I should be asleep right now (it's 5:30am), but this feature kept me awake. Go check it out -- it's worth it for the pics and the Koji Kondo interview alone.

I'm not jealous or anything. No, seriously.

...

Check out Koji's rig! :D

Link turns into a guitar wolf. And plays a lonely solo in the rain.

Holy shit! Proof in this new screen!

Honestly, I think Wind Waker looked better and I didn't especially care for the cel shading. WW at least had that obvious Zelda charm to it. I'm not feeling that with this. Of course, a big part of any Zelda game is actually getting to run around the world and see how well it's been crafted so it could completely change my mind when I play it, but for now I'm feeling a lot more 'meh' then a thought I would towards this.

That game looks worse'n'worse. But lets wait for teh motion

yea the ground textures all look shit...but we already saw the game in motion and it DID look Amazing. SO i think i will base my hopes on the video rather than the screens.

Nintendo doesn't know how to photoshop their own images. Do they even have a Marketing Department?

This is just the way they operate. They gave out in-game peak performance numbers while their competitors were throwing out huge theoretical numbers that could only be achieved in non-game situations. They said that range of the Wavebird was like 20ft when in reality it has a huge ass range. And everytime they release pics, they are straight frame buffer dumps and not retouched, overprocessed PR pics.

Sometimes I like the modesty/honesty, but I can see how that won't sell games sometimes.

I honestly can't believe how graphics are a concern for some of you. Has a zelda game ever been so crappy looking it detracted from the gaming experience? Graphics are the last thing anyone should give a darn about.

I am surprised there aren't alot of shoot ups in Japanese office buildings. The Nintendo one was so boring. I'd have to bludgeon myself with some Gamecubes.

Game looks AOK too. :)

Sony: "PS2 = Toy Story-like graphics. PS3 = Shrek 2 rendered in real-time. Nuclear warheads are using PS2s as their guidance systems."
Microsoft: "We will sell 100 M of Xboxes. We were the thought and hype leader this gen."

Nintendo: "We suck. We really do."

Seriously.

I can't believe they're still hammering out details like fishing. I hope this doesn't get delayed too much.

To be honest, the game seems early in many respects. Reading things like Kondo saying he's yet to start working on the music (even if his underlings/colleagues have) is perturbing to say the least. As is Aonuma saying he's interested in trying to incorporate the fishing into a boss sequence. Design should be fairly locked at this point if its due out by November in JPN/US.

That was a good read; thanks for the notice. :)

That would be awesome to see Koji Kondo play for you in person. Wow.

I wouldn't be too worried. I remember someone at Retro said that Metroid Prime was only about 30% complete at its E3 showing and yet they got it out in the same year. EAD might not be Retro, but I bet they're just as capable.

I hope this game isn't 2006, but I get worried that it is :( I mean wtf, Kondo hasn't even started yet? I figured he would need atleast more time than 4 months or so to create a complete soundtrack.

Delayed from when? Its never had a release date to consider being delayed.

The game has been scheduled for 2005 since the start. On top of that, the game doesn't look good in screens. Unless they're official screens from Nintendo. Other than that, the captures have been crappy thus far. Watch a trailer of the game, and you'll see how beautiful it really is.

You make it sound like EAD are a bunch of rookies or some shit. I mean, it's EA fuckin D!

Where'd it say that?

recent info from a german magazine. It goes like this:

"They(nintendo) want to integrate a water-road into the overworld, accessible with your boat. It's possible to reach far places faster then with your horse."

but yeah, the boat wont be a big part of this game as wind waker was.

Actually, he might not. I remember reading a Marty O'Donnel interview (Halo's music man) where he talked about having to wait to do most of the music right at the end of development for Halo 2, the last few months or so, when the game has come together enough to get a feel for the levels and what's going on in any one scene.

oh ok. These guys work fast :P

Thanks for the GREAT feature btw. Be sure to ask Nintendo about a releasedate on this game at E3. Since I guess you didn't in this interview :)

Also, wouldn't it have been a couple months ago that he said this to you, Mark? Since the 1UP feature is the leavings from a magazine article that just hit stands and all, it seems like there's a larger buffer between his comments and the game's release date than it looks like.

Thanks :) I did ask about release date, but they just said it hadn't changed--Q4 2005.

And Nich is right, this interview took place almost two months ago.

That's a rather nice feature

Everytime I look at photos of nintendo's HQ I always admire how it looks.

EDIT:
EGM: How would you describe this Zelda in relation to the others, besides just "realistic"? Will it be a darker game?

EA: What part of the game demo made you think this might be darker?

EGM: Well, it was more of an impression left by the two trailers. Like the dungeons, or where it's in the woods, it's raining and Link is fighting those Skeletal animals. And just the realistic graphics alone might make it seem darker or grittier...

EA: Actually, that's not what this game was intended to be. In order to show good-looking bright action, we needed to feature darker aspects, to highlight -- literally highlight -- the lighter portions. That's simply because the people [who chose what to put in the trailer] tended to choose the darker areas, and maybe as a result people have the impression that this is going to be a darker game.

Hmmm
