I honestly think he's a bot communicating via Google translate. A human couldn't survive enough strokes to produce that continuous stream of "wtf did I just try to read" garbage.
You can't fix stupidI've spent $1,500 on supporting this launch and I feel fantastic about it!
You can't fix stupid
I mean yea of course. It's your cash and I'm sure you worked hard for it.Yeah, I have the money and chose to spend it. I have no regrets.
Yes, there is nothing wrong with offering an improved revision. What pisses me off a tad is to almost see potential being intentionally held back in a very apparent fashion as it risks making selling a revision model more difficult…the Oled revision with all of these HDR games is going to be the definitive model.
Everyone else has said it's a great LCD panel but the issue with all edge lit LCDs is that they don't offer true HDR (regardless of nits you need local dimming).
I think I'll be happy with the LCD but let's be real, the Oled revision with all of these HDR games is going to be the definitive model.
Except Every hands on preview at switch 2 events from outlets like digital foundry said it was a very good LCD display? No one is saying it's a great HDR display. And if they are, that's fine, but they're just wrong. It's objectively a terrible HDR display ranked against those metrics, and that's not even hyperbole.
But yes, thankfully the roots are planted for future displays which can handle HDR, and those will look great, much like docked mode on a more capable HDR display would.

Sorry - misreadBeing a good LCD display and being a good HDR display are two different things. It can be a terrible HDR display - like 1/10, and still be a good LCD display.
Holy shit... It can't get any more stupid than this.....
This is standard screen calibration tech and there absolutely are general standards/goals for the metrics involved,

As has been mentioned countless times since April 2nd, LCD panels are not great at HDR. This was previously known and is thus, no surprise. We get exactly what we knew we were getting as of April 2nd. It's certainly better than no HDR at all, I have to point out.Being a good LCD display and being a good HDR display are two different things. No it doesn't. Who gives a f about the person.Yes.
Compared to Switch 1 LCD this is absolutely true. I am fully satisfied. I wouldn't have paid $549 for a Switch 2 OLED anyway, even if the option existed, but glad for the time being they are focusing on just the OG and the MK bundle. All nonsense. Screen looks great.
Yeah because there is nothing but objective facts on youtube. No it doesn't. Who gives a f about the person.
What matters are the objective facts.
Do what you want, who cares? It's your money.Stuff like this makes me reconsider cancelling my preorder and just wait for the OLED.
I can still cancel it and buy a PS5 Pro.
Seems like waiting for OLED is a smart idea

And again, if you're using the OG Switch as the point of comparison, which you should be, then let's discuss and dissect the differences between the Switch 1 LCD panel and the Switch 2 LCD panel. That's a comparison that makes sense. That is reasonable. That is useful. That helps illustrate to those who haven't yet purchased a Switch 2 but owned a non-OLED Switch what they can expect.
I mean yea of course. It's your cash and I'm sure you worked hard for it.
It just comes across as quite an excessive amount to put into a gaming console.
It makes absolutely no sense to compare an OLED panel to an LCD. That just seems flatly absurd, on it's face. And what possible comparisons are there to draw that aren't already known? Very odd.Why would I compare to LCD Switch 1 when I own the OLED Switch 1? That's what I can choose to play on right now, for games that run on both devices. Of course, performance will factor it as well, as does screen size, but would you not compare OLED Switch 2 to LCD Switch 2 when the OLED refresh releases in a few years and someone asks what version to buy? It will definitely have a better display, in almost every area. Black levels, response times, motion clarity, HDR, color accuracy, and so forth. Sites like rtings.com which judge displays cover like ~20-30 different aspects, and the OLED Switch 2 will be better in almost every single one.
I am disappointed in all my LCD devices equally, don't worry. I'm not separating out the Switch 2 from the rest when it comes to their shortcomings.

You managed to top the pure stupidity that the first posting I responded to was. I did not think that possible.
My reply was in response to someone who was criticizing the OP. Which I responded to, agreeing with him that OP is wrong, and expounding on that thought by also pointing out that gotcha YouTubers have replaced actual media coverage. Which is a fact, by the way. Not an opinion.
Aaaand here you are only reading my reply without any context other than that which you bring with you. And we all know what they say about assuming. Didn't your parents teach you that? Surely they covered off on that. It's really a life lesson.
Last point I'll make… The only salient comparison for the Switch 2 screen, knowing it's an LCD, is to directly compare it to OG Switch. Any other comparison is completely useless, makes no sense, and does no good at all. As a successor to Switch, using an LCD panel, one must use the Switch 2 LCD predecessor as the primary point of comparison.
I look forward to those comparisons that show how terribly made the Switch 2 screen is.
Because sensors change their readings depending on the first name of the person operating them....Yeah because there is nothing but objective facts on youtube.
Of course it matters.

That is one incredibly... incredibly stupid take...
You're right. The mods taking away your ability to make threads sure helped though. You can't fix stupid
Maybe the Switch 1 OLED screen is calibrated with white balance level close to 6500K so that's why it has yellow tint?I have it in my hands now and I think the video is an over-reaction.
I'm sitting here comparing the Switch OLED with the Switch 2 side by side using identical game screenshots found on the eShop. What jumps out is how shite the color accuracy of the Switch OLED actually is. It's got a strong yellow tint to everything and you only realize how wrong it actually looks when compared to the more neutral Switch 2.
Black levels are much better on OLED for sure, LCD is never going to beat it in that regard. But it's also not terrible, not nearly as bad as the original Switch or Steam Deck LCD (one of the worst screens I have ever used).
I will keep my Switch OLED around for games like Fatal Frame which are basically in pure darkness. But seeing the colors side by side, I prefer the Switch 2 overall for most other games.
I also use a 450 nits QD-OLED monitor for PC gaming and find that level of HDR brightness perfectly adequate there even if it's not considered "real HDR". I stopped paying attention to 4K TV brightness wars when I got my LG C1 and at a supposedly paltry 800 nits thought "holy shit this is insanely bright" when played in a dark room.
I just didn't understand your post and responded with a jovial gif. Maybe explain what you mean please.
So either I'm retard or your a massive cunt, take your pick.
Nintendo needs to separate the HDR option into portable and dockedAll that prerelease marketing hype just to have to turn it off.
The OLED was gigantic for Switch, it made people double buy systems and made sure the Switch sold tens of millions more and made Nintendo billions.Yes, there is nothing wrong with offering an improved revision. Of course you can you prick. Can I pick?
Of course you can you prick.
just double dip in a couple of years. It's so simple!
Ok then let's call it a shit decision from the consumer perspective. The OLED was gigantic for Switch, it made people double buy systems and made sure the Switch sold tens of millions more and made Nintendo billions.
So yes, I agree it sucks that its pushed back for business purposes, but I would do the same if I were Nintendo. Its just too effective.
It would be nice to have in a refresh sure, but especially the VRR for docked mode… I find it hard to be gleeful about something shittily done / intentionally crippled with the current release to make the revision down the line appear worth more money…I do really think the refresh should capitalize on both ends at a minimum - the handheld crowd with OLED, and the docked crowd with VRR support, even with no power bump, that would turn heads.
