Breaks in between new eps due to the Olympics is most responsible for the drop. Even Arrow, which many on the forum prefer to SHIELD, saw it's own season low.

SHIELD is still very likely getting a S2 and has plenty opportunity to gain viewers in the off season if S1 moves to Netflix. People will binge watch through eps they don't like on Netflix and if there's enough of a grab, they'll continue watching the show when it goes live. This is actually exactly what happened with Arrow, where S1 being on Netflix allowed viewers to push through the eps they didn't like and get to the action without waiting on the show week to week to progress. If SHIELD's change of direction continues forward, it could have a similar trajectory of steady improvement in S2, similar to what Arrow has done.

Just watched the last episode. Much better than the usual. McCreary was partially unshackled here which added to my enjoyment of the episode.

And that's totally some dead Kree. Though I'm not sure how its blood has such powerful regenerative properties. It obviously isn't a regular, boring Kree. And god I hope Skye isn't Ms Marvel. Carol Danvers is a longtime Avenger and deserves to be Ms Marvel in the MCU.

But I like the Ultra-girl theory though. Makes much more sense and could tie in with the whole "we have no idea wtf she is" plotline

She also hacked into SHIELD systems like it was a 6 piece puzzle, so she is much more than a trainee. She is potentially a very important asset.

Oh, and yeah, she is part of the team, one that went far out of her way to save members the team too.

According to some interviews all Mutants are X-men for the purpose of the rights. Special deals were made for the Twins. Cases like Namor where they were introduced before mutants are separate.

Why are you assuming the guards were good? We know they weren't SHIELD and there's no other "good" agency that we know of that rivals SHIELD's knowledge and tech.. and whoever that facility belongs to, seems as if their knowledge and tech surpasses SHIELD's.

I mean they're either some blackbox segment of the gov't that's somehow higher security level than SHIELD or they're ambiguously neutral.. which means they could be evil or good at any point in time, it would just depend on their client... or they're bad and Fury worked out some kind deal.

And there's no way that people who have positions guarding a site like that have any family that they go home to. There's no way they could be trusted to guard that kind of installation if they had any weaknesses to be leveraged.

SHIELD is not a superhero team. They are not to trying to be heroes, they are a force that tries to protect the world at any cost. They will lie, steal, betray and kill in order to maintain peace. They are not evil, but will commit what they deem to be necessary evils. The question of whether the ends justify the means is why Skye was hesitant to trust them, and is what I assume Captain America 2: Legends Parachute Once is about. So killing two guards who got in the way of saving a team member's life isn't out of the ordinary.

I mean, they could have just used the Night-Night Gun. But that would have required writing a happy ending for the guards, which is clearly too much work. Or required them to interrogate them to find out who they are and what that place really is, which is obviously a plot point. So basically they had to die due to lazy writing.

So then you admit that the guards knew what they were signing up for and have responsibility over the jobs chosen, unless shown otherwise. Coulson and co. clearly stated they were friendlies, but that if shot at they would defend themselves. The guards knew what they were in for, while Coulson and his team did not. Thus, the death of the guards was merely out of self-defense, not intent of murder.

And while we're making up stories about how these guards who are defending an ultra secret if-anyone-finds-out-about-this-base-they-need-to-be-erased-off-the-earth base that is sucking the life force out of an alien is otherwise living a normal life with a family at home as you imply, then I think the problem is with you, not the show. I will criticize the show and have done so many times, but this is not a big flaw or even a flaw at all.

Don't know why I'm even arguing over this, I'm pretty sure you're just trying to rustle us up.

I mean... they had no idea who was in the facility or how many of them were there until after both guards were critically injured, we have no idea how far ahead the night night gun ammo is manufactured (I'd assume not very far considering the team was shocked to find that the enemies they faced last episode have a variation of the same thing), and they were racing the clock to save Skye and THEN to gtfo before the facility blew up...

But sure.. the writing was "lazy" even though it's actually much easier to write convenience like no one dying and people taken into custody spilling all the pertinent info quickly enough that you can save the dying team member with time to spare....

I think people seeing coulson kill the 2 guards as wrong is perfectly valid given the way they portrayed the team throughout the season. They are the "good guys" of shield. They don't do these kind of things.

They went in to save Skye, who is not only like family but also an important 084, and went into the Guest House not knowing what to expect and being extremely extremely polite about it. Why do they "clearly have ties" to SHIELD exactly? Everything about the episode showed that the facility isn't under the control of SHIELD. I mean.. they could be allies... but allies are easily enemies given circumstance.

Edit: To be specific.. they weren't guarding SHIELD stuff at all to our knowledge. Literally everything about the facility was unknown except it's location and code name and only Fury was high enough security level to know that.
