prtty much identical

Not a chance. Sokolov was Russian while Skullface is Hungarian.

Glad I wasn't the only one noticing the Medic was voiced by Kiefer.

They hide his face.

He's voiced by Kiefer.

He gets in front of Big Boss when Paz explodes, protecting him.

He has to be the 3rd guy in the hospital. He has to be Ishmael.

Wait, what?! I've watched the credits twice and never even noticed. I knew there was a reason for hiding his face... (And thought he sounded like Kiefer when yelling at Chico to "keep her gut in.") But what could this mean? Why is his face bandaged in The Phantom Pain, if he is indeed Ishmael? Who is he, really, and what role does he play in The Phantom Pain?

Someone posted a link here of the medic's voice in a higher pitch and it sounds exactly like Kiefer

As for the bandages, not sure if it's because it got hit by the explosion after getting in front of BB or some other weird reason.

WOW!! That is huge. MEDIC IS DECOY OCTOPUS!! (Kidding... I think.) But seriously, that's an incredible find. The medic is definitely unlisted in the credits of Ground Zeroes, so something is up!! God, I cannot wait for The Phantom Pain.

I don't buy the medic thing, personally.
"They don't show his face" -> Could really be as simple as them not wanting the camera to stare all that much at the (less detailed/polished) face of a generic character.
"He has Sutherland's voice" -> If you change the pitch, I guess it sounds like him. I've also seen quite a few people saying they had trouble telling the difference between Snake and Kaz, and that was without changing the pitch.
Not sure how you'd justify the medic looking/sounding like Big Boss in the first place.

(As for Ishmael, I'm betting in him not physically existing anyway.)

Who's listed? Are the random soldiers listed as such, for example?

EDIT: Just checked, and there's a list for "soldiers/extras", the medic might very well be in there, for all we know, really.

I'm still going by the Ishmael = Solidus theory. Apparently voiced by Kiefer, and he has a Hebrew name just like David (Solid) and Eli (Obviously Liquid).

Yeah, I know the whole "He's called Ishmael just because of the Moby Dick reference", but I don't buy it.

His character had a bit of facial capture on display. I mean, yeah, you could be right, but they went to a lot of effort to not show his face, you know? Considering every character in the game has a unique face (soldiers included), why hide his?

Because he's not a major player and they don't want to give him too much presence beyond the "we need a specialist in this scene or people might end up wondering if Snake isn't just butchering the hell out of Paz" factor?
The series never spent much time on "regular people"...

Of course, I could be wrong, but I hope not. Sounds like a reaaaaally weird idea to me.

Sooooo, can someone explain to me what I'm supposed to do with this Mother Base mini game? I think I've figured out how to play it for the most part, but why should I use it?

Also, when do I purchase additional struts as opposed to upgrading? I'm assuming there's a ceiling on how far U can upgrade one strut?

Right, and if this wasn't a game that wants to show off the fact that every single entity has a different face, I would agree. You very well could be right, but I think something is up.

Hiding his face is as simple as hiving him wear one of these:

All the awkward angles seem more of a result of the new Cuaron-style cutscenes rather than an attempt to conceal his identity. Much like the usual Hayter switcheroo conspiracies, there isn't much of a point to it. "Oh, this one minor character with two lines 99% of people didn't pay attention to is so important guys". Well, okay.

I think something is indeed up regarding the third wounded person, but I'd rather bet on Chico. Seems a bit harsh to have him go through all this and not give him something to do after that.
I mean, the whole "hey, maybe Punished Snake is really Chico, who was the third wounded person... he'd be twenty-something in 1984, so that could work, right?" sounds far-fetched (yeah, it's a world where Decoy Octopus exists/will exist, but still), but that's still something I could somewhat see happening, especially if Skull Face is to be the main antagonist this time around. Thematically, it would make sense to have Chico eventually face the guy who "made" him (like Solid Snake / Big Boss or Raiden / Solidus). The medic though? And we're working from the idea that he actually already looks and sounds like Big Boss, too?

What's the chances that Kojipro will create new levels and missions throughout the rest of the year until TPP is released?

None I am sure.

0%

But there is a chance we will get the Xbox Raiden mission and vice versa.

I can already see the shitstorm of a thread if Kojima charges for that too (and they would deserve it)

I couldn't read the whole thread, but is there any way Skull Face could be Ocelot? If nit, where is Ocelot? And Eva? We know Skull wants to kill Zero, which is the goal of Ocelot, BB and Eva.

No. Ocelot is totally a different character from Skull Face.. Also, Ocelot will appear again in TPP:

But, I don't know about EVA. Maybe she will appear in TPP. Who knows?

In the JP version the medic is also voiced by the Snake VA.

I doubt it's anything to get excited for tho. He dies from trying to save BB anyways.

Eva has already appeared in the GDC Phantom Pain trailer.

Wait...what!?

What are the chances of Skull Face being someone we already know in the series? Or do most think he's a new character?

Most seem to think he's a new character via his personal history that was related to one of the prisoner's in one of the tapes. Doesn't really jive with any pre-existing MGS character, so that's the theory.

I personally think it's Volgin, but everyone here was pretty quick to point out the problems with that theory.
I Want To Believe.

Oh God, Eva really did get progressively uglier.

Lucky Snake that got her in her prime.

That's not Eva.

Doesn't Ismael say that the Nurse dies? Eva is in MGS4, she isn't the nurse.

Pretty sure they're talking about the burning Raiden looking woman who flies across the room just before he meets Ishmael. The only time we saw the Nurse was in daytime, so the waking up part must be split into a few scenes.

lol no

I cannot believe some of the stuff I'm reading here. "Skullface is Ocelot", "Ishmael is Solidus", "the random blonde nurse is EVA". Have you guys even played the Metal Gear games ? How can you even propose that with any ounce of seriousness ?

There was a bunch of people claiming that the obviously Ocelot guy wasn't Ocelot when he appeared in last year's GDC trailer. If the nurse was dressed as EVA you'd be hearing people saying 'It's not EVA, it's a ruse!, Kojima's not going to make a fool out of me!'

The burning woman was wearing a combat attire. She's not a nurse.

Fuck it, here's my theory.

Big Boss wakes up delirious. He sees a white petal (which symbolizes The Boss) floating infront of him, reaches for it, and realizes that he's lost an arm. He blacks out, and as he regains consciousness he sees the face of a blonde woman, and says "Boss". The nurse, the peering face checking on Snake after hearing motion in the room, is startled and runs out. Snake blacks out. She returns with the doctor. "Nine years". Snake blacks out.

He wakes up, and sees a woman on fire in military fatigues (similar to the fatigues The Boss wore), who exits stage left. He loses and regains consciousness over time. Enter Ishmael. "What happened to the woman (who looked like The Boss)?". "I gave her a light, she took the short way down (I set her on fire, she jumped out of the fucking window)". He hallucinates the nurse as wearing The Boss' uniform, is my suggestion.

Let's get some pics in here, we can crack this.

Ocelot and EVA started working against Zero after Metal Gear 2. Also, Skull Face doesn't give a fuck about Snake.

My own best guesses for SF: Old KGB comrade of Ocelot, who brought him into Cipher's circle. Formed XOF in secret upon discovering Zero & The Boss planned his disfiguring incident. Wants Big Boss, and his sons, dead,

1) to spite Zero

2) because Snake stole his shot at killing Volgin, who fully wiped out his people sometime in the late 40s or 50s.
