Nintendo Direct Feb 13, 2014 Thread | 3DS/Wii U Spring games

Seems odd they are doing a 2nd focused on spring 2014 Direct. December 18th Direct was touted as the same thing. If we are expecting to see stuff from X etc. that would certainly be beyond spring unless Nintendo suddenly has one hell of a spring lineup

I think it's still safe to assume we won't see Zelda until E3... but what if they choose to delay a lot of their announcements for E3? As in we don't see any new software for the next four months?

The last ND was really good so it helped raise my hype levels for this one unfortunately. Oh well, can't be helped... Pour it on Nintendo, pour it all on!!!

Consider me on that Hype Train.
I'd be willing to bank on a handful of new titles for this year that we had no idea about. If I'm remembering right, Super Mario 3D World was like that; first talked about in the Jan. Direct, then shown at E3 and released in Oct/Nov, right?

I'd like some more info on Yarn Yoshi, X and SMT X FE. It'd be interesting to see if they really push/talk much about Mario Kart since that's really the only big Pre-Spring game that'll be out....I think.

Hopefully we'll also get some more info on Kirby coming out over here...and maybe some more 3DS titles since that front is looking a little dense.

Anyone think we'll see some Indie stuff? I'm really interested in that Shovel Knight and since that'll be out in March we should probably see something.

No, she didn't.

Hashimoto retweets, Bayo 2 info incoming! Maybe.

"So I guess you can say things are getting pretty serious..."

I'm kinda expecting to see the gaps in ths 3ds lineup to get filled up a bit.

Oh man I can't wait for more X info!!! Can we get a summary of what we can 100% expect from the Direct? Soraya's retweet basically confirms X.

Hmm. I think it was somehow alluded to, on this forum I think, that X was being localized as it was being developed. However don't think there was ever any confirmation on that or how that conclusion was even reached. I'd welcome it if it was the case though. Then again they'e been showing X for a while now. It's not like Directs hold 100% to what they being advertised as.

The problem is you can't sell a product to people that have or already will buy it.

I dunno that it's all that guaranteed.

Before they sell more Wii U's (which is probably not a ship that's going to be righted this year, if at all, since it will require a different focus in software), they need to solve the incredibly immense problem of current Wii U owners not buying software. Two million for Mario out of a base of, what, double or triple that is kind of insane because that's the highest rated and acclaimed game on the system. Nintendo is literally the only game in town on the Wii U, Wii U owners should be buying software, but they're not.

They need to get them buying software and acting as a footstool to even think about reaching the ceiling to change the lightbulb.

Now that is actually realistic.....and very underwhelming as is to be expected.

Too late for me; I've left the party. I might sneak in around the back to steal a beer or two if Metroid Prime or Zelda comes, but that's it. See ya later Iwata I'm outta here!

The longer they take to bolster the value proposition of the Wii U, the more likely it is people will just move to another system to get most of their gaming fix unless they are essentially Nintendo first and foremost. A group I hazard to think is rather small in the scheme of things these days (20 mill maybe).

First I'm a Nintendo fan. I have a Wii U. A launch unit. I always look forward to Nintendo Directs. I'm in every thread when one is announced. Don't assume anything.

However Nintendo has been on a downward spiral in the past year. I won't ignore that. However ND's still excite people like crazy as shown in the this thread. I'd like to know why. Some people act like certain bad things haven't had happen. Like they haven't been disappointed before. However time and time again people go crazy in these threads. Why?

The number of Nintendo Directs where I've been pleased have far outnumbered the ones that have disappointed me. I keep my expectations realistic and as long as I get some new info about a game I care about I'm happy. That doesn't mean I can't get hyped about the possibility of something more than my expectations; I just won't get bummed out if they just deliver what I expect. They do have a penchant for surprises.

You need to realize that the number of people who have been pleased by NDs far outweigh the number of people who claim disappointment.

This... this actually makes sense, I can see them do this.

Maybe they will talk about their plans for the QOL goods, perhaps slow start on Wii U with some fitness game.
