Titanfall Beta (PC/Xbone) Impressions (No Key Begging/Trading or I will ban you!)

Tribes does this a little, and unreal tournament had a crazy announcer when people were pulling off crazy kills. Added to atmosphere of the game.

Not sure what you're talking about. The bots talk a lot with relevant info, same thing when you kill a Titan--you get a mini-vid saying "Congrats on the Atlas kill", and the other messages. I was satisfied with the Bot Chatter--player chatter I can understand.

One thing hasn't changed from other MP FPS; I suck super hard at this game. Can't say I am having a whole lot of fun. I guess it's just not for me.
 
I've heard the bots having conversations as well.

Stuff along these lines:
" What makes those pilots so special? "
" Trust me man, when you see them fight you will understand. "
 
Am I alone or is there somebody else that is experiencing really big stuttering in this game?
It's really annoying.
Also I have 2x higher pings here than in other games :/

If you pop Subtitles on, you see the chatter a bit more.

First off. Forget normal FPS stuff. Staying on the ground gets you killed super quick. To start with, just play around with the wall-running stuff and learn to get around the map quickly and only engage stuff if you're happy. Getting the Lock-On rocket launcher and murdering Titans is really fun. Just keep moving!

I'm having the same issues on PC as well. Tried numerous times throughout the morning and it has been a mess every time.
 
I really love all the frank lloyd wright feeling houses and architecture.There are some beautiful spaces in this game, you just run by them so fast you don't even see them.

I'm starting to get pretty handy with the toolset available. I've been playing a lot of hardpoint and I just flat out sprinted through a house, jumped in one window ran through and shot two grunts, hopped out another window, rodeod a titan, started damaging it, then the pilot disembarked so I hopped off and shot at him and then he hopped back in, so i re-rodeod it at the exact same time he embarked it was hilarious.

I was fighting him, but the whole battle staged around this sort of floating platform he was in control of. And I just unlocked the warp titanfall emitter, which is clutch as hell. You can easily time it to crush groups of opponents or do a perfect run across the roof top and jump off with nothing to land on, but then BOOM your titanfall comes through and it grabs you out of the air.

I also was walking around with a group of four spectres surrounding me. It felt so damn cool. It was like I had a group of dogs with me. But they're kinda useless. Though I did forget about them and then 10 minutes later run into one of my Spectres that had survived the whole match.

Theres a decent learning curve to this game. It has a lot going on.

My ping was also unusually high when I played last night (US West). I haven't been able to connect at all today.
 
What are burn cards? Are they like perks? Sorry TitanGAF, I don't own a next gen console or capable gaming PC so I have to live vicariously through you.

This game might push me over the edge to get an XBO...still trying to decide if it's worth the $600+ investment.

They are single-life perks. Something like a better weapon, faster titan, special titans, etc.

One Time use cards when you die. You respawn and can choose a card, initially out of 1 but up to 3 in total. Die with the card on and you burn it, survive and you keep it. Cards you get by playing the game.

They add you various options and weapons. Some are Titan timer reductions, so you can Titan faster. Some are Amped versions of the weapons. Other are different Titan choices, or extra XP for Pilot kills etc. Who knows what else they have planned.!

Can't stress the fun factor of the game enough. Game is fucking fuuuuuuuun.

I guess the best part of the Azure stuff is being able to Hotfix stuff really quickly.

I have seen some really cool Cards but it really depends on how good you are at the game, since you can still get one-shot by a Titan and burn that card.

The infinite Arc Grenades is hilarious though. :D
 
Played for about 2 hours on PC. So much fun, even with randoms. Using a DS4, didn't really feel like I was at a disadvantage, although the auto aim may make it a little tougher to get those critical hits on titans.

Runs buttery smooth 1080p maxed out on my machine (i5 3570k stock, 7950, 16 GB RAM), but that was kinda to be expected, as it isn't a graphical showcase.

I bloody love this game its amazing. The guns feel so tight and the titans just make my jaw drop everytime.

I may be under the influence of something but my gosh i felt like i was in the game.

Cant wait for the full release.
 
The smart pistol is one of the most insulting things i have ever seen in a first-person shooter.

Used it once, and felt dirty and cheap.

Great for cleaning up A.I and insulting/annoying Pilots. :D

Try just using it and wall-running like mental.
 
I'm running an Intel i7 920 with 12GB of RAM and an EVGA GTX 760 4GB. Everything is at stock speeds.

The game is at max settings and runs liquid smooth.
 
I've been playing for a few hours now and come to the conclusion that this game isn't for me.

Good:
- The contrast of titans and pilots on the same battlefield.
- Movement is maybe the best I've seen in an FPS.
- Maps aren't designed around choke points (that comes mostly down to the pilots' mobility).

Bad:
- The AI soldiers tend to make bigger fights a bit awkward, I'd rather just play 6v6.
- Way too quick to kill a pilot. This is my main problem, and it's the one that breaks the game for me. I have no interest in multiplayer games where it takes two SMG bullets to kill another player.

This is an impressions thread, there can't be anyone who dislikes, or isn't head over heals in love with the game?
