Titanfall Beta (PC/Xbone) Impressions (No Key Begging/Trading or I will ban you!)

HOLY SHIT :O This plays perfect on my PC I'm really impressed... Was thinking it would play like cod with mechs... It really has its own feel... Respawn knows what they are doing... really fun game the gun play is amazing...
Was surprised it even downloaded fast.. it didn't even tickle my R5780.. on 13.1 drivers....
Man what do what do..... really fun but not sure about dropping 60 bones on this. I really hate Origin too. :/ But I will of course just add it to steam and pretend its not there lol :P

Shoot both of them! Pretty simple. Both are enemies, both benefit you when you kill them so why not shoot them when you see them?

If I'm faced with AI and a pilot in the same vicinity I'm gonna kill the pilot first. I don't know how many times I've wasted my attention on a grunt while an enemy pilot killed me.

Textures look horrible on anything but Insane. Fully maxed out it looks comparable to CoD4 from 2007, but luckily that doesn't matter. The game is fun but I definitely prefer the city map over the other because there's more opportunity for wall running. I hope the other maps are like that. The thing I've noticed with this game is everything is designed to seemingly make you feel good even if you're getting raped. Plenty of minions for free kills, ejecting from a destroyed a Titan is fun, escaping to a drop ship for a last effort to get some points is fun. This is why I can see this game being such a big hit, because it really doesn't punish you for failing. If you're doing shit, you still feel pretty bad ass and if you're doing good, well you feel even more like a bad ass. It doesn't feel revolutionary, but just like the next evolution of CoD mixed with the speed of an arena shooter. I'll definitely buy it.

You guys are using the Smart Pistol? Come on now.

My thoughts exactly. Will never use the smart pistol, even though I hear it's not as broken/easy as it seems. Just against my nature.

Overall I'm having a blast and that's what video games are about for me. Even with the limited maps and load-outs available in the Beta. Haven't quite mastered wall-running yet but otherwise getting the hang of it. Finally getting good at the rodeo too, which is real fun.

Also I heard there is a burn card that lets you use one of the other Titan classes, the Stryder. Would love to give that a whirl.

had a pretty great round of Attrition earlier. Couldn't play for piss after that though but it's a shit tonne of fun regardless.

Also I agree with people that the smart pistol is cheap and noobish. Seeing that you're killed by it on the kill feed is embarrassing cos people just rush into rooms and spam it without even being near you

Holy shit, this game is so addictive. It's "just one more round" again and again. It's probably my favourite FPS, and I'm not a big fan of this genre.

Maybe that's why I like TF so much.

So has anyone tested just killing grunts and when you get a Titan just putting it on auto pilot and seeing how the match ends up?

So today I've maxed my levels on both Xbone and PC. I have to say now after all this time that yea the xbone version does run a bit better. The PC version seems somewhat glitchier. Both play damn amazing though.

I have started to run into more of the pistol usage and am starting to lean toward it needing something done. It's not as bad as others make it out to be though. It seems those using it tend to hide around and wait till you engage with other players, titans, etc. Overall though I still think this game is going to be amazing without a doubt. Even with it's flaws. I have played for hours straight today and just don't get bored at all. Even when getting my ass handed to me which is often.

Yeah, after about 7 or so hours of playing.. I don't think bots should count towards points in Attrition. If anything, they should be worth half of what they are now.

Regardless, I prefer playing Domination. Good fun.

Probably going to be going against the popular opinion, but after a few hours on the PC tonight, I don't think i'll go back to this.

I'm not new to FPS games. I've played a lot of Team Fortress 2 and Counter Strike and hell, even in its day, i'd have been caught playing 20 hour sessions of Unreal Tournament and even going back to Quake 2. This to me just seems to be missing something. I can't quite place it, but I just didnt find it as fun as I was expecting it to be.

It's just not striking a chord with me. It's not bad, but I dont think its living up to the hype it's got. Or maybe thats the problem, all the hype is making me expect something it can't possibly live up to.

really? I need to practice more.

Yup. Chaining wall runs gets you massive speed. There is stim on top of it that makes you even faster but it isn't being used there, so imagine it on top of that, lol.

Finally got an ogre titan

Good thing those cards are so rare. Getting a titan at the beginning of a match is nuts

Damn, didn't even think of the other titans having their own slew of animations for boarding.

Ogre looks pretty fun, shield overcharge makes boarding it important to bypass to health so smoke would be really strong on it.

I love how when you are getting rodeo'd and hop out, your Titan bends down so that the enemy on it is in the perfect position for you to blast him/her. A nice touch.

Also, has anyone heard of or had issues on Xbox One not being able to connect to the beta? I heard plenty about PC, but now a friend who just went out and got the console is having trouble connecting to the beta, can't even get past the main menu. Is this a known issue? Any fix?

The parkouring can really save your ass. At one point I was cornered by a Titan, but because I was close to a wall I just wall runned and jumped on top of the mech and destroyed it with my amped up LMG (which btw is awesome in rodeo).

Said it before but the farming of the grunts that spawn out is great - Never thought that a FPS moba style game with mechs would be this good. Wondering if that was meant to be the reason and it was structured after those games or if it was a by product of making AI backup hard to work with in general.

I'm starting to really hit my stride. Just got like 1300 points in a hardpoint match. Got top spot/mvp whatever. Felt good. I'm really really really really liking this. I can't wait to see what type of gamemodes are in the final version.

So yep. Loving it. Feels awesome jumping from rooftop to rooftop. Titan combat is coming a little harder to me but now that I've unlocked some more options, I feel like I've found a good kit for my playstyle. The only really complaints I have are:

1] I wish sprinting or something let you auto mount low ledges. Too many times I've tried jumping out a window and ended up either not making it through because I'm jumping too high or wall running.

2] I wish your tactical timer was more obvious when it recharges. I the heat of combat (specifically in a Titan), I have a hard time seeing if it's actually off cool down without taking too much attention away from combat.

Other than that, I'm loving it. Was playing for hours and only stopped to let my GF watch TV.
