Zombi - Pure Survival Horror is coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC [ZombiU Port]

Played this back when it launched. It's certainly not the second coming of the survival-horror genre -- but it's a solid, resource-scarce survival horror game that feels old-school because of the difficulty. Also, the mechanics are pretty fucking clunky. But it has one particular section that's really brilliant and quite scary.

In for PC. Here's hoping for another stellar* Ubisoft PC port.

EDIT: wait I guess its not Ubi themselves porting it? In which case niiiiice.

Good game. The fun and intensity came from both the survival horror aspect and gamepad integration. True the game will work without it, but imo your losing a portion of what made it fun/intense

Looks exactly like the wiiu version

As I said before, looks exactly like the wiiu version. So the "FUCK YEAH PS4 GRAPHICS" crowd should hold their horses

But I really think everyone should play it. It's AMAZING. Feels like a game from the best days of the ps2 days. A game that you learn to love and soon you start to memorize every part of it.

Im worried that
- improvements may take away what made the game special
I don't know how to explain it, but Zombie on WiiU was almost BROKEN, and that was somehow wonderful

- lack of game pad may hurt the game
I'm sorry, but the game pad was great in this game
You sound hurt about this game coming out for other platforms

Kinda excited, thought this thing was much further off.

Be cool for some mod support, maybe I can turn my tablet into the handbag thingy.

From the ubi-blog:

  • Minimap moved to screen, dissappears when not in use - Preserves minimalist HUD
  • Increased FOV with option to increase/decrease slightly, "but not so much that it takes away that claustrophobic feeling"
  • Two new melee weapons: shovel offers longer range and the ability to hit more than one zombie at a time, while the nail bat gives you more damage and a higher critical-hit chance (while also being able to hit more than one enemy at a time)
  • Flashlight has been updated with new options: switch to a wider, further-reaching beam at the expense of battery life and a greater risk of attracting zombies. It’ll also have to be kept off for 30 seconds to recharge
  • "Rummaging in the backpack still doesn’t pause the game. We’ve added a dedicated button to access the backpack...players won’t be able to see approaching zombies unless they’re coming from the sides of the screen"
  • Only one second-screen-dependent feature will not return: ZombiU’s single-system multiplayer

Hmm, they don't mention the Dark Souls esque feature of when a player dies his zombie shows up in another players game somewhere and there's a race to get to him first anywhere. Hope it's not cut.

Is this good? I mean, owners on Wii say so, but is this like a Dark Souls with zombies?
I mean, a VERY hard and punishing survival? Or you can complete it without so much troubles?
No, it's not nearly as punishing as the Souls series. Just a lot harder than recent Resident Evil and most other survival horror games. There's very little ammo, you're overwhelmed by enemies, and most of the time you are better served by running.

On PC.

My thoughts exactly.

Thats awesome. Im glad you have all that time to play those games on your business schedule and social life.

Im 154 years old.

It's not ultra-hardcore, but every single zombie in the game can kill you in one hit, and the game has legitimate limited resources beyond your melee weapon, so you have to play very, very carefully. The level design is set up in such a way where you can avoid conflict in some situations with much hassle, but this is the kind of game that will largely favor the cautious over the bold.

It's there
Dying replaces your character with a new one who then has to fight your zombified previous incarnation in order to retrieve whatever you were carrying before you died.

How many unplayed Steam games do you have? I'm not trying to call you a hypocrite, but I'm just curious.

Games end up in people's backlogs for a number of reasons. I've had Bayonetta 2 sitting sealed beside my Wii U since Christmas. It's not that I think it's a bad game, but it's not at the top of the pile of games that I'm trying to play through with my already limited gaming time.

It's nowhere near the same class as the Souls games. Great atmosphere, but piss poor everything else, especially the melee.

You will die. A lot. Not Dark Souls a lot but a lot.
It's a really good game and deserved more praise. Sadly reviewers had their brains up their bums at the time.
I always found the poorish image quality on the WiiU version to actually work for the better as it just made everything seem that little more grimy and oppressive.

One hit kill zombie hordes? That sounds amazing. I always wanted a game where the zombies actually felt dangerous, and not just due to sheer numbers

So the game's not open world? I thought it was

It better be well optimized for PC or dat refund

Is this the first Ubisoft release since the refund system has been implemented? I have faith in Straight Right in doing solid work (as they always have), but for their sake, I hope Ubi isn't pushing an unoptimized PC build out the door.

Well, one-hit kill in the sense that if they bite you, that's it. They can swipe at you to progressively damage you, but those swipes will do serious damage. This is a game where everything hurts, including being too close to your own explosive traps.

Honestly, none. I only buy games I plan to play right away. This past summer sale, I didnt buy any games.
Jesus when did neoGAF turn into this shit.

Go outside, guy.

Hmm ok? I cant be happy you actually enjoyed some really good game despite your limited time with gaming. Geezz!

That's great.

I currently own three (THREE) games I purchased and haven't played to completion yet. Those games include Zombi U, Wind Waker HD, and Bloodborne.

Let's be a complete douche about it.

If that's the case then I'd seriously suggest you learn how your tone comes across.

Im not being a douche, I was actually happy for you that you got to play some really good games.

Whatever then.

Decent from a raw numbers standpoint, but it's been at $20 and less for the longest time.

It's been under $10 numerous times, including at Best Buy last I checked.

I'm just glad it will get a second chance on PS4/Xone. Hopefully, it's successful enough for a proper sequel on any console. I'd just be happy to be able to play a second installment (as long as they keep it pure survival horror).
