Well Jessica Smith is into the finals of the ladies 1000m now. Best medal chance for us all olympics.

The only American to make a final in an individual event. Is it the same governing body for speed skating and short track in the US? They will have to do a postmortem here to what went wrong in these games.

Christie was seen clearly attacking the body of the same Chinese girl a little earlier. Both were playing wild and dirty.

Clearly taken out but the referees don't seem to give a fuck.

The commentator here, who's a former short-track champion, predicted she would be DQed. She was in the wrong.

You can't just stay back and bulldoze your way to the front in the last two laps. That's what she does every time.

It's bullshit, she never touched the girl in front. She's the World Champion in the 1500m, 1000m so it's not like she's never raced before is not exactly a novice.

The replay was pretty clear there, the chinese racer took her out. She may have touched the chinese racer the corner before but she was in front of the chinese rider when the chinese rider fell which was well after the touch. It's bullshit.

She may have went out of bounds earilier on and that's why she's been dq'd it's almost certainly for that bullshit when the Chinese rider fell over

She was ahead of the Chinese girl who then decided to take her out. She overtook on the outside away from the others too.

Exactly, if you think that's unclean then you're basically ruling out overtaking in the entire sport. Unless she's stepped out of the track the lap before that's a bizarre decision.

Shiffrin 1st, Schild 2nd, Zettel 3rd

Schild 1st would have been a fitting end to her career, though still take that Austrian domination.
Shiffrin's cool though

Shim's moves are more elegant and mindblowing than any other st skater, male or female. Only bronze here though and gold for her team mate Park.

That was the last chance unless I'm mistaken? This is actually a disaster for the US team, going to be a lot of drama and intrigue in the next few months I think

There's still the relay. USA is the favorite but I guess Russia will win with An as the anchor.

The brits on Twitter are hilarious. This isn't some conspiracy to keep DQ'ing her. Christie needs to re-evaluate her training and skills and figure out why she keeps getting penalized. There are multiple judges from every country.

I want her to stick with it, if she medals in the next Olympics I expect her to be grinning from ear to ear.

It's in Korea though and the Koreans will probably still hate her in four years time.

I don't think it's a conspiracy against her or anything, but it is unfortunate and can't help but feel for her.

She's world champion at 1000 and 1500 she's not some novice, it's hardly her first time racing. I'm still waiting for someone to definitively say why she was dq'd in that race and given why she was dq'd in the 500 I don't really see how both can be valid.

I'm British, but I can't help but feel Christie's pretty much caused all her own problems herself.

This third DQ seems a bit dodgy, but she did clearly shove the Chinese skater on the straight. I like to think the judges know a bit more about the rules of speed skating than us casual Olympic TV viewers.
