Didn't get to see the original video, but was this actual in game, gameplay or was it more of that tech demo type stuff?
Maybe the fact that it's true, If we only had PC you would barely have games to play.

Consoles fund the industry this is pure fact. PC's have been able to make games that look like this for about 4 years why do you think they have not emerged till now?
I thought the video still looked pretty bad (maybe because it was actually the PS4 version? /cheekiness).
So they actually managed to get tessellation into this game, but not other console games?
Yes I do as I game on PC, give me an exclusive PC game that looks thus good and this big?Oh man, you really have no idea what and how much gets released for PC exclusively and what PC gamers play these days, have you?
I don't think we know what would have happened. If consoles didnt' exist, would PC gmaing have taken off even more that it has with consoles?
Perhaps Microsoft would have made the PC a more affordable, more noob friendly gaming environment. And maybe we'd all be talking about the next big in depth, strategy game, sintead of the next boring, hand-holdy "cinematic" crapfest. OR maybe not, and gamign would be much more niche than it is, or maybe it wouldn't have taken off until smartphones/tablets.
We can only speculate, but to claim that without consoles gaming dies automatically... that' silly. To insinuate that PC doesn't have games is also laughable. PC gets more highly rated exclusives than any console paltform.

Just to add the AMD hardware is not strong with tessellation too... this is one of weak points in the GCN architecture. On top of that, tessellation isn't easy or free. To bring their pipelines to par on the tessellation front requires a conscious choice from the developers, and if they don't see a big benefit in using it they won't bother with the extra complexity.
But we are talking big AAA games, these games feed the industry. You need a COD to feed a spec ops the line, I never said PC does not have games or exclusives ( I was playing PC before it was PC on my c64.vic20 et al) the fact is without consoles the market would be very different and graphics would not be where they are.I don't think we know what would have happened. If consoles didnt' exist, would PC gmaing have taken off even more that it has with consoles?

Pachter is an idiot.

Am I the only who thought it looked pretty good? Not mind blowing, but OK for a cross gen open world game.
Is that still the case?Just to add the AMD hardware is not strong with tessellation too... this is one of weak points in the GCN architecture.
Canis lupus did a good summary

Also make sure to read childplease comments in this thread.
Wait, what post/page or how did we find out that this was the PS4?

Yeap... they really did get a lot better from 6000 to 7000 but it is yet weaker compared with what nVidia had... the high-end AMD's GPU can't hold a mid/low-end nVidia's GPU in tessellation. Is that still the case?
I remember the HD 5000 and 6000 series' being weaker when it came to tessellation, but I thought they were on par by the time the 7000 series came out.

This one is my favorite:
So an RTS and space shooter and a puzzler most in alpha, I would have picked project cars or such like, but none of those games are on this scale or production values. Killzone is basically the equal of crysis 3 (which was only made due to the console sales option), Ryse has some of the best use of motion blur, dof, bokeh etc, second son. In the space of 5 months we have had games that push visuals further forward than 95% do PC games.Rome 2, Star Citizen, Elite Dangerous, Reset (looks better, but it's smaller scale). That's just off the top fo my head.
Bad example, what I am trying to say is, you need big games to publish small games, the risks. What does call of duty have to do with Spec Ops? (other than the obvious subject matter of the game).
Well unless PS4/Xbone had some changes in the tessellatior units (that I doubt) then it is yet weak... a R290X lacks behind even a GTX 660.Raw horespower to tessellation capability ratio saw a significant jump when going from Northern Islands to Southern Islands.
Yeah, I just looked up the high-end scores before you edited and I was blown away.Yeap... they really did get a lot better from 6000 to 7000 but it is yet weaker compared with what nVidia had... the high-end AMD's GPU can't hold a mid/low-end nVidia's GPU in tessellation.

Don´t understand me wrong. I mean, next-gen-consoles won´t be that totally mindblowing like the last "next-gens" with PS1,PS2, PS3 etc. There will be of course graphicly amazing games, like the next Uncharted and other games, but I don´t believe the PS4/Xbox One will stun us that much, since the PC hardware nowerdays is so much better. So you will always look for the PC to see the real next-gen-graphic..except some very few exklusive games like Uncharted...
Developing specifically around them will help considerably.Well unless PS4/Xbone had some changes in the tessellatior units (that I doubt) then it is yet weak... a R290X lacks behind even a GTX 660.

Pretty costs money and PC only gamers above all chase visuals which is ironic as the base level is always set by the consoles, why do you think that is if bit for the money/market scenario for the dev and publisher?
Lmao! Missed that summary. Thanks!
Oh man, you really have no idea what and how much gets released for PC exclusively and what PC gamers play these days, have you?
Whatever it is it sure doesn't make that big of a dent/splash on the gaming world as a whole... other than the much acclaimed first Crysis game on PC i struggle to remember other notable PC games.
No they do but it is not amazing visuals, there good imhop. So RTS's don't count now?
Also Pc gamers are a varid lot and you're painting with a mighty broad brush.

Interesting that X1 version isn't being talked about much at all... this may not mean good things for the version at this time. prob lagging behind ps4 development.

This will not end well for you lol
My favourite comment is "Why can't they do a PS4 video JUST like this?" You can practically taste the foreshadow.
hahahahahaha
I mean it could be that you just don't follow PC gaming news at all generally? because if Crysis is the only notable PC exclusive you can honestly recall... that's gotta be the reason
If you struggle to remember notable pc games since one in 2007 (which surely you just know because the pretty graphics making the rounds in all the sites and forums), then you are a console gamer that don't follow pc gaming... which then makes sense of why you don't know about notable pc games!
But that's a very strange definition of what is a notable release?I'm not saying it doesn't have games... but i just can't remember a PC exclusive game that... say a guy who only games on the X360 might have heard about. (hypothetical case)
Not trying to start a war here.
