As spotted by FlatpanelsHD reader Aha, the YouTube app has now also been updated to support HDR (High Dynamic Range), specifically HDR10 video in the VP9-2 codec (see photo). On PlayStation 5, HDR is supported for YouTube videos in up to 4K 60fps.

It was on PS4 YouTube App… I believe it was added in 2019.

But the PS5 App lacked that feature.

If you own an LG, Sony, Samsung, Panasonic or other big brand TV its best to use the TV internal apps for best image quality and HDR usually. Especially on Sony and LG.
