Titanfall Beta (PC/Xbone) Impressions (No Key Begging/Trading or I will ban you!)

OK I'm going to have to take back some of the shit I've talked about Titanfall. It's a lot of fun.

I still wish there was a campaign or at least off line bots though.

I have a corei7 (2.2ghz) 6gb ram and a ati5450

What card would I need to play at 720p @high settings @ 60fps, and what card would I need to do the same at 1080p? thanks for any help.

It's a lot of fun but it really does kinda look poopy on Xbone. Also either I really suck or I'm missing something. Seems like the dudes who are atop the leaderboard every match have like 25 grunt kills where I'm lucky to see one or two. Is there a way to know where grunts are going to spawn or something?

You can memorize their spawn locations. Also, there's a perk that makes them all show up on your radar. But really you should be focusing on killing pilots.

Ok, kicking with sprint packs is the best way to get kills. Was number one in my last match with only kicks outside of 2 assault rifle kills.

Cod / Battlefield 4 have lots of different game modes and a campaign / as well as being developed by large teams. There is no way this game will be able to match that. Also both games have larger scale multiplayer which helps mix things up. I just don't think there is going to be enough here to match that. After all it isn't that long until launch.

People have hyped this game up to the eyeballs and disappointment is inevitable imo.

So you are saying that the development team size decides on whether or not a game can compete in the long term with others? Gotta say that's the first time I've ever heard that. The beta already has 3 modes, and we haven't seen all of them. Plus the campaign multiplayer aspect. If you're argument is the development team size and possibility of the amount of game modes, neither of those work in your favor.

I'm not even saying that TF will be as big as either of those games, just that your reasoning for why it won't be is flawed.

Repeating again: Nvidia users experiencing stuttering with vsync should play in windowed mode. No tearing, less (but still some) stuttering.

I get an entirely locked 60fps at 1080p, high settings with a 2GB 660.

i'm surprised anyone would play this with vsync. is the tearing really that bad?

Yea I played a game and I had the highest number of pilot kills (13), 2 titan kills and only 10 grunt kills, yet I was below 2 guys both of who seemed to have had 20+ Grunt kills and only 5-7 pilot kills.

The fucking Origin installer is shit. It wont download all the files and forces to repair the download every single time.

The scoreboard doesn't list any Titan kills or objectives completed though. The more useful column is the points on attack/defense ones.

is it just me or did the feb update on xbox fix almost all the tearing and slowdown?

btw - playing this with a ps4 controller is SO much better. They really messed up the xbox controller - sticks are small and too rigid.

using cronusmax to do this

It looks a bit like CoD, it plays like CoD, yet it feels all very different. I was pleasently surprised.

Last Titan standing mode is almost like a whole different game. It's much slower and tactical. Playing with people who don't know what they're doing is no fun though. Far too many times I found myself in a 1v4 situation.

Game is ok. I had to use adaptive vsync because otherwise it stuttered more than I care for. I dunno, I guess I'll need to play it more but it's not really doing anything new. And the grunts are not helping matters. I can't tell if I'm decent or not because I spend most of the time fighting real dumb ai. I hope that they'll have an option to turn them off in the real game.

PC BROS: USE ADAPTIVE VSYNC. This game tends to go well above 60 fps and most of the tearing happens because of that.

Its a pretty fun game but I hope there's a wide variety of weapons and perks. Runs great on my 7950 3gb/4670k(stock). Dislike the lobby system though, feels like a console port.

Seems like my pc cant run the game...

6GB

Stays all black after the 2 intro "videos", anyone know what it might be ?!

Can you get to the window mode to play? **edit: lol, that sounded dumb... Try this again..

Can you get to the main menu and see "Play"? Sorry for that other questionable question.

Definitely a lot of fun playing this, really had no intention of pre-ordering. Now I may, its just fun! Hope the graphics get a boost when its released tho!

Will this fix the stuttering to just turn it off? Because that's probably more annoying.
Windowed mode will keep vsync and fix most of the stuttering (at least it did for me.) Make sure you disable in game vsync, no point doubling up.

The issue seems to be caused by the in game implementation, which windowed mode bypasses.

Cool. Trying this out. Thanks for the info.

Game is fun overall, but so far I'm neither fan of the AI or 6v6. The last few Hardpoint games barely felt like a multiplayer experience. Without the Titans I probably wouldn't even be aware that other players are around.

Maybe it was just a string of odd games. We will see.

Though AI overall is just weird. I can see what Respawn were going for here with their interactions, but some Grunt vs Grunt action comes of as silly.

Go to where your origin folder is and delete the titanfall folder. You should then be able to redownload it.

This is more fun to me than CoD ever was. Pleasantly surprised.

Also bodes well for playing multiplat games this generation that my laptop annihilates this.

hardpoint is fucking awesome. not usually a fan of that game mode in other shooters but it does work really well in this.

Sorry if this has been answered before... On the Xbox One version, is it me or is there screen tearing issues?

I just want to make sure because its not my HDMI splitter acting up.

I just used the burn card for the smart pistol. Welp, that's ridiculous. I sat on B in angel city on hardpoint mode. I just instantly murdered anyone who tried to enter.

the smart pistol is good?

Game is good enough to warrant a buy however the framerate on the more open map isn't good on xb1. Hope this gets fixed.

So I finally got some face time in with Titanfall on the PC and good lord this game is fun. Fast paced, plenty of action and the gun sounds are decent. Only issues so far is the notice of low res textures everywhere, even when the settings are maxed out on everything. Though that said with it all maxed out I was still hitting 60 fps without a noticeable drop during action.

Though when there are are too many Titans on the map, it gets cramped real fast.

Good game, not amazing though.

Will wait for DF before I buy. Tearing and framerate dips are a no go. Hopefully it gets sorted out in the final version.

  • I get 30FPS, but it feels much laggier.
  • The evacuation is loads of fun
  • Bots can go die in a fire. They're so boring and I keep thinking they're real players from time to time.
  • I often much rather keep my titan as an AI buddy close to me. Partners in crime!
  • Love riding other Titans.
  • Hope performance gets a ffew fixes and I'll buy it. Oh and customization.

Surely more is always better? So says the internet

They did mention something about textures being lower res for the beta I think.

Finally jumped in. Not sure I'm feeling this yet--started with a few rounds of Attrition, as it's for new players, and it felt very... Call of Duty-ish. With robots, yes, but it felt like if you weren't finding things to kill constantly you would be really bad at the game, and I'm someone who tends towards shooters where you have other options besides killing things (Battlefield, TF2) because frankly, I'm not great at killing things and I don't have the best reflexes.

Some of the maps are open enough that it feels like the only strategy is to camp in a building until you get your titan, which is also not great to me. Also, I had at least one instance where I engaged my cloak and ran from a titan, then did some cool walljumping stuff to get away, found myself at a dead end, and then immediately got destroyed by a titan and a pilot or two. And I'm like "how...?"

Maybe I just need more time with it, but I'm not really impressed so far. It just might not be my bag.
