Zelda BOTW Switch Day 0 Patch incoming

There is, I got the WiiU version of the game yesterday, played an hour or so. Just played it again today and there was an update/patch, which installed. The game seems to be running a little smoother now, but maybe that's just my imagination.

I think it's placebo effect because framerate still falls to not confortable numbers.

The switch version drops to 20 FPS? What??

Does anyone know if you can download updates without linking a Nintendo Account?

You can download updates without a nintendo account. I did both the system update and zelda update with a local switch account.

Do you know how big the patch is?

I have spent close to $500 (Switch, Pro Controller, Zelda BoTW) and I am so very disappointed by the performance I am getting on my tv. I can't connect my Switch to the internet thus far,, so i haven't been able to perform any updates.

Without an update, my framerate dips to about 15-20 during every single enemy encounter. Is that normal? It's practically unplayable, and I'm not having fun. I dread seeing enemies when I should be welcoming it.

Is there an explanation of the update? Does it fix the docked framerate?

I've put 12 hours in. 11 of which in TV mode and I have none of those problems... When I was in the tutorial area the frames dipped whenever I was near the Temple of Time and hacked the long grass. I didn't start playing till last night so I've played with the patch since the get-go. Also, no idea how you cannot get online. My Switch connected to my wifi during the set up. No problems at all for me so far.

I sorta live in the boonies, and the router must not output the proper frequency for the Switch?! No idea. I've gone to Starbucks, but without an internet browser to accept the terms/agreement the Switch won't get past the connecting phase. Sigh. I want to play so badly, but refuse to until I can successfully DL the patch.

Maybe I have a defective Switch when it comes to WiFi?! I might have to call Nintendo on Monday...

Have you tried different wifi security settings on your router? One of my friends had the same issue until he messed around. The switch doesn't seem to be happy with WPA-PSK (TKIP) if you're using that by any chance.

For some weird reason I could not connect to the Internet until I manually changed my DNS setting to 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4.

You have to be strangely forgiving not to notice the frequent extreme frame drops in this game. It goes down to like 12 fps at times. It's usually fine, but happens frequently. Espescially when it rains.

Are sure you aren't confusing the pauses the characters make when attacking enemies, with frame dips?
