Twitch Plays Pokemon Thread 2 - Don't Forget: You're here forever

About the musical differences between Gen 4 and Gen 5, wasn't there a change in like composers or whatever after Gen ? I mean, I'm not good at analyzing music but I seem to notice a significant difference in style between the Gen 2-4 music and the Gen 5-6 music.

They keep adding people.
- Gen 1 is the work of Junichi Masuda.
- Gen 2 brought in Go Ichinose.
- Gen 3 added Morikazu Aoki and saw Masuda's role shrink almost entirely to battle themes, which carried on into the future.
- Gen 4 largely dropped Aoki for Hitomi Sato and picked up Shota Kageyama for HG/SS, mostly as an arranger.
- Gen 5 promoted Kageyama to major composer and brought in Minako Adachi for some new jingles.
- Gen 6 promoted Adachi to major composer, and Ichinose dropped off the face of the planet.

tl;dr Masuda's struggling to come up with new battle themes after twenty years and the other people writing the music these days all date to the DS. It'd be more surprising if the style hadn't changed.

One could say it's the anarchists trying to take the ball and go home because they can't get their way, if one is going to make child analogies. :P

The funny thing is that uniform following of a cause like start9 seems pretty much the opposite of chaotic anarchy, and the people who presumably wanted democracy are more chaotic than the others.

They should switch the labels around just because -- pidgeot gets democracy, flareon gets anarchy, labels switched in chat, but leave the game the same and see how people react.
Your mistake is comparing something that has actual consequence and comparing it to something that has zero. The reason government exists is to govern, Twitch Plays Pokemon exists to entertain. It's not about getting things done, it's about the journey.

Start9 is a protest vote against people who are trying to hijack what made the game fun in the first place in order to use the dull George Lucased democracy mode when it hasn't even proved to be necessary yet. It will probably be needed for the Safari Zone, but at least let people try playing the game the way that has been fun for them since the beginning first.

I still love you Bigrat

it does?
I'm pretty sure this exists to crush dreams

I suggest the problem with your analysis is that you are imposing your own idea of fun, entertainment, and/or what you want to see on other people, effectively saying that even if a majority wants something else, you should be given what you want, and given it what you want before the others get a chance.

The streamer designed it so that the start9 spam will quickly switch back to anarchy anyway, so that actually getting to democracy or doing anything is very difficult. If anything, it would seem the streamer also wants what you want.

Ultimately it's a land of scripts and trolls where no one is happy when they don't get their way, so I suppose all is fair in love and pokemon. Until Pidgeot is released, which I will be sad about. :(

Does the actual death heal you, or does it return you to life with only one pokemon?

Wow chat is super coordinated. They can heal reliably now.

The chat is incredibly efficient when it wants to be/ with enough practice at a task. Hell unless we hit a huge lag wall or there's a genuine struggle going on we're even usually efficient at the pc now. If money were not a factor we could eventually get through the safari zone in anarchy mode with the step limit on. Might take a couple days and we'd probably have a few dig incidents but a determined mob can be incredibly coordinated.

This is a crazy social experiment. Seeing if tens of thousands of anonymous people can work together to control a game to the end is just great. Then there are the people that just want to watch the world burn which make it all the more exciting.

Anarchy is the way the stream has been since the beginning. Democracy was added in later and has been used, so don't pretend that it hasn't been given a chance. It was used to get through the Team Rocket maze and to retrieve the Sliph Scope, and in both cases it robbed reaching both goals of any sense of accomplishment. Democracy mode is like watching an idiot doing a let's play Pokemon Red on horse tranquilizers. If that is fun for you, whip out your copy of Pokemon Red and take some ketamine.

He means it doesn't get a chance now because of Start9. And again you're assuming that it robs everyone of achievement or accomplishment.

We would never have fought Giovanni without democracy, which is basically the highlight of the entire stream so far.
