Zelda _NOT_ to use Revolution controller

Nintendo has dismissed claims that long awaited GameCube title The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will be playable on the Revolution using the wacky old "freestyle" controller.

NGC magazine was responsible for starting the rumours with an article which read: "Twilight Princess will be playable on the forthcoming Revolution using the upcoming console's unique controller.

"When you insert the disc into your Revolution, you'll be given the option to use the Revolution's controller, with all the advantages this will bring."

But that's not the case, Nintendo told Eurogamer: "The article in the January edition of NGC Magazine is pure speculation.

"Nintendo have made no new announcements regarding The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. We can however confirm that the game is still in development and that it will launch on Nintendo GameCube in 2006."

So, a bit of wishful thinking there, according to Nintendo. But maybe there will turn out to be a grain of truth in the speculation eventually, you never know...
Hope that means it'll be released a few months earlier than November!

Development can mean anything, designing the packaging is also game development.
Im expecting this game before E3 2006 so Nintendo can go all out with their Revolution system

WHY?

Fucking, I want that square-half-a-foot of counter space back, goddamnit. My gamecube laughs at me for owning it. It's like "Haha, lookatme, I took all your money!" and I'm like :( and it's like "lawlz"

REV FTW damnit!

I think that its better Nintendo do this. I wanted them to develop a game from scratch that takes full advantage of the controller, rather than make the first zelda game that utilises the controller a GC game.

My guess is that the game will be out about July - November, which sounds like a bad move because PS3 will oversahdow the game and possibly revolution could overshadow it, but Im not too sure when nintendo plan on releasing it, does anyone know?

You know, I don't think Nintendo cares. I think it sees TP as something they have to do for the fans and supporters of the GameCube.

I really hope Zelda TP comes out on Gamecube in April-May, with NO exhancements or controller schemes for Revolution. Twilight Princess should be a Gamecube game only.

with the only connection to Revolution being normal backwards compatibility, like any other GCN game.

Zelda Revolution should come out in timely fashion, around late 2008.

This is slightly OT, but the release for this game could have come at a worse time. If this game was released sometime in the middle of the GC;s lifetime or even at the end of 2005 then it could have sold very very well. Zelda: WW sold just over 2 million, Zelda: TP looks like it could have sold 3 - 3.5 million and would have helped sell many more GC's and possibly have been in 2nd place in the console race. Now that ist being released at a time when people are going to be moving from this gen to next, the game just wont sell as well as it could have.

In Nintendo speak, does "pure speculation" mean "pure bullshit"?

If they actually fell that it's needed to respond to rumours then you can be assured that it's BS.

So much for the kick ass idea of a remote control lookng rev controller..hell, nintendo dont even want to use it for their titles lol :lol

I just had to laugh when i read this...freaking halarious

I thought that they never responded to rumors?? If they only respond to the untrue rumors thats almost like confirming that the unresponded rumors are true. Maybe they dont want everyone to be disapointed when its released that it won't work with rev?

I was the one who posted the original thread when I picked up the magazine.

Nintendo have said its "pure speculation", and I think thats fair. There were one or two sentences saying they knew it would have a seperate control option, but the rest of the article (a good 4 pages) definately was primitive speculation.

I still think NGCs source might have been onto something though, whether it has full Revolution control-capability or not. Who did Eurogamer contact? NOE? NGC's publisher are taking over official Nintendo magazine responsibilities this month, it might be interesting to see if the first issue makes any mention of it.

If it turns out that the Rev control story was total BS, err.. sorry, my bad.

If you read the way Nintendo worded it, they're saying it's speculation at this point because they haven't announced it. Still a possibility, although pretty unlikely, I think.

Nintendo is king at killing any kind of hype for their products.

Example
Fans: WTF awesome new Zelda game with amazing graphics, deep plot, flying on a dragon FTW!! Imagine a Revolution Zelda!
Nintendo: This game is the last traditional zelda. Expect the same graphics for rev, link will not fly on a dragon.

Fans: WTF awesome new GTA game with amazing graphics...
Rockstar/Sony : Cool eh? Yeah it rocks takes place in the city of london. Photorealistic graphics.

Microsoft: Xbox360 is 10 times faster!!
Sony :PS3 is 30x times faster!! beat that bitch!!
Nintendo: Revolution will be 2 till 3x times faster then gamecube.

Sony: PS3 fully playable at E3 its awesome its cool its fast!! 100games ready for launch!
Nintendo: We expect the revolution to be at E3 this year. We hope it will start up without any bugs problems or faulty chipsets. We also expect to have a game ready for launch.

What Nintendo should do is simply release it for the GC, and after everyone buys it, announce that it also has features installed that activate on the Revolution.

I am so happy Nintendo isn't making another "woah this game is so cool, like GTA, i can kill anyone who is crossing my way." Give us hardcore dragons to ride on blablah.

They can do ALL of it with a new franchise but please leave Zelda as good as it is and don't ruin it with "great" ideas of GTA fans.

Nintendo: We decided the cel shaded look would fit the game better.

Fixed.

Twilight Princess said:
PLEASE FIX THOSE CRAPPY GRASS TEXTURES!!! USE FUR-SHADED GRASS! PLEASE! NINTENDO, I BEG YOU!

Zelda = crappy textures, live with it.

(the 3d ones that arent utilizing cell shading)

Myeah, Nintendo is holier than the pope.

I think it's important to notice that no one is saying it will -not- Rev controller features built in; they are basically just saying it has not been officially announced.

Personally...I have confidence it -will- ship with Rev controller features.

Fans: We hope that Mario Revolution will kick ass!
Nintendo: We're basing it off of Mario Sunshine.

Confidence? Or wink-nudge its happening confidence?

What a stupid thread title. Nowhere in that quote does Nintendo deny that Twilight Princess will take advantage of the Revolution controller, nor do they confirm it.

Personally I'd be very surprised if Nintendo just releases it as a vanilla Gamecube game. They're not that stupid.

Fans: Oh boy next gen Star Fox, possible Kojima revision of Kid Icarus. SSBM at launch!
Nintendo: Star Fox is not in development, and there are no plans. But, we plan to have "Dancing with Luigi" and "Princess Swap" ready for launch. Non gamers FTW!

it's happenig. Also, do you know when Nintendo plan to release some news of the game? Just say yes or no.

No. :( If I had to guess just based on history and my own wild speulation, I'd say at DICE in Feb (isn't Reggie speaking...?) or GDC in March.

thanks for your answer. DICE? has Nintendo ever attended that.
