a hopeful scenario for this game/Valhalla

- Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo/Amazon pay millions and millions for Devil's Third.
- Game become mega hit somehow.
- Facebook buy the IP from Itakagi for a billion.
- Itakagi buys Ninja Gaiden IP back from Tecmo.
- Itakagi burn NGZ and NG3 source codes and bury them next to E.T cartridges.
- Valhalla Release NGB on steam.
- Itakagi reboot Ninja Gaiden and give a real NG game.

Game has dragged on and is becoming irrelevant very quickly. Need to just get it out the door at this stage and use the experience to make a decent sequel.

Think it's pretty much a lock for an Xbone/MS exclusive. Itagaki has become pretty much irrelevant and I don't think many publishers would be interested in his game, MS need exclusives to bolster their lineup and they've always been cozy. People will hype the game through the roof because Itagaki made one good game a long time ago and wears sunglasses, but in reality it'll likely be mediocre.

I didn't see this post earlier, but it would make things right once again in the action genre.

why are people so eager for this to be locked down to one console :(

I don't think it's eagerness, just expectation. It's been close to two years since THQ dropped the game and there hasn't been a word regarding who picked it up.

Sweet mother of god it would be beautiful....

Imagine a NGB....no no, I don't think about that, it hurts too much.

Ninja Gaiden, Ninja Gaiden Black, Ninja Gaiden II, and the DOA games up to 4 are one game?

Itagaki haters love to try to put asterisks on his record

Tecmo would be dead without him. DoA1 was their last chance. that's why it's called Dead Or Alive...despite having no fatalities.

then they got bought out after the falling out with him because they didn't have company-sustaining talent left. (as much as I like Fatal Frame and Deception, they don't pay the bills)

You will see, i was right when months ago i said this http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?p=85689553. ;)

Of course despite getting back their creature things were not going that great without a publisher, so the development went on veeery slowly for long. Yet, after a long search, a publisher was found: the guy did not know who (he said he wasn't told, despite still being in contact with his friends and ex colleagues), and at that point i made a joke about Nintendo being behind all this, to get some more hardcore love after their special relationship with Platinum.
He replied it would be quite an impossible scenario, since the game has always been very focused on graphics and performance (so at this point i assume it's safe to think Devil's Third is now a nextgen affair).

oh my /god/

cookie pls

I'd love to see a list of all the games directed by Itagaki, I understand that he didn't make the original 8-bit trilogy but was he at Tecmo as a programmer before DOA?

DOA 1-4, DOA Extreme 1-2, Ninja Gaiden 1-2, and Dragon Sword. He's also worked on Super Tecmo Bowl apparently.

Where does Ninja Gaiden II Black fit in this fantasy of yours?

Wouldn't surprise me if Microsoft picked this up.
Yep, that would make sense to me. But didn't Itagaki back then choose the xbox because he wanted to develop for the most powerful console or something like that? If he stays true to that he'd have to pick the ps4

Interesting logo for an FPS.

FPS with focus on melee combat?

First-person boobs.
huh?
Veteran game designer Tomonobu Itagaki has provided a new update on Devil's Third, confirming that he will "finally reveal" the long-awaited third-person shooter "this year".

it's a third person game, there was a trailer for it showing shooting and swords action as well.

NG2 Black HD after the steam release of NGB HD.

I hope it's not too multiplayer focused. I know they want to do a shooter and every shooter has to include a lot of multiplayer, but I don't want another 6 vs 6, free for all, capture the flag game. Something I can enjoy cooperatively is fine.

Legally there's nothing really stopping Itagaki from making the exact same type of game as Ninja Gaiden also starring a ninja if he wanted to. Doesn't really seem worth it to buy the name.

Ninja Gaiden Black and 2 should be on Steam though, kinda odd they never showed up there considering how much they ported those games.

I prefer single-player as well, but the vibe I was getting from this game originally was that it was basically all multiplayer.

Ok, Itadaki, what are you trying to tell us here...

Itagaki said:
I wanted to go for the metallic feeling of the Breitling that I love so much. But I don't really wanna tell you exactly why, sorry ;D"

Well... I did some digging and think I've solved the mystery, so let's START!

As you all know:

  • Breitling is a world famous watch manufacturer and very old.
  • Nintendo is a world famous cosumer electronics company and very old.
Breitling was founded: 1884
Nintendo was founded: 1889

Difference: 5 YEARS

In other words, Breitling came first, then came Nintendo.

This is important: Itadaki said, the game will be "announced this year", which means 2014, but he didn't say it will be "released" this year.
Therefore, I expect the game to be announced THIS year (at E3), but released in the beginning of 2015... on Wii U

Let's continue our investigation:

  • Devil's Third was - for the first time ever - announced in 2010
  • Devil's Third - if my prediction is right - will come out on Wii U in 2015
Difference: 5 YEARS

In other words, Devils Third (the announcment) came first, then - 5 years later - it was released on a Nintendo console (the Wii U), just like Breitling came first and - 5 years - later came Nintendo.

I know Japanese hints can be confusing at times, but this one was pretty easy to solve.

why can't life be this good

I'm very excited to hear more. I imagine the game in its current state barely resembles what was shown in the past.

You really think they completely changed all the artstyle and/or switched the whole game engine for the game?

I don't know, I kind of doubt that.

If Nintendo was the publisher, I can't imagine they'd be still so quiet about it up til now. I mean consider when they showed off W101, Yarn Yoshi, etc. Hell, SMT vs. FE had barely even begun development and they announced it.

No reason they wouldn't have mentioned Devil's Third too.

Itagaki had a good relationship with MS back when the xbox vets still worked there. Pretty much everyone that made the original xbox and 360 left or stopped working on Xbox brand. Throw in the fact that Itagaki always goes after the strongest hardware, I think there's a good chance DT will be a ps4 title, if not multiplatform. I'm thinking it'll be multiplat and not exclusive though. MS didn't even pick up DT when Itagaki was searching for a publisher before finding THQ.

Nintendo likes surprises and is pretty good at keeping them a secret. Also, now with most of the blue ocean crowd still missing on the Wii U, I think they could need another "mature" action game for their upcoming games lineup.

True, but then again, Nintendo also kept the lid on the likes of Zelda Musou/Hyrule Warriors and didn't reveal it until recently (December), for a game that's set for release this Summer.

I'm not convinced it'll be exclusive to any one console, when the notion that they wanted it to be a "multimedia phenomenon" points to that they'll likely want to reach as many users as possible.

But, we'll see.

This sentence is key...

Detective mode ON again:

"metallic felling"... "metalic"...

Hmm...

Metal = Grey

Platinium = Grey

Platinium Games = Grey/metallic looking Logo.

PlatinumGames.png

"metallic feeling" = the feeling of a Platinum-Games-like Nintendo announcment in the same vein as Bayonetta 2's = Devil's Third Wii U Exclusive annoucement.

THIS MUST BE IT!
