You're now a Single Issue Voter. What is it?

Does this mean that if I vote for this that it actually happens, or it is just that the same nothing happens?

if magic: climate change
in not: income inequality

Canada here.

-Electoral Reform to Proportional Representation
-Expanding our Healthcare with Dental and Optical coverage. Also Pharmacare.

murican here

military campaigns and expenditures - why are both so goddamn huge? not even huge, they're fucking grossly obese

coming in the rear

the federal reserve - this fiat currency is going to bite us in the ass, and when it does it won't be a simple peck and a small bit taken, it's going to take the whole thing off, both butt cheeks and all

Campaign Finance Reform.

It's like, the main obstacle preventing all other issues from being addressed.

Pretty much.

As long as corruption and plutocracy are not addressed, nobody will have the means necessary to work on any other issue, because elected politicians will just do what their donors tell them to do. This is the root issue that precedes all other issues. Economy, social issues, education, foreign policy, civil rights, environmental issues, all of that won't be properly addressed before the problem of corruption is not fixed.

Its close, but I gotta go with climate change. None of the other issues being solved is gonna matter long term if the planet becomes inhabitable for humans. Luckily we have the wonderful ability to solve more than one problem at once!

I think by far the two biggest issues plaguing our time are climate change and income inequality.

Both are fairly connected in that they are caused by corporate greed and have gone unregulated for too long.

I think it would have to be economic health and the promotion of socially responsible business practices.

I would think that could cover most.

But choosing a single issue is always tough.

Like I'm a registered democrat but the Democrats support for the MPAA and their push for a more regulated internet combined with data caps ultimately will hurt the nation.

Politicians may vote party lines now but a good leader will vote for what he views as best for his district/nation.

climate change. not just because I care about it specifically (which I obviously do) but it says a lot about a candidate to me if they are either in the pocket of big business or oil companies, or have zero understanding or respect for science. either way, that's not a candidate I want in charge of the country.

global warming is real. predictions scientists made are coming true all around us... and still so many politicians claim it isn't happening. I need a politician to be able to react to reality even if reality contradicts their ideology or religious beliefs.

Besides the right to marry, what else is there?

You can be fired for being gay or transgender in every state on that map that is white. You can also be fired for being transgender in the states that are lime green.

We need a federal ENDA law. I would argue that it is even more important than marriage equality.

just curious, but how does that compare to being fired for race or any other discriminatory factors?

Campaign finance reform/non-partisan redistricting.

No other issue would have as big an effect on improving the political climate and helping solve most other issues than this.

This or the environment, most likely.
Or education funding.

Race, Age, Sex, Nationality, and Religion are all protected classes under the Civil Rights act of 1964. Its against federal law to fire someone for any of those reasons. No such federal protections exist for sexual orientation or gender identity, however.

There's also the issue of California being the only state to outlaw gay and trans panic defenses and so, so, so much more.

Income inequality because my life has revolved around it. Being a poor child raised by a family that needed multiple jobs, welfare, and food stamps just to survive is something I wish on no other American child.

Campaign Finance Reform/Money in Politics without question. There's far too many special interest groups that beholders many of the presidential candidates we see today. Most of the problems we see today are being blocked by money. Fiberoptic internet, Crime, Climate Change, etc.

Enough funding for free high quality education for everyone, and i mean everyone
(even the immigrants). Let the people that want to do it, take their chances and not be in debt for the next 5~10 years because of a mistake.

ps: I'm from the Netherlands.

i guess i'm not really understanding why all of those things are included when you see stuff about State/local-level equality amendments.

Like, the one in Texas that got overturned recently listed all of those things in addition to gender. A State doesn't necessarily enforce federal law all of the time, so i think that's the point of asking.

American manufacturing hands down. If we start making things again how they should be made instead of just outsourcing them to places that can make it cheaper, everything will fall into place. NAFTA was brutal to this country.

I suppose I sorta am a single issue voter, in that if a candidate doesn't support Campaign Finance Reform, then I cannot vote for them, much less trust them.

Election Reform.

I hate to be dismissive but anything other then it is setting yourself up for a high probability of a less then ideal outcome for your particular cause....Unless your ideal is something the current corruption of the system is benefitting form.

Election reform encompasses things like campaign finance, gerrymandering and voting laws. Each of those are crucial in terms of why we have such a polarized, ineffective, skewed system that is failing to live up to its ideals of effective representative governance.

Terrorism.

If you want to spy on everyone, invade countries, restrict travel, detail people, etc. I'm voting for the other guy.

Was thinking of this too. We Dutchies would profit more than we think from that.
