Knowing what my parents and their siblings had to go through as what they've always portrayed to me as standard parenting operating procedure of the 1960s, Don is ahead of the pack just by virtue of refusing to hit his kids. And to your second point, who is?
Ugh the 70's, miss the badass 60's suits already.
Wasn't he ready to abandon his kids in the first season after Pete discovered his identity? Don isn't as bad as Walter White, but he's a pretty bad person.
Everyone is too good for Don. He's trash.
Elisabeth Moss explains how Peggy Olson has found herself throughout the past six seasons of Mad Men.
Yeah he was, Rachel Menken is the one who asks about his children, because he comes to her wanting to run away, and his response is that he'll send them money.
So... at least he was willing to send them money, but that doesn't change the fact he was basically ready to abandon his kids.
To be fair him running away or considering that wasn't done out of maliciousness but rather because he was scared, but on the other hand he was being selfish and only looking out for himself, so I can understand why people find Don deplorable.
Although I guess maybe Don is getting better based on what happened at the end of S6?
Don does rotten things, but he's not a rotten person at his core. Calling him "abhorrent" or "trash" is very black/white thinking.

For an instant I was absolutely sure that was Lane Pryce behind the car.
That's the biggest version I've seen. I'll keep my eyes peeled. So want this for a wallpaper. Anybody got a bigger version?
Yes, it'll be up March 30th.They announced earlier today that it would be up sometime before the end of the month.
Anyone else a fan of Jim Cutler? He doesn't have a huge role or anything, but for some reason I love hearing him talk.
Promo material and presumably screeners are out with critics. From Tim Goodman:

Just re-watched the druggy episode and this bit of dialogue stood out.His character has a weird vibe, but I like him.
"The road to hell is paved with good intentions."Don actually wants to be a good person. It basically comes to him in a pipe dream, but there's a distant moral core that makes him sympathetic and pretty depressing. He's making steps in the right direction (again) should just be like a celibate teetotaler or something idk.
