Hope the QTE are kept to a minimum.
As long as it promptless, that's fine.
From all the "behind the scenes" gossip @ Sony, this game seems to be placed right under Naughty Dog's shadow.
"It's like Uncharted 2!" etc. This end-of-embargo needs to define The Order on its own strengths and not pair it up against Naughty Dog or else this game will get the incorrect kind of hype.
Are they gonna produce decent gamelore like they did for Killzone, I enjoyed it as much as the game. The knights are centuries old (is that right?)
Evidently there are two videos tomorrow, one trailer and one of gameplay.
It's just that I don't understand why people are hyped for something we know nothing about.
A story trailer and a few screenshots of empty corridors are what get people excited for games these days? Plus the press hypes games whether they deserve the hype or not.
Looked up what they did and all I saw were a few PSP games. I think I heard some of its members worked on Syphon Filter but I never played those games.
I'm just surprised by how big the hype for this game is, that's all. I guess it helps that it's one of the first games built from the grounds-up for next-gen.
Ha, Ok. Noted
No health regeneration in this game.
Trying to stay calm about this game, but moreso than I:SS I think this will be the PS4's first proper 'Here's what we can do with this new box of yours'...like this was back in the day
But what if the console can't scale the output correctly end you'll end up with a res of 1920x1080 with black borders on each side?Got my new TV ready just in time for the trailer.

Lol, I don't get it. What did he do wrong? :O

Like I said, sounds cool but to me its all about how its presented. Right now GOWA has the crown for most seemless, "What, I'm still actively in control?!?" QTE so far.Nice, I like that idea instead of QTE in the traditional sense. Thanks for pointing that out.
in blim we trust.Password changed, i think gaf wrecking the server/site was the last straw. I just hope Sony allows us to download the footage directly.
Very hyped, but trying to keep my expectations in check. It's not the second coming, and the more hyped it is, the easier it is to be disappointed.
Also, I guarantee that, no matter how incredible the graphics are, there will be at least one person who says something like "they cut twenty percent of the screen space off FOR THIS?!" The rule is that, if the game is exclusive to a platform, people will somehow be disappointed by the graphics. I'm sure it will be the same here.

Press the touchpad to send morse code messages?! Clever as fuck!

Was that that Wind Waker thread? God damn that place was a graveyard. So excited. This game is at the top of my list of games this year. I can't wait to know more about it
He should've said more. I strongly disagree because . . .
Gaf doesn't like short answers, like that one thread where everybody got banned for just saying "No"

As opposed to the trigger QTE cutscene, fail, and start the same animations over again?GOWA's punchout-style QTE replacements were fun for about 5 seconds and once the novelty wore off they were just a flow-stopping drag. The animations weren't even polished enough to make sitting through them worth it.
Because The Order is a shooter and not a melee game, hopefully a similar implementation won't be as much of an interruption, but I'm still skeptical of showy events that slow the action. They have high potential to become tedious.

They were seemless and simple, I dont see how any thing is wrong about that and much prefer that to what the series had brought to the table before.
Besides, if you are striving to reach the pinnacle of cinematic presentation than why include prompts? Or eve a HUD? It seems to defeat the whole purpose.
For example, although I certainly prefer UC3 to UC2 overall, I liked that UC2 slowed down movements for counters without using a prompt instead. It's all about the small things...
I often dont fail them either, but it certainly doesn't change the fact most QTEs are cutscenes running on a loop.I don't have that problem because I almost never fail them. There's basically one QTE in the entire series which is actually difficult, and that's the ending cinematic against Zeus in GOW2. The rest are easy boss-killing finishers or optional enemy finishers. And no, I don't really have a problem with having to try them again because at least then I'm in full control of my character and engaged in the core combat mechanics.
The problem with the promptless ones is that even when you succeed it's still a pace-killing drag after you've seen it a couple of times. It's not challenging in the least, so once you've seen it and enjoyed it visually a couple of times, that's basically the end of its value.
Also, the lack of prompts DOESN'T make it more cinematic except in the most superficial way (i.e. lack of HUD elements) because in practice it actually locks the camera in place and limits your character's movements to a rigid set of simple animations. The button prompt QTEs with the camera flying all over the place are far more cinematic.
t's not just me who's been up to exciting video games related gubbins either; Rob Crossley has been to see PS4 exclusive The Order: 1886 and has things to say about it (accompanied by brand new footage) on Tuesday. That is looking very special indeed.
Eh, it's kind of sad when you see a junior perma'd for making a comment like that, but I can understand why it happens. One/two word posts like 'No.' or 'lol no' in response to the OP in a thread about an opinion or one asking for an opinion are generally stupid, basic responses that contribute absolutely nothing to the discussion at hand. If they were allowed threads would go absolutely nowhere and hardly any meaningful discussion would be made, hence why people get banned for doing it. There have been some crazy graveyard threads recently where practically entire pages of posters have been banned over that sort of stuff.Ouch. GAF be harsh lol.
For how long is this ban?

And I think shinobi will be back in a few days. There's definitely been notably less threads posted per day without him here![]()
It's just 24-hour clock. Surely it's commonly used worldwide?!
I guess it's down to the context of the thread. It's more understandable seeing people getting banned for a snarky one word response in a thread where the OP is giving an opinion (even if it is unfavourable) than it is in the example you're giving.I'm not sure how that's so different than these recent resolution or framerate threads where you'll see many posts just saying "megaton" or "here we go".
My report is all set to go for tomorrow morning. 1,300+ words, gameplay footage, new trailer, and I think 20 screenshots. I transcribed a lot of what Ru from Ready at Dawn said during our session.

Lovely jubbly. But if "two videos" and "some gameplay bits" are different things, then what's being shown in the former, cut-scenes I presume?
