Titanfall Beta (PC/Xbone) Impressions (No Key Begging/Trading or I will ban you!)

First, Thank you,

I tried without luck. I wonder if It's possible to uninstall the Beta and install it again. Will I lose my code If I do that?

PC? I think its linked to Origin, so you can uninstall and reinstall as you like. XB? Maybe you can uninstall and then re-select recent downloads and try again?

I don't care much for the Titans. They're giant "Hey everybody come kill me" billboards with weapons I don't really like either. They seem especially useless (maybe outside of Guard mode) in the point capture mode where you have to go on foot to get 2/3 of the points anyway. It's easier to cloak past them and go get the one point Titans can fit into, so I don't really see a reason to get in mine and do anything with it.

Maybe they're better in attrition mode, but usefulness aside, I still don't think they're very fun to use.

Hype is legit, this game is amazing :)

I'm playing full stealth right now, smart pistol and granade launcher. I'm not so good against pilots, but I love destroying titans and I almost always have most titan kills at the end of the round.

Can't even get into a game. It take 2 minutes to load into a match and then once I pick my class the connection times out. Tutorial was OK I guess.

Anyone else using a controller on PC and doing totally fine? I guess there's some auto aim going on.

Aim assist. Which I think is great, wish BF4 had aim assist for gamepads too. I'd play that game more if I could be even somewhat viable with pad, I like playing PC games on my TV.

Just started playing on PC with a 360 controller. Really surprised I don't feel much disadvantage. Only problem is those long range shots that need a bit more accuracy, but most of the encounters are pretty close quarters anyways. Been enjoying using the shotty on unsuspecting players :P

Try playing a few games of Last Titan Standing. Titans in point capture are definitely useful for guard mode but even follow mode can be helpful as you are running around it walk with/defend you. I often use my titan as a distraction in point capture mode.

How's the Sniper Rifle?

I'm not using it because the assault rifle feels quite right.

Also, the 40mm Canon is the best Titan weapon.

The one in the beta also feels a little OP so far. Between being able to sprint while reloading and getting two dashes, they're able to move way too quickly around and tear stuff up. The alert you get when someone locking on to you makes it pretty much impossible to get hit with an anti titan weapon if you're paying attention and have some kind of cover. When someone mounts you, the time it takes for you to get out and kill them if they stay on is almost quicker than them unlocking your hatch to shoot your core assuming they stay on. I'm still thinking as far as the atlus is concerned they'll do something to nerf em.

Game is fun as hell and this is coming from someone who hasn't really gotten into CoD. I'm playing PC with a 550ti. Card struggles without a doubt but I feel like it's mostly driver issues. Even setting it at 720p with AA off and most options medium or lower my PC has a hard time maintaining 60.

I'm also playing with an Xbox controller and I still find k/m players have the upper hand. The aim assist seems pretty gentle so dealing with human players is tough, but the bots are very easy. Dealing with Titans isn't too bad either because they're huge.

I haven't brought myself to use the auto gun much but it's auto aiming IMO needs to get nerfed a bit.

Just as I expected. I'm now lvl9 and the game is too fast paced and too "tunnelvision" for my liking. Not sure if people will get fed up with this fast pace in the end but at least I don't like it. It's just your typical zerg-shooter... with useless mechs. When the game's name is Titanfall and it involves mechs I'd like to use that mech a bit more. These mechs offer nothing to the game. I'm sure it will sell a lot, but I can't still see it as a system seller, PC version too much kicks ass - even though it's a bit rough. Let's see if it offers any longetivity as I at least like my games a bit more tactical.

I would really like to go over 60fps (have a 144hz monitor) but I'm not about to turn V-sync on.

It's the reason why I bought the monitor in the first place

:(

How can I check it and potentially modify it?

Right click the beta icon and go to "Run with graphics processor". Check which one has "(default)", if it's the integrated, click on "change default graphics processor" and find the program then just change it to the 525m.

Edit: I'm running Windows 8 though, not sure if it's different if you're running another OS. You could also double click the Nvidia icon at the bottom right and go to "manage 3D settings" and just do it from there. Also, looks as though the integrated always shows as default, my mistake, you can just check it in the Nvidia control panel window then.

So, after a few hours of game times with the beta, it's a fun game. worth a purchase.

It's not a "game changer" or "revolutionary" as many people made it out to be, but it doesn't have to be. Game is a nice change of pace from what has become pretty common place for most shooters this past generation.

That being said my only real issue is the game is too easy. Not enough challenge to it. I understand why they did it, but I think it might turn out to be more of a negative than a positive in the long run.

If any respawn devs view this, I would suggest an increase to the player count to 8 v 8 or 10 v 10. Increase the titanfall timer by 30 seconds to balance things out. Also, if it's possible to increase the AI difficulty do so. They need to pose a bit more of a threat.

Stuttering is killing my experience in this game.
It's fun but when it starts to stutter it gets annoying.Stuttering is for me the worst thing possible when it comes to PC gaming :/

Has any site come out with a graphics settings guide for which settings tax your system the most? I know this will likely chance with the final release and new GPU drivers but I was just interested.

Well can conform with a 120hz monitor with v-sync on i do get around 120-100fps. That is odd but it works.

I turned it off and it was stuttering like hell for me, had to turn it right back on.

anyways I finally got a Stryder card...oh god its special ability is infinite dashing. It's hilarious. It is quite fragile but comes with 3 dashes by default and can use the same weapons and loadout as the atlas. It seems like it spawned with the loadout of my usual atlas, which makes sense I guess.

Gunplay feels extremely satisfying in here. Been playing a with a DS4 and I love it, however most of the time my team is absolute dogshit.

My PC seems to be having trouble keeping a rock solid frame rate, but I have a sync turned off and my HDD is dying so both of those could be factors there.

What kind of rigs are you guys running this on if you're not on a Xone? I need a GPU

I'm beginning to think Battlefield has ruined every other FPS for me. Killzone, CoD, Titanfall, etc etc... just don't feel all that fun anymore. Other than Rainbow Six and stealth type shooters, all run and gunners are just meh. I do still love Mw2, but Titanfall ain't doing it for me.

Amazingly enough, the tensest moment in a match of attrition is at the very end when everyone is rushing to the evacuation point. The game goes in that instant from a standard DM to last man-standing and the timer has everyone throwing away caution still. I love it.

notes after a couple hours of play:

Move. Move. Move. The moment I stopped trying to play this like a stop & pop, and took to running like a crackhead was the moment I became a G--full-stop. Mobility is king, and the shotty/cloak combo its queen--which may be a little OP at the moment, to be honest, as much as I love it. The complaints surrounding the smart pistol also stem from those trying to play this like a Battlefield, I've found; run, jump, fly, etc, and you will not get locked on. Simple as that.

I5 3570k @ 4.4 & HD7950 / 1080p / Insane textures (that 3gb vram is looking like a godsend right now) / High everything/ Max AA nets me 60--usually. I'm probably going to have to drop the AA a bit, as it begins to shit itself some when there's a war of titans in view.

My top 3 moments thus far:

- Playing Last Titan Standing and yanking the last pilot out of his Titan and tossing him like garbage to win the match.

- Fighting a guy that ejects out of his Titan and punching him out of midair into a bloody mist

- Jumping out of my Titan and putting him in guard mode while I capture a point, hearing him owning a few people, and then jumping off the building into my Titan by having him catch me in midair and put me back into the cockpit.

So good!

Thank you, it's working! Now I need to calibrate it. Left it on absolute minimum settings the last time.

I don't think I ever had a problem like this before. Looks like next time I'll neeed to check if other games had this issue as well, lol.

I will say it's pilot mode gunplay and movement feels better than CoD Ghosts and definitely better than BF4s, I'd love a pilot only mode for when I don't feel like dealing with mechs.

Also, I think the way evac is set up totally fucking blows. Titans can just camp out by the evac before it gets there and shoot the shit out of it when it arrives. Completely unfair and doesn't help out the losing team in any way. If anything the winning team should get less advantages, not more. Needs rethinking.

I feel the opposite. Gunning down the stragglers is meant to be your reward for winning. If they can pull it out and escape, it's basically a fuck-you to the winners. Both sides get a chance to have some fun, and the losing team are the underdogs, as it should be.

Anyone else feel attrition goes by way to fast? Im hoping maybe they make the limit higher, because a few of the matches ive been in have been extremely short.

Also, maybe make the dropships have countermeasures or higher damage intake. Lots of games end with the winning team (who know they are about to win) running to the extraction point before its time and camping it and just obliterating the evac ship asap.

I am liking the beta but not loving it.
+ parkour fastpaced movement.
+levels and unlocks dont make the game dibalanced.
+ perfect balance between onfoot and titans

- No recoil. Like literally zero
- stupid ai bots which add nothing to the game play stupid distraction coming in the way of objective
- literally zero team play required. Every body can be a loan wolf

It's Evac, you've already lost the game at that point anyway.

It's almost like it's a Call of Duty game!

No problem, maybe it's the same issue with the people here running a 650/750m but reporting stuttering.

Usually Steam allocates the right GPU, but it doesn't look as though that's the case with Origin (TellTale as well I've found) so could be worth checking those games again.

The NPC banter is kinda funny "Jetpack! Why don't have I have a JetPack?" and this buddy goes "I don't even have a buttflap." Then they both got exploded.

If you play in the Last Titan Standing mode, you can't lone wolf. You need numbers in order to survive in that mode.

I understand this, but for me, Titanfall is ruining every other FPS.

I really wish that I didn't buy the Premium for BF4 now, because I'll probably rarely go back to it.

Yep this is going to be huge for Xbox One absolutely love it. Nothing quite like it and I can't wait to see how this game and franchise will evolve.

Ditto, didn't touch BF4 after release and if i do go play BF4 now i want to double jump and wall run.

The Beta has proven that they've built a great canvas for multiplayer, but this game is going to live and die by its gametypes. There needs to be a TF2 style payload mode. That would be amazingly boss.

That's the whole point. The winning team's goal is to kill whoever the fuck is left and shoot down the evac if they can before it leaves. It's meant to be unfair, if you're on the losing team, you've already loss.

Biggest purchasing regreat in a long time. I should have known that I'd be let down by Battlefield 4... but I wanted to believe.

I feel like itd be a solid game if they made better maps and fixed their glitches.

Titanfall has been fun so far. I only played a little. Seems like these days, you either get really pretty or really fun, but not both.
