Parappa the rapper born and raised
in the fan group was where I spent most of my days
chillin out maxin, not giving a fuck
or asking my fans to give me five bucks

When a couple of guys who I owed money to
Started making trouble in my facebook group
I got in one little fight and Gaf got mad
They said "give back the money 'cause stealing is bad"

Just read up on the blog. Assuming that everything posted there is as complete and accurate as possible (and I don't see a reason why it wouldn't be), it seems that Dredd Fox and his Facebook fanbase are utterly incapable of handling intelligent discourse.

I'd recommend filing a small claims lawsuit and get your money back. As entertaining as the blog was to read, you probably could have gotten this resolved legally by now.

Not that I think what Foxx did was OK, I'm just floored that this is still going. It's only $100. Flame away.

For some people $100 is a whole lot of money man. I remember when I was in college and literally surviving on about $25 a week.

I'm glad the guy is getting called out. This whole situation is pretty shameful. Still, OP, your $100 was worth it for this much entertainment, haha.

Just checked Foxx's facebook and its still pretty hilariously brutal over there. Unfortunately after all this I suspect that Camjo is going to get two tracks on the diss record

I usually try not to meddle in other people's affairs, but I just had to post something on his facebook page. Such a shitty attitude, regardless of whether he's stolen the money or not. And judging by everything I've read, he does have the money.

Yup. OP you'll NEVER work in is town!! Forget your resume. Forget that degree you're going to school for which may or may not have ANYTHING to do with making business deals. Forget your interview skills. One Google search will expose the fact that you got conned out of $100 when you were 18, got mad, and tried to do something about it. No one in any line of work will ever relate to that. Your job will probably just go to Dredd Foxx as he looks so good in all of this, proving himself to be a shrewd businessman. Coffee is for closers.

Holy god I almost seized up with laughter at this.

Man, the rap battles in this thread have been insane. Reminds me that I need to find and listen to some good rap. Not least because now I want to try it...

You missed some raps, verbal attacks, dreds wack talkin smack to his fan, derserves a slap in the head, dablacknerds facts gettin laughs instead, then crashbfan crashed the thread and got banned, turns out hes a troll with a plan on a roll to slam cam for takin a stand.

Love when the community gives a jerk his comeuppance. Dredd reminds me of Dick Van Dyke stealin' that kid's tuppence. Ridin' the front page, this thread is poppin' like Mary, Dredd acts like he's Mozart but he ain't even Salieri.

These ones crept up on me, damn my predisposition to read straight-formatted text as prose.
I guess if 15 of us or so donated $5 to the OP, we could pay back his loss. It is a small price to pay for the price of admission to this thread, an all time great.

Anyone else up for this? Small price to pay indeed. Cheered me up no end after a crappy Sunday.

In all, fair play in fairness to Camjo-Z for putting this all online in an attempt to show up a dodgy operator. Glad to see that most people are on his side, I got worried when I read the fan comments in the screenshots.

Wait, are you sure it's actually Dredd Dog that's running his fan site ? A lot of times a fan will create the page and even pretend to be the actual person.

The part where he said he'll need money to record his voice, and he said send 50, 75, or even 100. What ? How much does it cost? Shady.

Also, can he legally record unlicensed PaRappa cartoons ?

what i find shady is that he would even ask for 50/100$.

I mean, it's such a ridiculously low amount of money for a V/A, what are 100$ for exactly ?

if he's a professional he should either ask for a lot more than that or just do it for free.

Got to say, that for someone that preaches rastafari, peace and love, and keeping it real, he is sure one fucked up dude, raging, hateful and up in an ego cloud.

The hypocrisy is staggering.

His ability to record the Parappa voice would depend largely on the contract he has with Sony. Usually, those contracts are pretty airtight, so I imagine he's not legally allowed to do that voice for anything outside of the game... but then, it's been so long since Parappa was a thing that who knows anymore? I don't know the temporal scope of the average VA contract.

As for Cam's ability to make an unlicensed Parappa cartoon... well, that's something that's probably protected by 17 USC 107 (fair use). Its a non-commercial, fan creation that's doing nothing to diminish the potential market for Parappa products.

Ahem:

That sucka Dred Foxx just breached his precious Sony contract
Now judge's gavel comin' down on him with megaton impact

And Cam's phony-ass cartoon is still protected by the fair use
While Dred's in a prison shower gulpin' down dat man juice

LMAO I love this thread. Sucks that its on the OP losing that $100.

I don't know, it just seems extremely shady to me.

How does anyone know this guy is actually Dred Foxx ? I can create an Official ( insert any barely-a-celebrity name here ) Fan Page right now and pretend to be him/her.

If I were a VoiceOver actor ( I use the term actor extremely loosely in this context) and some random person on the internet asked me to do a VoiceOver, there's no way in hell I'd do it. You don't know what they're actually going to do with it. It could be for an innocent little fan cartoon, or it could be used to hock some new unnoficial merchandise. You never know.

Loved your rap BTW. Hands down best in thread (BIT).

This isn't actually a Dred Foxx fan page we're dealing with here, it's a regular facebook profile. The guy's got a lot of photos up so it's either him or someone who knows him personally.

Also I'm gonna give up trying to out-rhyme Chacranajxy.

Sigh.

I have lurked for years and even when I got an account I never post..hell I barely log in most of the time but I wanted to really comment on this situation to give a lot of you some perspective from a person who owns a business and hires people. I worked in Television/Film and Broadcast Production for years before starting my own business and trying to parlay that into gaming. I have written many contracts, had many verbal agreements, handshake agreements etc etc.I want to explain my candid thoughts from reading this and why this is devastating to only OP.

Here is a fact. This will not affect the voice actor at all. Why? Because we are not 12 years old and we dont live in fictional Disneyland where all good people have good things happen to them and bad people get punished. He has already been working in the field for years, he already has a client list, a contact list and a group of people who have seen and liked his work enough to pay for it. The people who work with him have known for years that he is probably an asshole and they accepted and still work with him because skill trumps personality. Hell we all have known Charlie Sheen was an asshole in the decades ago and yet he still gets work doesnt it? There are millions of horrid people who will continue to work every day.

One of my mentors said this to me when I was first starting out in TV...."Be careful when you decide to drag someones name through the mud because its impossible not to get a little dirty yourself."

I am not saying that OP isnt correct I am saying the way in which he has gone about it has only hurt him and you have to be smarter about these things. As an employer how in the hell could I hire you for any job at my company? (Clearly not my real company..I am not saying my company is great or desirable I am just taking that perceptive for the sake of this topic) So you come into my office for a job interview and this is what I see and this is gonna sound harsh and I am sorry for that but I do want to do you the favor of what I really think as someone who hires people.

1. A person so incompetent of business decisions that they tried to make one over facebook. (Seriously facebook?)

2. A person who is so incompetent at business relations and account management that they couldnt close a deal on $100. Its a 100 dollars? I give my interns 100 bucks for gas money. How in the world could I ever trust you to secure a deal for $1,000? $5,000? $10,000? Does most of the money you get vanish into the ether with nothing to show for it?

3. This is the most important as business is always changing and you need to be able to adapt and handle it in a professional manner. This town crier act has just made you into toxic waste. How could I ever trust you to work with any client, be in any meeting or give you any information when at the drop of a hat you will flip out so far of the rails that you go screaming through the streets? Like I said and trust me I am far from rich or super successful but as a business owner I piss out a hundred bucks virtually everyday. You basically are trying to shame a guy for the equivalent of a ink cartage.

For Christ sake, depending on what state you live in it would cost you up to half of that to file in small claims to get it back. Its like finding a spider in your room so you go get a flamethrower and burn down the house. I am not saying that you shouldnt pursue this..actually I am saying that...its really not worth it. As they say you are not a professional until someone owes you money. Treat this as a learning experience and move on. If that is not enough there are ways to go about resolve the situation that are much better than what you have chosen.

In my honest opinion (which doesnt mean anything as I am just some random guy on the internet) you have done little to him and made yourself look like a complete and utter babbling buffoon. You might win some internet high fives but these people are not going to be in the interview room backing you up. You are now going to have to explain to future employees why you made so many horrid decision in this situation and convince them to trust you when they know you cant seem to secure even the smallest of deals.

Seriously though, I am really not trying to insult OP, I just wanted to give a perceptive in which his action are really damaging to his own reputation.

It wasn't a "business deal"; it was paying a tiny bit of money for Foxx's services so he could contribute some work for a not-for-profit fan project. It was an 18 year old college kid who made a mistake and naively assumed Foxx was genuine and trustworthy. If you would really hold this against him then I think you sound like a shit employer. Foxx needs to be outed on this and the OP has done nothing wrong except trust in the wrong person.

Fair play to you Camjo-Z, you have displayed the patience of a saint and the erudition of a scholar damned shame you were scammed out of $100 but I hope the wider not-in-the-cult-of-Dred side of the internet supporting you is helping some of that hurt (and that the courts make you whole in a more tangible sense later).

WTF is this Dred guy playing at? There are quite a few folks who have built a modest yet lucrative career out of being notable extras on popular cult shows (let alone the lead) but you only do that by displaying generosity towards your fans and superhuman restraint in disputes with them (not related to this example where Dred straight robbed Camjo-Z but on occasion fan bases can be too demanding). Acting like an entitled jerk simply ensures that no-one is joining that "$20 for an autograph and a picture" queue at the next Con you attend.

Also these rhymes are just too damn hot, damn makes me wish I had a musical/lyrical bone in my body!

LOLLL

Okay, that's the best one so far.

Its a sad day when a fan base gets a bad taste when they had faith then had to listen to what this man say, its a damn shame when the fame goes away and you prey on the lame causing pain for the pay.
I hope he has an epiphany and gets no sympathy after he goes down in history as a piece of shit causing mysery. What he is isnt a mystery, a shit talking symphony living in ignorance blissfully.
A liar, a theif, whos gona hire this weak minded freak whos desire to speak lies deep in shits creek?
ok im done

But what an exit.

If this guy is getting annihilated on his Facebook page right now then jobs a good'un. Scumbag. I hope my mind doesn't drift to thoughts of him too often the next time I pop in PaRappa the Rapper for another playthrough.

Just sent Dred a personal message over FB and posted a few comments on his posts. Even though i have no personal stake in this situation, this jackass definitely has all this coming to him, I hope this ruins any future work in gaming he might get (doubtful he gets much work anymore anyways).

As others said, $100 isn't a lot (except for a struggling college student) but it's the principle of the matter and the fact Dred tried to bash a guy HE SCAMMED by using his blind followers to his advantage. That is one thing that pisses me off more than anything in this world. Using fame to cover up bad behavior and getting away with it.

Thanks for posting all the evidence OP, even if you never get the money back (but i hope you do) at least you can rest easy knowing a jackass got served justice. I hope he realizes his reputation being ruined wasn't worth scamming a fan for $100.

Look at it this way, all he did was the voice, parappa the rapper was a good game thanks to the developers, not some egotistical prick they got to say the lines. Won't affect my enjoyment of the game.

I wouldn't let this Dred guy hurt anyone's love for Parappa.

The real stars behind Parappa are Rodney Greenblat (the artist who drew all the characters) and Masaya Matsuura (the creator of Parappa).

Voice actors like Dred can be replaced any day of the week. Earlier in this thread I mentioned MC Chris as a good replacement. He was a voice on many Adult Swim shows like Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Space Ghost Coast to Coast, and Sealab 2021. He has a high pitched voice, he's a hardcore gamer, and he's a rapper who has released over ten albums.
