I think it's important how you announce your game and gameplay, and I think The Order 1886 failed that.
The better option, in my mind, would have been to shut up about the game before you have a good segment of gameplay to show off.
Keep quite? As in don't even have a teaser to show off?... Since your thread still states that as a poor showing (Halo and SO)
Of course the game is scheduled for 2014 so having an announcement in 2013 to gain awareness proves to be a standard practice in the industry
They instead could of showed of some non in-engine based teaser bits leading to a in-engine video debut at December like TLOU and then later debut gameplay at E3 the following year with maybe a snippet of a closed off presentation to a portion of the press mid way to E3 like how ND handled TLOU
but there is a problem to that method since unlike TLOU showing off their in engine debut in December at the VGAs (like The Orders E3 Trailer) last years VGX awards where a low budget sub-par train wreak which most publishers ran away from so having something like a debut for your game would of not been as satisfactory...
Still... the reason of my prior post is that people are jumping upon this game for not showing enough stuff when a lot of other said games releasing around this year are doing the same
and YES people kept on complaining for them to show us something so keeping it bottled up was indeed hard for RAD when you have constant people angrily complaining that they are not showing anything
