjork's Medulla
Morrisey's You Are The Quarry
Fantomas' Delirium Cordia

As far as "lacking" goes this year is far better then last year in my opinion.

Just one?

Hrm...

Really great album. I doubt it'll be beaten for me.

I honestly think there have been a lot of great albums thus far. Some of them have been things that I don't think many people here would necessarily care about, though.

Just off the top of my head:

Bad Religion's "The Empire Strikes First"
The Vandals' "Hollywood Potato Chip"
David Smith's "Fastest Machine
Rilo Kiley's "More Adventurous"
Guided by Voices' "Half Smiles of the Decomposed"
The Gathering's "Sleepy Buildings Acoustic"
Threshold's "Subsurface"
Liars' "They Were Wrong, So We Drowned"
Dave McCormack's "The Truth About Love"
Sonic Youth's "Sonic Nurse"
Modest Mouse's "Good News"
Eagles of Death Metal's "Peace, Love, Death Metal"
Tea Party's "Seven Circles"
Isis's "Panopticon" (leaked, but yeah)
The Blood Brothers' "Crimes" (unmastered leak)
Iron & Wine's "Our Endless Numbered Days"
Say Anything's "...Is a Real Boy"
Xiu Xiu's "Fabulous Muscles" (GAF won me over)
Presidents of the United States' "Love Everybody" (Exxy wins)
Les Savy Fav's "Inches"
Air's "Talkie Walkie"
Elliot Smith's "From a Basement on a Hill"
ETC
ETC
ETC

I think any of those are a safe bet. I could probably triple that list if I had the time.

This year has been really lacking in good music. I'd have to say so far I'd pick this album:

Though, in two weeks, an album comes out that just may dethrone that one: Action Action - Don't Cut Your Fabric To This Year's Fashion.

my favorite album of 2004 so far is probably Sonic Youth's Sonic Nurse.

Other albums I have been enjoying greatly from this year:

Wilco - A Ghost is Born (initially I wasnt all that impressed, but for some reason a couple weeks ago out of the blue I got Hummingbird stuck in my head so I started listening to the album again and really enjoyed it.)
Dios - S/T
The Places - Call it Sleep (I think that was a 2004 release..)
TV On the Radio - Desperate Youth, Bloodthirsty Babes
Secret Machines - Now Here is Nowhere
Sufjan Stevens - Seven Swans
Riloy Kiley - More Adventurous (just bought it last week, really enjoying it)
PJ Harvey - Uh Huh Her

Probably some more I am missing. Its been a good year for music for me, a couple other cds I have been meaning to pick up (Iron & Wine), and a couple more I am really looking forward to (Interpol, Black Keys)

8bit

Knows the Score
Nouvelle Vague - Nouvelle Vague

Sexy covers of A Forest, Too Drunk To Fuck, Just Can't Get Enough etcetera.

Now you did it, now I have to do a top 10 for the first part of 2004:

1. United State of Electronica -- U.S.E.
2. The Killers -- Hot Fuss
3. Rilo Kiley -- More Adventurous
4. Elliot Smith -- From a Basement on a Hill
5. Sufjan Stevens -- Seven Swans
6. A.C. Newman -- The Slow Wonder
7. The Turn-Ons -- East
8. John Vanderslice -- Cellar Door
9. Rogue Wave -- Out of the Shadow
10. Franz Ferdinand -- Franz Ferdinand

Jeff Buckley - 10th Anniversary re-issue of Grace

Not only is it one of my favourite albums of all time, but having it released with other unreleased shit on another CD is grand in itself.

Eminem

goddamit, Griese!

yep. Saw 'em in Indy on Monday night. They were selling it early for $10(and I've listened to it 13 times all the way through since then). They were selling some sweet ass posters for $1 each too. One is a big, blown up version of OHPS's cover. Totally cool.

Dave was selling the stuff himself too. Talked to him for like 30 minutes while the second band played. Such a cool guy.

It's really, really good, but I like OHPS better. The song called "The God Awful Truth" may be the best song they've ever done though. You won't be disappointed. It's harder than OHPS.

LeBron loves his girlfriend. There is no other woman in the world he’d rather have. The problem is, Dwyane’s not a woman.
The Killers - Hot Fuss

The fact that I'm the only one to list McLusky is a freaking travesty.

I don't think people like it as much as their last album. It's alright, though. It's not as compulsively listenable as McLusky do Dallas.

Anway, I think everyone here knows my favorite of the year by this time.
