Jon Cassar has confirmed they're now on Episode 7.

so by the time this season starts, they'll essentially be on the final few episodes.

So I've see seasons 5-8 I think but my GF had never seen any of the show. We started watching a while back and are almost done with season 2 now. Issue is we'll never make it by May.

What seasons should I show her so she knows some of the characters for the new season (and what happens with Tony, etc.)? 5 and 8?

Watch the second half of Season 3 and all of Season 5 and the second half of season 8.

If you can, watch Season 7.

I agree with all of S5 and the back half of S8, but I'd try and fit in as much of S4 as possible. It introduces Logan, Heller, and Audrey and starts storylines that span the next 2-3 seasons.

S3 was great, it introduced Chloe, but outside of one major thing, there weren't a lot of seminal moments.

Tony is probably executed with a lethal injection by now on accounts of [inter]national terrorism, mass-murder, torture, multiple homicides, attempted murder, kidnapping, theft, police brutality, grand larceny, grand theft auto.

What if someone on the inside misses the artery and Tony survives?

The opening double bill of the new 12-part limited series will be shown at 1am on Sky1 in the early hours of Tuesday, May 6 - the same time that it airs in the US (Monday, May 5 on Fox).

Worked well for Game of Thrones last night.
Sky Atlantic didn't even include any ad breaks, which is unheard of for them.

They were filming part of an episode near were I work today, at Camden lock in London today they closed quite a bit of land off but I could see quite a bit from a bridge nearby, I tired taking a few photos but they didn't turn out to well due to the rain.
