About P4G on Very Hard, I have to say I don't like at all how the experience is decreased. I wanted the game to be more hard, no more grindy. I discovered how little experience I was getting when I defeated Yukiko with me characters at level 8 (only MC survived the battle, he leveled up 2 levels lol) and saw she was level 15 when he joined the party.

Maybe that the reason her shadow did 150+ attacks.

But I have many words to say.

I'm still trying to come to terms with the fact that Resistance 2 will forever sit at 90% unless I can get 2.5k more kills somehow.

Honestly, if you stick with it you can probably rack up those remaining kills before the servers close. I got the majority of them over a two month period back in like '09.

How far are you into the game? I reseted at one point to go to normal. Normal feels like a good balance because you can get away with almost no grinding as long as you strategize each boss fight. Honestly I think I would have enjoyed the game even more on easy simply because I hate pointless grinding and the dungeons in general were a bore to me.

I didn't buy a single RPG until 2011. I'm catching up while the PS4 drought is in full effect.

Just jack it to above average until your sufficiently leveled. Then crank it back down to just below average for that extra challenge.

How far are you into the game? I reseted at one point to go to normal. Normal feels like a good balance because you can get away with almost no grinding as long as you strategize each boss fight. It's my second playthrough. I've beaten Shadow Yukiko and just did the first mid term exams. So this is a matter of pride, I've started the road for mastery.

I hate pointless grinding too. My main problem with the game on Very Hard was how the lack of experience make you too weak. I'm totally fine exploiting the battle system, but it's hard to do it when you don't have the proper tools to fight (no Hama / Mudo skills, no Rakukaja / Sukukaja / Tarakuja).

Still, I like when RPGs don't force you to play on harder difficulties using trophies. If I like the game and the challenge is fair enough. I'll choose it by myself. Is like replayability. The best way to unsure player returning to your game is making it totally awesome. Uncharted 2 is worth returning for me. Persona 4 is worth returning for me. Tales of Vesperia was worth returning for me (I liked challenges like the "don't use items until this point of the game" or the "finish in 15h" achievements, though).

I think I'll just go above average until I'm at the right level. The just drop it to average. I like exploiting the battle system, I don't want extra grinding (which means extra days on dungeons). If I put below average I'll end underleveled and I may end up raging and buying Personas 20 levels above me lol

Since you already played P3, you should give P3P a shot so you can experience the better battle system and play the game from the female protagonist's perspective. I think the femc is enough to make it feel like a new experience.

She have more personality than MaMC, and you can see how it is from their S.Link and choices difference. Also her S.Link being more "P4 like" aka you share more intimate bond with your fellow S.E.E.S member does a lot to bring her personality fleshed even more.

And her character design stomped everything that Soejima himself have created thus far.
Well, maybe not Fuuka.

I'm inclined to agree with the song choices, but MC is just some depressive little sack of uninteresting. He's boring. His speech options suck. His attitude sucks. He's just some generic self-insertion filler character.

FeMC > MC
At the very least, at least she has a personality.

Also, you have that completely backwards. Rie Kugimiya is the tsundere VA. Playing a Kuudere (Rise) is the thing that's irregular for her.

If anything, it's the MC of P3 that I have a problem with. Everyone falls over him and they are pointless if his boring ass isn't in the room. Except for Mitsuru. Sometimes. She's the only strong one out of the bunch. People don't like you just because you're quiet and reserved. They just ignore you and you sit in the corner of the room being an introvert. P3 MC was just some guy that was along for the ride. Not like anyone else did anything either though. The only memorable plots was

FeMC had a personality !! She had multiple ones of them. She's outgoing if you want her to be and not so much if you don't. Like I said. She has a personality. The exact same thing goes for Yu in P4. People may fall over him even more than P3 MC but, at least he's cool enough and has a personality for it.

The only canon there is, is the dialogue choices you have. That, determines the characters. FeMC has much more energetic and upbeat dialogue choices than MC. That is... fact. Generally speaking, that's fact.

Oh she does, but that doesn't mean his personality is automatically terrible. It suited his storyline perfectly, he was pretty much completely apathetic to start and then as you begin making bonds with people and helping people around you he starts caring more about others, (Ending spoilers)

. I think it's a really neat character that could have been a lot more with a little bit more fleshed out writing. In ways I preferred his character choices to the FeMC, but I agree that her S.Links were much better written in general (There are a few I didn't like and a few I prefer the Male MC links - Hermit for example).

And yes, that is what I was suggesting. There is very little canon personality for these characters since they're essentially an avatar for the player. You're supposed to inject your own feelings and suggestion into the character - so you're not wrong, but that's just your personal interpretation.
