Zynga: Mark Pincus returns as CEO, replaces Don Mattrick

I think he could solve the Amiibo crisis well. EA > Microsoft > Zynga > Nintendy

Well he is from Vancouver, and Nintendo in the Western Hemisphere was founded in Vancouver, and is headquartered now in Redmond WA and Richmond BC.

Mattrick gonna complete the Gordie Howe hat trick!

I guess they're Don with him.

Seriously though, even though we don'tdon't like the guy and he was largely responsible for messing up the XBone, he might be leaving for another reason.

His initial job might simply have been to turn Zynga around, not hang around after it was done. His paycheck must ve justified to some extent, believing otherwise is naive, you don't make 50 mill $ a year without credentials.

In the end it doesn't really matter as we're finally again getting games for the Xbox.

His tenure at xbox was terrible. He was the downfall of the xbox one for me. I know it wasn't just him.

But microsoft had problems before the xbox one was announced. The 360 didn't have much coming out for it exclusive wise and the focus was Kinect related.

I always preferred when Robbie Bach and J Allard were running things.

I have nothing against Mattrick. But I just hope he doesn't move to another game studio or anything videogamer related. His vision for games sucked.

Some people in this thread don't seem to realize how absurdly rich Don Mattrick is. I'm sure he'll do just fine in his fucking mansion.

Being a CEO seems kind of awesome. No matter how much you suck or get let go, someone will always still hire you and pay you a shit ton.

Once you are at an executive level, it's very easy to move around into executive jobs despite past failures.

The hard part is actually breaking into the executive level. But once you're there, you're pretty much in that executive club for life no matter where you end up working.

Im pretty sure that Microsoft thing wasn't forced, and that he was planning to leave before he ruined Xbox.

You think he up and quit 6 months before the most important launch of his career? Before launching a product he had just spent the past 5 years preparing for? Come on.

Mattrick was already crazy rich. The idea that he'd leave one of the three most important jobs in gaming on the eve of a huge launch in order to do the dirty work at Zynga doesn't pass the sniff test.

Exposing the sinister cartel of retailers who allow companies to pay for advertising space.

I bet the money was too good to pass up.

New Zynga CEO Don Mattrick's Total Pay Package Is Over $50 Million

Don Mattrick gets about $15M for leaving Zynga

"I plan to return to Canada to pursue my next challenge," said Don Mattrick.

Fuck sakes, Canadian companies don't need you, Don.

I dunno Mattrick has been pretty good to Vancouver. Black Tusk exists because of him, as does Big Park (which now does Xbox App software). He started up a new Microsoft studio in Victoria (!) that employed a bunch of people and built cool stuff and that ran for a little while until Mattrick left Microsoft and Microsoft wondered why the hell they had a studio in Victoria.

Edit: As well way back in the day he founded Distinctive Software which became EA Canada (FIFA, NHL) so that was kind of a big deal.

If he builds something new in Vancouver that'd be pretty cool.

In fairness to Mattrick, Zynga was a sinking ship, it was fairly obvious to anyone the bubble was about to burst.

Yeah, I got no love for the guy. But there wasn't a snowball's chance in hell he was going to save Zynga; I honestly don't know if anyone can.

To echo what others have said however, I hope he rides the bad idea train all the way over King Games.

I dunno, did any of you actually read the press release in the OP?

Zynga was doing terribly when Mattrick arrived and he's turned it around. My guess is simply that he was never planning on staying long.

Current CEO Don Mattrick will leave Zynga immediately and also will step down from its board. In a press release, he said he was moving back to his native Canada.

Wow. If that ain't fired, what is? That thing about Canada kills me for some reason.

I kinda have to imagine him moving back in with his parents.

For all the tricks Mark Pincus pull from his book' he could not see through Don Matrick bluff.

The fall from grace is deserved. It could have been so much more but I guess this is expected for a start up company who prided themselves as nothing more but a copy cat.

I'm not sad since he seems not to be that good so...

And lol at Pachter saying Zynga is on the right track. It's really not the case. Does he only says random things and pray to be lucky?

haha, probably deserved though. Did a poor job at Microsoft and now hasn't lasted at Zynga either. Hopefully no one else makes the mistake of offering him a top job like this.

Pachter saying that and everyone knows Zynga is doomed.

He did great at Microsoft with the Xbox 360.

I seriously had to goggle zynga to remind myself of exactly what awful valueless games they made. So I really have no idea if the company is stabilised as they since mobile games are not interesting to me.

I wouldn't mind him taking over (and tanking of course) EA's Origin.
Why??? doesnt ea have the right to sell their own games on their own platform?
That mentality is childish, egoistic and naiive. If steam doesnt offer all the games you wanna play and you have to go to origin thats steam fault not ea's.
